Derek Mixon is playing drums - he is the shi# - he played on my first two records in Nashville - and also one of the nicest fellows you can ever meet - so happy for his success with Chris.
Chris is able to turn a song into a life story. I can feel that pain and have lived it. There's not a lot of people/bands that I would pay a lot of money to see... I would for him.
Nice to see someone giving props to Stapleton’s band - drummer Derek Nixon, bassist JT Cure. Occasionally Dave Cobb on rhythm guitar, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, Morgane Stapleton singing harmony... everyone around this guy is on his level and on his wavelength. A lot of bands in the studio record in parts, or in separate booths... these guys record like they’re playing live. They are the definition of tight.
Michael, thank you SO MUCH! Not only for picking my video, but for all the advice and shared knowledge within. Loved this breakdown and the shout outs. Catch you on the next one! 🤘🏼❤️
I don't know anything about chords or music but I really enjoy seeing you digest, replicate and explain the sounds. I just know what the sounds make me feel, you know how they make them.
Came across this song - and your website - by chance and just at the right time. I had hit a plateau with my guitar playing and was stuck and discouraged. Stapleton's incredibly emotional singing and playing plus your analysis and explanation of what was going on inspired me to re-string my guitar and get going again. Many thanks!
Masterpiece, has been nominated for country song of the year at next years Grammys. Although he has 5 Grammys, he wrote this with his band JT Cure, Derek Mixon and Dave Cobb (who produced his records) so a win would be very special. Fingers xxxxx
If you haven’t checked out Chris’s work with The Steeldrivers, you are in for a treat. Bluegrass and blues. I think they recorded 4 or 5 albums together.
Of my 69 1/2 years , Chris is my top favorite . I think he has a way of playing his music and omitting parts which our minds fill in. "Genius at work" Not all the best music was from 1960 - 1974 . Thank You ! I know the way it sounds but he makes you part of the experience.
As a Live Sound Engineer, you hit the nail right on the spot. EVERYBODY in the band has to pull its weight. It's professionalism. Nothing more. When i can just worry about my job and not about thinking what i should do to cover someone else, the whole thing just move so much more organically.
I'd disagree with you on any album his From a room albums could have been combined to one great album they have songs that fell like filler but overall love Chris Stapleton
One of the things that really grabs me musically about this performance is that they didn't resolve it at the end! Glad to find your channel. Love that you do analysis and theory rather than just reaction. New subscriber!
@Michael Palmisano I can’t begin to express my gratitude for you reacting to this performance! Seeing you break down “Tennessee Whiskey” and the live version of “I Was Wrong” are a big reason I became a fan of Chris. I saw him in concert last month and the only thing keeping it from being perfect is that he didn’t play “Cold.” I used to think his guitar playing was simple because he didn’t have chops, then I learned that the subtleties in his picking and overall phrasing like that slow bend at the beginning of this solo are 100% serving the song in the best way possible. Thanks again for all you do here!
Excellent advice Michael, no matter what instrument you use. I’m a writer. “You do it, you just begin, and days become weeks become months become years. It’s what we do with our lives, it’s not some random thing.”
Man you are the best. I love the way you explain everything but watching your feeling and seeing you get caught on the little things I do just makes for a good experience every video. Also for Chris, I don't know what words to say but man, it hits me differently though him singing this and not seeing his wife right beside him like always.
I’m not a subscriber because I don’t play. But, being a huge Stapleton and country fan, you absolutely have to check out his performance of “watch you burn”. I would love to see what you think of it. It is such a powerful song, both musically and the message it sends. I’ll be looking forward to it.
Not a player Michael, just luv to listen and marvel at the great sounds brought to us by these amazing performers. Love the color and texture they bring to our lives. And as usual in your own personal way you give us an even greater appreciation for what we are hearing and why the sounds work so well together. Your enthusiasm is overwhelming and I can’t even begin to say how much your videos entertain and inform. Props to you ❤️
Następny świetny utwór w świetnym i niepowtarzalnym wykonaniu Chris-a, połączenie country, soul i bluesa trochę rocka to magia i niesamowite przeżycie dla zmysłów, to duchowe niesamowite przeżycie.
Listen to Out Loud by scarypoolparty. Guy is absolutely insane with his guitar. He was on american idol but totally got robbed and left with 2nd place. The judges say he is the most influential artist in show history
What guitar is Chris using in this performance specifically? This performance alone is so inspiring. I learned years ago on an electric guitar how to play Cocaine by Eric Clapton but then due to some home issues I quit playing. I've considered recently learning how to play a banjo but this performance all on its own has done so much to my soul. The notes and flow he plays in this, I can close my eyes and find myself completely in a different dimension. I will go out this weekend and buy the whole setup if I could find out what guitar this is, its sounds like heaven and looks like gold.
Looks like his guitar is a late 60's or early 70's Gibson ES-335. I absolutely love Chris Stapleton's guitar tone on this song. He's also running in to his signature Fender '62 Princeton reissue amp. Definitely a pricey setup but it doesn't get much better than some vintage Gibson humbuckers sitting right on the edge of breakup through a Fender tube amp
Hey Michael, keep on keepin’ it real brother. I always appreciate coming to your channel and just feeling like I’m sitting with my buddy (that happens to be a lot better of a guitar player than I am. lol) Thanks again man. God bless.
I don't play guitar, or any instrument for that matter, but I like listening to you explain how to play what we're hearing. I never use to listen to the lyrics of a song. I would just hear the song a billion times on the radio or wherever and learn the words that had been drilled into my head. Until I started listening to country music. I could actually hear what they were saying. Now I'm paying attention to the music and how it's arranged and the different instruments. I find your teaching fascinating. It all sounds so complicated and a lot like math actually. I'm terrible at math so I know I could never play the guitar, but I do enjoy your lessons.
Michael if you like Canadian bands you've never heard before then I suggest you search up SPOON BEND out of Toronto! They recently released a self titled debut album that they premiered on a local news outlet up here. Their ages range from 18-20 years old and have put out an original album mixed with songs ranging from alternative to a sort of jazz/psychedelic sound. My favourite out of the music they have put out is "Butterfly" off their 5 song EP titled ARBORISTS IN TRAINING. Would love to see you review them!
That John Mayer video that was in the top left corner of your requests page is unbelievable. It documents the writing of his song In Repair of Continuum which he did in a day with Steve Jordan and Charlie Hunter. Insane look at writing the music and lyrics of a tremendous song in a day.
Michael you are one of the most talented teachers and musicians I’ve come across on RUclips. Thank you for making this video and sharing your insight with us. I wish I lived in your area so I could take lessons from you. Do you happen to know the best place to look for lessons? I learned how to play when I was in 3rd grade and have played off and on for the last 15 years but all I remember are the basics of the notes on the fret board and maybe 10-15 cords. I’d love to invest some time in actually learning guitar the way you present it here in this reaction video. Cheers, Josh
Your hard won insight into your relationship reminds me of someone else I admire: Alecia Moore/Pink. She & her husband, Cary Hart, had an extremely tempestuous relationship for many years. She sang about all of it: So What, Blow Me, Beautiful Trauma, etc. She has said, " It's like he speaks Polish & I speak Italian. So we finally found a therapist who speaks both." They've been married for over 20 years now. Sometimes it pays to get help from a professional, even if it starts with just one person going alone.
Michael, I would love for you to look into Richard Thompson. I've no idea how his genius gets skipped over by virtually every one, By the way love your work !
Chris Stapleton is soul, blues, rock and country all rolled into one delicious gumbo
You don't need me to tell you, but you're really damn good at this.
Thank you my friend!! Hit me with another 4K gem when you find a hot one
Stapleton is the GOAT. Damn.
Best artist around these days
“We don’t have to be together but we can’t be apart.” Michael you need to share one of your own songs because there is a poet in you.
Yes! If Michael writes, I would love to hear one too!
Derek Mixon is playing drums - he is the shi# - he played on my first two records in Nashville - and also one of the nicest fellows you can ever meet - so happy for his success with Chris.
Love to listen to your albums where can one find it
That’s so bad ass
Shit
Can’t get enough of these breakdowns, especially when the subject matter is this killer. Stapleton is a monster.
Also, Michael, you are severely underrated. I’d kill for your musical ear/understanding of music theory/composition.
I know nothing about playing the guitar but I love this song so here I am watching a 22 min video 😍
Chris is able to turn a song into a life story. I can feel that pain and have lived it. There's not a lot of people/bands that I would pay a lot of money to see... I would for him.
I absolutely love Christ Stapleton. He is one of the best musicians of our age.
This mans voice… my gracious. That’s soul, can’t be taught that voice.
Fantastic. I’m sure another few hundred Stapleton signature amps just shipped on the back of this :-)
When your buddy Dave Cobb offers to sit in as your backup guitarist. Ridiculous and amazing.
This my new favorite song. Chris’ bassist, JT Cure has been with him since the beginning and is the anchor in every song.
Michael, thank you SO MUCH! Not only for picking my video, but for all the advice and shared knowledge within. Loved this breakdown and the shout outs. Catch you on the next one! 🤘🏼❤️
Just hit the first note, baby!
That’s it!
I don't know anything about chords or music but I really enjoy seeing you digest, replicate and explain the sounds. I just know what the sounds make me feel, you know how they make them.
crazy part is, Chris is fresh off a case of laryngitis! had to move a couple october shows to recover. legendary man right there
Doesn't get any better than Chris - cheers MP, thank you
This isn't country. This is soul.
Awesome!! So glad you found us. Best of luck :)

Chris & you never disappoint….
If you haven’t checked out Chris’s work with The Steeldrivers, you are in for a treat. Bluegrass and blues. I think they recorded 4 or 5 albums together.
Love this song! When I heard it for the first time, the moment the kick-drum set in, I knew this would tear me up all the way down to my soul...
Well I'm never going to sing like Chris or play like Michael, but I love your content. Thanks.
Of my 69 1/2 years , Chris is my top favorite . I think he has a way of playing his music and omitting parts which our minds fill in. "Genius at work" Not all the best music was from 1960 - 1974 . Thank You ! I know the way it sounds but he makes you part of the experience.
He is already one of the all-time greats.
As a Live Sound Engineer, you hit the nail right on the spot. EVERYBODY in the band has to pull its weight. It's professionalism. Nothing more. When i can just worry about my job and not about thinking what i should do to cover someone else, the whole thing just move so much more organically.
Such a great singer/songwriter. He's one of the modern singers keeping today's country music good. Thanks for the great reaction as always.
This was a very technical, and surprisingly very personal, work-through of this very awesome song. Thank you.
clicked for chris, stayed and subbed for michael
Oh man, the person that requested this has my dream guitar
glad i found this guys channel. loving the vids!
Stapleton just doesn’t disappoint, pick any album, front to back and it just kills.
I'd disagree with you on any album his From a room albums could have been combined to one great album they have songs that fell like filler but overall love Chris Stapleton
@@Hrb1010, nice try, go back and listen to them again as if each one is the only album he’s ever done.
@@jontiffinphoto and even still is only ok I'm. Just not personally a fan of those albums
@@Hrb1010, well, you realize you’re the only one, and they make a pill for that…
Best sounding drums I’ve heard in a long while.
One of the things that really grabs me musically about this performance is that they didn't resolve it at the end!
Glad to find your channel. Love that you do analysis and theory rather than just reaction. New subscriber!
Ohh that PRS is stunning!
This feels like a Bond main title theme
I SOOOOOOO love watching you , watch other musicians.
And THANK YOU for sharing all the other stuff.
You are appreciated!!!
We don’t deserve you homie! I hadn’t played in a few months, but you always make it fun to pick it back up. Love your channel. \mm/
Duude, I LUV u throw ur personal life history into these. Makes u SOO relatable.. I LUV IT.. luv ur channel.
Awesome as always Mr. Michael 👌
A masterpiece!
JT Cure on bass, Derek Mixon on drums, and the legendary Dave Cobb.
GREAT GREAT REACTION! TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL and EDUCATIONAL! Thank You
Love your reactions🖤 the way you feel the music is so honest and that’s why I watch.
@Michael Palmisano I can’t begin to express my gratitude for you reacting to this performance! Sweet! I’ve been listening to this everyday since it came out.
You’re a relatable guy Michael. Don’t go many days without watching a video of yours or two keep up the great work it’s inspiring.
11:03-11:10 is low key the best part.
I appreciate your great coaching. Life, guitar, marriage, singing, etc. You can do it all!
Excellent advice Michael, no matter what instrument you use. I’m a writer. “You do it, you just begin, and days become weeks become months become years. It’s what we do with our lives, it’s not some random thing.”

O.M.G. !! I just stumbled onto you. You are Amazing !! I love your Enthusiasm and the way you feel the music !!
Great reaction
“Memories, if you and me together” sorry having some no doubt flashbacks. Stapleton is the country music messiah.
You rock man, always love hearing your insight and passion on things and pulling in your own life anecdotes. Another great song/reaction.
Michael you have to react to some Jompson Brothers. It was Stapleton’s rock outfit from 11 years ago.
I’m not a subscriber because I don’t play. But, being a huge Stapleton and country fan, you absolutely have to check out his performance of “watch you burn”. I would love to see what you think of it. It is such a powerful song, both musically and the message it sends. I’ll be looking forward to it.
Somewhere in heaven BB King is smiling
Would love to see you react to Dire Straits, Sultans of swing love from Alchemy! Amazing live performance!
Sending some good vibes your brothers way, man. Hope he finds his way through the muck soon 🙏
pure gold... both the song and your breakdown
Love your videos man. I don’t understand everything your taking about but I’m slowly learning.

I was living these words when this song came out. Funny enough this channel helped me thru. Hang in there hopeless romeos.
Live is the best
God I was hoping for this one
Yessir!!
BRAVO,MAN JOY ARE THE BEST!!!!
Chris Stapleton is the dude version of Adele. Both have voices to beat the band and sing songs that cut you to the core.
Could you imagine them doing a duet.....😮
Man I never thought about that but’s that’s the perfect comparison
CHILLS!!!!!! STUPENDOUS!
Następny świetny utwór w świetnym i niepowtarzalnym wykonaniu Chris-a, połączenie country, soul i bluesa trochę rocka to magia i niesamowite przeżycie dla zmysłów, to duchowe niesamowite przeżycie.
Yes!!!
Loving the cold reactions.
Chris may be a country artist, but he sounds like a blues guitarist.
I think that sound is what makes him great!
Check out “lazy” by deep purple. I was 12 in 1972 when this came out. Loved it then and still loving today.
My man!!! I was hoping this was gonna be on your list. Haven’t forgot about ya brother. Hope to see ya soon!

Gary Allan - can’t quit her. Bad break up and my dad played this for me and told me "you can quit her". First time my dad was more then a dad to me.
Now do Steel Drivers Where Rainbows Never Die or Jompson Brothers Barely Alive.
Or “blue side of the mountain”. Got to see the steel drivers once before Stapleton moved on and they blew me away.
Hey Michael, keep on keepin’ it real brother. I always appreciate coming to your channel and just feeling like I’m sitting with my buddy (that happens to be a lot better of a guitar player than I am. lol) Thanks again man. God bless.
Really enjoyed this reaction!!!
Thanks Michael. Appreciated that.
Why ya gotta be so cool Mike? Lol

Michael, that was enjoyable to watch. Have you heard of this kid from Australia, Taj Farrant, who was born with this talent of guitar? Thank You...
These are my favorite reaction videos
Michael, I would love for you to look into Richard Thompson. I've no idea how his genius gets skipped over by virtually every one, By the way love your work !
Have you ever done anything by Matt Andersen? He has some amazing stuff out there. His acoustic cover of “I’m on fire” is incredibly dynamic.
