I was just going to recommend Say Something by Justin & Chris and tell you how AMAZING the video is.someone beat me to it,and they are correct...it was shot in one single complete take.the camera work is fantastic not to mention the choir and band.the coordination and performance is beyond amazing by everyone involved. I love their soulful sounds, but songs about drinking and comparing women to alcohol have nothing to do with church. I love both songs, but it's weird to say them singing these songs brought people to church. Church is way more than people singing well.

This is hands down one of the VERY BEST live performances on TV. It was AMAZING!
I agree about the amazing part. This really is. But, and this is just my opinion, I think the MTV Unplugged sets by Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains were better. Also, the 1965 live version of Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers gives me chills every time. It aired on the Andy Williams show. Side note...Rolling Stone ranked Unchained Melody at # 365 on their list of the top 500 songs of all time. I consider that a great disservice. Ramble, done.

I love seeing Chris’s wife onstage with him, she compliments his voice so well. Love the way they look at each other while performing, she helps him a lot with his anxiety onstage.

Chris Stapleton has one of those voices that's just pure heaven and pushes the music into ones own soul!
There's something about this kind of music and the style of jam session that really seems to light a fire in Timberlake. I watched one of his concerts with his band The Tennessee Kids and the best and longest part was when they did Drink You Away. They were just jamming out and it was the best and most fun part of the entire thing. Timberlake didn't seem to want to stop singing it and the band was having so much fun. They are so talented.
This collaboration with Stapleton has to be one of the best live award show performances ever.
Impeccable, is a good word here. JT’s band is so tight! They deserve a lot of credit for this performance, and they had a BLAST! And, so did the audience full of country music stars, and music industry people. We all love great music, don’t we?

Yes, everyone there knew JT very well, but this was a breakout for Chris, although he had been making music for years. His songs were hits for other artists before his wife, Morgane, encouraged him to go solo. That’s her on stage singing harmony.

If you watch the reactions of the artists when Justin’s song first starts, you will see they knew his song after the performance you will see that they were all were blown away. Miranda lambert actually commented on the performance during her acceptance speech for her own award. I saw this performance live and it’s what turned me on to Chris Stapleton. He is my absolute favorite.

I originally came across this duet on YT shortly after the CMAs. I've always loved JT but this was when I discovered Chris...promptly went and downloaded his entire album. IMHO this is in the top five duets/trios (if you count Morgan, which I do) of all time. I could listen to this on repeat 24/7!

I watch this award show not knowing either of these twos music...was standing the whole time thinking this was the most amazing collaboration ever. This was in the middle of the CMAs, and several acts had to follow....the whole place was electric.

First of all this is probably one of the best live performances at an award show I've ever seen.
Also Justin is not from Nashville he is from Memphis whole different town Southwest of Nashville, where he grew up listen to The blues.
The band that was standing on stage behind them and the horns were absolutely killing it the whole song.
As to your comment that people didn't know Justin Timberlake's song, I think you weren't watching the video close enough. There were lots of superstars in the country World standing on the front row singing along with the words.
I was actually watching the cma's live that year and got to see this performance when it first happened and I've come back to it many times. I still think this performance should have earned an Emmy award.

Nashville is the home to country. Memphis is the home of blues. They're not that far apart geographically or stylistically. Chris bridges the gap perfectly. JT actually started in country as a kid on a show called Star Search. JT and Chris have a song together called "Say Something" and the four of them (including their wives) are great friends.
