It is more of an environmental factor though of course in a predominantly black comunity soul and R&B comes more often but preferences and tastes vary outside it too
Chris is like the Eagles or Prince or Cash. You can listen to it 3 million times and it's always fresh. The talent level is so far above anyone else, it's just amazing. I still feel shocked every time even though I have been listening to him for five years now. My #1 bucket list item is to see him live. It's MUSIC and it transcends all the labels all the genres it's just amazing, emotional MUSIC. I love it.
The only thing missing at a Chris Stapleton concert is a comfortable recliner. It's just a different wonderful experience. Been to 3 so far. All great.

It's honestly an extension of his vocal talent, if you listen it often sounds a lot like his vocal style. He hammers and does those amazing riffs, then gets softer and quieter and then sneaks up again. Much like what he does with his voice.
