Hands down the best CMA performance I've ever seen.
Let’s all say a huge thank you to Chris’ wife Morgane for encouraging Chris to perform on his own. In an interview Chris said he never went solo due to performance anxiety until his wife offered to be on stage with him. Notice when he sings he’s almost always looking at her!
My favorite thing about these reaction videos is the due the supporting band and backup vocalists are given. She not only can back up her husband and is an amazing artist in her own right…but has the agility to back up Timberlake and all the impromptu musicianship that we know was occurring. What she does vocally to support these two vastly vocally different men is hands down more impressive than either of these gentlemen individually and she shows why a Grammy award for supporting vocalists should be a thing.
If you you like this, you have to watch the Justin and Chris Stapleton preform “Say Something” it’s a music video that’s like a live crazy performance and supposedly nailed it on the first take! Pretty amazing if they truly pulled it off. Unbelievable if you haven’t seen them perform before

Some backstory if no one else has mentioned it. Justin and Chris are next door neighbors and good friends. Chris was around the music scene forever as a songwriter, but this performance was his breakout as a solo artist. He has severe stagefright, that’s why he was only a songwriter for so long (he wrote Your Man by Josh Turner and Comeback Song by Darius Rucker, as examples). But his wife Morgane (the backup singer in this video) was/is extremely supportive of him and her presence on stage helps Chris a lot. If you watch some more of his live performances, you’ll notice that he looks at her a lot while they’re performing because it helps him control his stagefright. Morgane and Justin convinced him to do this performance, I think having them both on stage have him enough confidence to really break out of his comfort zone. And thank god they did!
@@joshrobertson929and I believe he said he’d do it if they let Justin sing with him. Well lol they knew what that meant that’s why they were given 2 time slots for their performance. The best collaboration ever in my opinion!!

The best collaboration ever!! No matter how many times I watch reactions to it, it still gives me goosebumps!! They killed it, every single person on that stage gave everything they had and left it on the floor!!
CMT asked Chris to do the opening number for their 2015 Award show. Chris is friends with Justin and asked if he would do it with him. When they told CMT that Justin will perform Tennessee Whiskey with Chris, CMT doubled the time allotted for another song which way Drink You Away from Justin's album. Also, this was the opening performance for the award show and I have no idea who followed this performance but how in the world they could top this.
Morgane is Chris’ wife and she has a beautiful voice. Their harmony is insane. And you’re so right, JT is another insane talent! Chris was formally the lead singer for The Steeldrivers. Check out their Blue Side of the Mountain and Chris’ solo of Whiskey and You.
This was the best duo performance I've seen on a country music awards show. Shit blew me away live.

Chris and TJ vocally complemented each other but as the performance goes on the vocals continuously goes up notch by notch.
It’s so true… We all pretend like we disliked N’Sync and Backstreet Boys, when we were young. Yet we all know all the lyrics. JT could be a full time cast member on SNL.

You called them both vocal legends but this is what really shot Chris into legend status I believe. After that he was really all over the place. He’s amazing. Shout out to Morgan for pushing him to take his shot at becoming an artist.
I remember watching that performance on tv and felt stunned afterwards. I sort of felt bad for all the performers after that. After the show was over, I went and looked up Chris Stapleton on RUclips. I have not heard a bad song from him yet. Yes, "Drink You Away" is Justin's song. They also do a good collaboration on "Say Something".

She's the one who convinced Chris to sing because he used to write songs for other, but was too shy to perform himself. She's the one who gave us the gift of Chris!!! ❤

The woman next to Chris is his wife Morgane, from what I've read Chris actually suffers from major stage fright and his wife being on stage calms him down and helps him perform. This performance has YET to be topped at the CMAs, with HARDY's and Lainey Wilson's from last year being the closest to topping it.

Gulp is right! LOL. They have a total of five kids. Of course they can afford to have some help to watch all those kiddos, but I can't wait to see if any of them come out with that kind of talent (both his and Morgane's!)
If you want to hear Morgane and Chris sound their best in harmony? Do yourself a favor. Listen to them sing You Are My Sunshine. It gives me chills listening to them together on that.

I have some very dear friends that were at this CMA show. They were blown away after this…. And everybody else was too. None of the performers wanted to go on after these two tore it up. Can’t say I blame anybody having to go on stage after that.

After watching it a few times.....favorite part of the reaction is your head tilt at the same time as Keith Urban in the crowd at the 10:11/10:12 mark. You had the literal exact same reaction at the same time. So amazing!! And Chris right after coming in with the YEAHHHHHH (with Justin's head going straight back hearing it). Ugh such a good performance and reaction video!!

I agree 💯 with everything you've said about this performance! But in regards to Justin haters, I love Justin and hated NSYNC! I never hold how someone starts their career against them. He is a phenomenal artist with an undeniable God given talent!! He can do it all. I am a movie freak and go to the movies once or twice a week so I see everything. That man is a great actor.

Isn't this a fun performance?! Everyone is having such a blast. I'll bet that place was ELECTRIC! The guy with the dirty blonde hair at 10:15 that leaned his head over is country legend Keith Urban. And did you see Jewel? As others have suggested, you might like Chris and JT singing "Say Something." But you need to do the video, which is a single take. The song itself isn't my favorite studio song, but I do love that it's all done live in one take in the video. That's pretty cool to see and there had to be some major rehearsals that went into that!

Morgan Stapleton is a talent all on her own and could easily get her own record deal but she chooses to support her husband and sing his back-up vocals. Honestly, without her, Chris Staeton's songs wouldn't have the same feel to them. Her smooth, angelic voice seems to compliment Chris' rough, raspy voice in such a way that it baffles my mind how two opposites can blend together to form such beautiful sounds. New sub here!!! This was the night Stapleton blew up. I believe his album had just been released and soon after this the website selling it crashed from traffic. By this time, Chris had long been a very respected song writer in Country but never made it big solo. This was his coming out party. Look at all the other big time artists in the crowd jamming out. You can see it on their faces. Happiness for their friend and coworker who had been grinding for years underground. Several big No. 1 songs were written by Chris but performed by other people. Adele even covered one of his songs on her 21 UK deluxe album. Check out “If it hadn’t been for Love” by Chris and his band the Steeldrivers.

There are three live song videos that are absolutely the best versions of the songs being performed in my opinion, obviously these two songs are one of the videos, then there's a live version of the song you'll think of me by Keith Urban from a long time ago that's him playing it acoustic that is absolutely mind blowing, and then the live version of the song Call to Arms by Sturgill Simpson from one of the late night talk shows if may have even been SNL I can't quite remember exactly which one it was on but holy shit can batman that version is by far leaps and bounds better than even the studio version much less any other live performance of it.
You need to check out... Say something by Timberlake and Stapleton . Its another classic.
