  • Hi Everyone,
Here is an easy way to track PTO within a Microsoft Team using the calendar feature. This is nice for a small team to track everyone's PTO and tell who is out of office.

This is great!!! It wasn't working for me till I watched your video and it included details such as the 'Classic' link to apps. 10/10 video.

Hey Michael, thanks for the quick and easy video.
Been using the function for years, but it has always been setup by others. Now it was my turn to set it up for my team and this was great. 🤘😎

This is wonderful, just implemented this to have in our company's teams. Here's a question though, would you theoretically be able to do a power automate flow to send a teams message every morning with the schedule for that day? I've had it pull from lists before, but not sure if it would be able to pull info from a calendar. Thanks!

This is so great! Thank you. I am also interested in the Power Automate, so I will have to look that up.
Is there a way to lock the input once it is put in, so that it can't get deleted accidentally? or to have a time stamp so you can see who requested a particular day first?

How do I select a time out of office instead of selecting a full day?

I have a quick question. Do these events you made in PTO calendar have links to join the meetings, same as the channel has?

won't work for me. Some of our staff will take part days off. I need hours and not time periods. Some have different time codes for different time off, ie.. sick, Scheduled vacation, exempt, not exempt. there's extra fields in there I don't need displayed and some fields I want displayed.

Do members of the Team get an invitation to the event? That was a problem when I tried to use a Teams calendar.

What if I already had a company-shared PTO calendar within Outlook. Can I add that to the Teams/SharePoint Site page, or would it be easier to recreate it and sync it down? The way we currently use the PTO Calendar via outlook is an employee e-mails their supervisor, adds the PTO calendar as a resource, then CC's the Corporate Controller. When approved, they accept, and it gets added to the calendar. At that point, anyone in the company can add that calendar to their list to view who's off and who's not. If I use this method, everyone always has teams open, and it would be as simple as clicking the PTO Calendar widget.

Hi Michael, thanks for the video. Is there anyway to prevent double booking within this Calendar?

With this method, no you can't prevent double booking. It would have to be manually checked
