    Great comparison video Joe! I fought this battle for a long time earlier this year. I had a 2016 EB Premium with "the good stuff", vs. trying to get a GT that wasn't a base, but obviously had cloth seats, no pony projection lamps, and missing all sorts of little things..... it did have the Sync 3 system which was at least a big plus. In the end, both cars IMO are phenomenal at different things. A BIG thing to consider with the GT, is while it's fast as heck... you can only push it as far as the open road you have ahead of you. Meaning if you live somewhere with a lot of traffic, you're trapped like everybody else. The big thing that killed me living in CA was insurance. It would cost me about $1,400 MORE a YEAR in auto insurance. That's a big zonk!
    Both cars are great, if I made more money I would just got for a fully loaded GT Premium... but EcoBoost Premium is what I have in reality and it's still a good experience. Thanks for the excellent videos!

    I clicked this video because I watch all of your mustang content that I see pop up in my sub feed. When I found out you were comparing a BASE GT to a PREMIUM Ecoboost I was even more excited, because this is a very real decision that some newcomers to the Mustang market have a hard time making; myself included. The only REAL reason I personally want the GT, is because it's what I wrote down when I was 10 years old for a school assignment. I wrote down that my dream car is a Mustang GT, not just a regular Mustang, but a GT; and so I'll feel like I cheated myself if I end up getting an Ecoboost instead even though it's much more practical for my needs. Also the sound of the GT is irreplaceable lol. I haven't even watched the full video yet but I'm super excited, so thanks for another great one in advance!
    My point with the whole opening statement (if you've even read this) is that I feel if you put "BASE GT or PREMIUM ECOBOOST" at the end of your title instead, than it would give people a much more clear idea of what this video is really about and will make people even more curious to click on it!

    I've had both Turbo 4 and GT (earlier fox body). I loved both. Of the two you reviewed, I would pick Turbo Boost. You save money at the dealer, gas pump and insurance. And living in the real world, you'll save money supporting the local 5.O! Can't go wrong with either one.

    • @johnlandas3739

  • @bbiddy7427
    @bbiddy7427 5 лет назад +8

    I would go with the Ecoboost just for the costs involved. I watched your 2018 video on these cars a few months back and chose a fully loaded Ecoboost Convertible that was still 2k cheaper than the base GT's that the dealer had. I have since modded my Ecoboost pretty well and have tuned it and am putting down close to 320-330 wheel hp currently with more mods to come someday in the future. Again, the HP numbers he mentioned are Crank HP. They put alot less at the wheels (especially the ecoboost). At Factory, I was putting down 265-275hp at the wheels. I did try the GT but for the costs and fact that the car felt so much heavier, I went with the Ecoboost and could honestly never look back.

    Great question Joe! As an owner who's talked to a lot of other Mustang owners there are a myriad of reasons between the choice. The two biggest to me are, are you on a budget? How obsessed are you with speed? Those two make up most of the decisions between the two choices, both of which are great cars for the price. I have less than 45k in my '18 A10 3.55 geared GT and it has ran a best of 11.2 @ 125 mph which puts it in or near supercar numbers for a fraction of the cost.

    The Pony Package EcoBoost Mustang has 19" wheels, not 20". The trunk lid spoiler is different on the GT, it has fins on the sides.The base GT needs SYNC 3 with driving modes and the 19" rims of the Black Package,, that is about $3K more, but you can save half of it by getting a manual.

    Choosing a GT version means that you need to be well-contacted and well-versed with the performance tuning house community: expert stuff, truly professional stuff, hardcore racing enthusiasts club, and you must set aside a significant budget to fit yourself into the tuning-enthusiasts lifestyle. Being in a performance tuning house community is like being in a league of your own... you talk your own jargon and you walk-your-own-walk, so to speak...

    If I was to get a new Mustang as a daily driver, and not going to race it and stuff, but like the looks, handling and decent performance, loaded with the options I want, I would get the EcoBoost. If I wanted a muscle car to drive on days off, for the performance, I would get the GT, with minimal options and a decent stereo.
    If I had serious mucho dinero, and really felt like getting most of my dream cars, I would probably get a Shelby Mustang like you featured, a ZL1, and new Supra Launch edition and a new Z51 Corvette C8, along with some of the nice lesser daily drivers like the Toyota Camry and Rav4 TRD, a Honda Civic Sport Sedan and HRV Sport, and a new Corolla XSE Sedan, and maybe the Acura ILX A-spec, among others.
    But yeah, at a set price for these two Mustangs, what I said above. I think most people would probably choose on the same basis.
    Ideally, if gas, insurance and other expenses were not an issue, A GT with that performance package with all the similar options as this EcoBoost version would be ideal. You can't beat the power and exhaust tone. Like my 2006 Chevy Impala SS was pretty nice back then, but what gave it character that got the attention, and was so therapeutic was my Flowmaster exhaust. It sounded so nice with the 5.3L V8...

The GT bad interior, no toggle switches, no illuminated sill plates, no SYNC 3 👎👎. The only thing I absolutely loved was that 5.0 V8 460HP and that Menacing sound👍👍. I special ordered my 2018 GT with the same rims as this GT. If an almost identical rim scheme is good enough on the $10 million Bugatti Centodieci, it's good enough for me. The all black rims is getting old fast. GT muscle money is the way to go.

      @brolyv5802 4 года назад

      NB Films my prius can smoke a ferrari with mods too. At the end of the day, it is an ecoboost. It is still a civic. You beat a Lambo, Ferrari, Corvette, R8 well it is still what it is.

  • @bornaasi8734
    @bornaasi8734 4 года назад

    If ford pre installed the ecoboost with a high quality exhaust like a Borla atak, it would be a fantastic option,
    That’s the biggest difference, the sound, the power can be set on par with a couple mods and a tune,
    Obviously the gt can produce way more power when tuned but the main issue with that is, is that over 90% or mustang owners don’t take their cars to the drag stripe or a race track to utilize it.
    And in the city, I don’t really believe you need a 800+ horsepower car, since you’d be pulled over daily it you tried pushing it.
    Any future ecoboost owners, word of advice, invest in a high quality exhaust, and enjoy. It’s a great car for a great price.

    Get the Mustang GT. I bought a 2017 Mustang V-6 and always look to see if a passing Mustang is a GT, Ecoboost, or V-6. Unfortunately, I can't get pass the plastic oil and transmission pans that Ford now puts on the Mustang GT. If they used metal ones, I would trade up in a minute. Meanwhile I keep hoping that gas goes back to $5 a gallon and I'll be called a genius for having the V-6.

    Would be nice to know the price of the GT optioned up the same as the Echo Boost,also I presume the GT runs on premium fuel 98 in Australia ,whilst the Echo Boost runs on cheaper fuel91,difference in price here is 20 cents per litre,which makes the GT a lot more expensive to run.

    GT Performance pack 1 all day long. I have nothing agents the eco boost, I just feel if you're buying a Mustang you should go all the way. However you can't lease a GT. Ford will not do lease programs/incentives on them. But you can lease a fully optioned eco boost no problem. Which makes no sense, Ford competitors Dodge and Chevy have lease programs on V8 Camaro's and V8 Chargers and Challengers. I guess Ford likes loosing out on money.

    I looked seriously at the Mustang last year. No question that the Ecoboost was the better choice imo. I don't live in Kansas. I live in the Pacific Northwest where back roads are filled with curves and mountains actually exist. With the available performance and suspension upgrades, the Ecoboost is a credible alternative to a European sports car. The GT is a classic American muscle car where performance is measured in 0-60 times, quarter-mile times, and engine sound. The 300 lb weight difference over the front wheels is the equivalent of carrying around an NFL offensive lineman under the hood. Weight balance? Fugget about it. The Ecoboost is far better. Run each on a fifty mile loop through the mountains and I'll guarantee the driver of the Ecoboost will be on a second beer by the time the GT pulls into the parking lot. And all that doesn't even touch the amenities available in the Ecoboost for the price of a base GT.
    NUff said. Put it bluntly. Those looking for a driver's car on roads with curves and mountains to climb may well opt for the Ecoboost Mustang. Those who live in flyover country and those insecure about their gender identity will love the GT.

As the manual dies out and and how sought-after they will be including equipped with the v8 its going to hold the value much better.
