I really enjoy watching these F2F comparison videos, with these you don't even need to visit the dealership lol (unless you've already made up your mind and gonna purchase).
Peronally I would buy the HP ECO Mustang over the Mustang GT. Mainly because of the sound. I don't care for loud sounding V8's but I like power. I know, know. I'm in the minority on that one.
I like V8s, I’m thinking the ecoboost will be my first “muscle car” as a weekend racer, for burnouts and an overall project car. I’m 15, I can’t afford insurance on my truck, the other truck I’m getting this year and a GT mustang. I would love to though
This comparison actually just helped me make a decision on my new Ford Mustang EcoBoost HPP, and I'm very happy with the handling and power. I got the handling package which is a must, and the 6 speed manual which is very good. I can't wait to take it on a track day and play with some other cars. I have a feeling it's going to do Very well in the corners...
I LOVE my HPP/HP 2020 Magnetic Metallic. This video convinced me a few years ago and I finally snagged one a couple months ago. Found a garage kept one with only 5500 miles.
I think people who bash these high dollar ecoboost forget that a fully loaded gt can cost around 50 grand! A base model gt convertible is 43 (correct me if I'm wrong). The 12 inch display, leather interior, High Performance Package/Handling Package and all other amenities is a good price for 43! Considering with some additional parts and and tune your outperforming a GT. This is also a fully loaded HPP EcoBoost so you may be able to find some that are in the mid to high 30's minus some niceties.
Additional parts on an Ecoboost outperforming a standard GT? The trade-off is that these cars motor is unrefined and thrashy and you don't get great MPG. I had one for a week and it was awful. You can get a GT in the 30'd easily. Having driven the Ecoboost I would never pay outside of the 20s for that thing.
This was extremely well done, Joe. A spec sheet can only tell you so much and it's often hard to get a test drive that allows one to exercise the handling capabilities of a car. This comparison answered all of my questions about the two vehicles. Thanks.
Very good point at 17:25 , a lot of people zonk the price being more than base gt, but people dont think about how the base gt does not have magneride, 12 inch display, sound system upgrades and all the other goodies, not to mention v8 insurance and gas price costs!
Man, I keep going back to the drawing board between 2018 gt or 2020 hpp ecoboost... I absolutely LOVE the front end of the HPP, really shows just how many differences their are versus a "normal" ecoboost when they're sitting side by side. Thanks for the Quality content like always, Joe!
A even bigger question is. Why call the highend Mustangs Shelby's? Why not just call them Cobra's? Especially when they have Cobra logos all over them.
@@ddm62571 yeah svo would have been perfect. And I think they go with Shelby because of what happened with the viper. I'm pretty sure Ford was pissed after Shelby and Iacoca created the viper and never wanted to have that happen again so once they use it to differentiate themselves.
I’m also glad you mentioned about the base GT, similar pricing yes. But you get nothing out of what you get with a fully loaded HPP Mustang with all the goodies. If you option a GT the same way, you’re paying 50k for one
Hey Joe, I'm actually planning on getting a Mustang Ecoboost in the next month or so, and honestly you have really helped me decide on what to go with, so thanks a lot!
I with you on the comment about gt350 being a manual. It's all about the nostalgia of the 350. If would have been one of those cars you could only get in an automatic I wouldn't own a gt350. It completes the car. The six speed and the clutch is smooth as silk.
What a great video. This is the first video I've seen on the Eco Boost (both versions) that was so detailed and with so much driving time. I"m a GT guy but the High performance is really really nice.
All mustangs have a limited slip differential included as standard equipment at no extra charge. The difference here is that the HPP has a Torsen differential with steeper 3.55 gears. Check any base ecoboost Mustang window sticker under functional for the excerpt below *****LIMITED SLIP REAR AXLE ****
Hey Joe, great video , I totally get what you are trying to put across . Ford has always had options for all Mustang Owners, so there will always be people choosing the V 8 or the 6 and now the 4cyl.. I have owned them all , ending up with the 2018 Eco... I am having a blast getting around town, so to each their own, just remember , in a sense all us Ford folks are all on the same team. Keep up the great videos Joe.
I know I sound like everyone else but for the price I'd get a base GT because I love that V8 sound. But this mustang Ecoboost is pretty good for what it is. Great review as always joe.
@ExtraSync Do you not want one that performs up to standard too? Get you a LFP Mustang GT. It'll come with a warranty and won't break the bank when compared to other cars with its power capability. It'll also have the same look. I don't think you'd turn down 800hp.
Well done Joe! I don't know why I missed out on this EcoBoost with HPP when it first came out. I guess it was really due to V8 bias but honestly, the more I learn about this Mustang EcoBoost with the HPP the more impressed I am especially with that handling package and the fact Ford offers this in a 6 speed manual is the icing on the cake. I enjoy driving and not constant visits to the pump so this Mustang with 330+ horsepower, RWD, 6-speed manual, active exhaust and great MPGs is really getting my attention. Thanks and again well done!
Despite my preference for a V-8, I like this HPP 4-Turbo. The only thing I don't like is the sound. My 2004 VW GTI 1.8T sounds a lot better inside and out. I don't expect a deep V8 rumble, but I would like the HPP to have a deeper, richer sound coming out of the exhaust tips. Otherwise, I really dig it.
Hell yeah It’s worth it if the buyer likes it and it makes financial sense for them... the real question is why Ford did not badge this Mustang the SVO...
I am a proud owner of a 2019 EcoBoost Premium. With that being said, I love my car, but there is no way on this green planet that I’d pay $43k for an Eco when I can pay $44k for a nicely spec’ed GT. However, this Performance Pack Eco is probably the best handling car next to the GT350 because of the weight difference.
Joe touched on this before... Ford does not want an EcoBoost to be as fast as a GT. Could it be?... yes, if you get it tuned. But then again you can also get a GT tuned.
Again liking this video before watching it because u r true car guru and u r working very hard I can see that which I really appreciate and respect that
Love the Colour on the more standard Mustang. Orange & Black have always been a great combination. In my part of the world silver is no big deal just what the dealers ordered because they are afraid of having to choose a colour. One salesman told me they order silver because it does not show dirt.
The orange one looks nice with the blackout trim, which I usually prefer, but the silver HPP version, it's so much nicer. Not cheap, but reasonable for everything it has, and the performance and handling, and for much less than a GT with the same equipment. I am trying to avoid turbos in general, but I know this is much more reliable than the Camaros or other GM cars now, and it should be good to go if you change the synthetic oil often, proper maintenance and care, and do thrash it.
So I just build the mustang GT PP1 with magneride and voice activation navigation including active anti theft system comes to 48,690 also forgot race stripes
I live in Florida and where I live the dealers try to discourage people from buying used GTs. My sister works at a dealership and told me how they inflate the prices and keep only a few on the lot because it gives people an option NOT to buy the EcoBoost. The EcoBoost is a tough sell and the dealers offer big incentives to get people into them. She said when lightly used GTs come in as trades they auction them instead of cleaning and selling them to not compete with Ecos. The used car stores like Carmax are where a lot of people go and buy used GTs because of the non inflated prices.
2020 EB PP2 -- i'll possibly buy one for the track ?? hopefully a lot better tire wear than my other rides. Upgrade tires and brake pads for track, stick a roller bar in it and hammer down!! It's kinda slow but looks like it might be lots of fun to drive at 10/10 for a lot less $$.
The v6 sounds decent, but it’s slower than the ecoboost, and I get high 20’s to 30 average mpg on a road trip on the highway. I was really afraid of the ecoboost being too much like a Subaru, but it’s really great. Sound is good, performance is awesome.
Were going around a 35 mph turn at 60 were losing a little traction here lol......I zonk the stitching on the E brake lever as well 43k and they ran out of thread .
Great comparison showing why to never buy a base EcoBoost. My sister would drive one because she likes the way Mustangs look but doesn't really care about performance. Personally, i'd sit on cloth seats all day long in a base GT over any 4 banger. Even if the power was the same, i could not live with that sound. More GT 350 please! 😉
Wait those front bumpers were designed after the Darth Vader? No wonder how it looked so familiar. I fell in lose with that design as soon as I saw it and now I finally figured out why.
I believe, although the same displacement, the engines are not the same. The HPP motor is made in Spain and and the block is more robust than the standard 2.3 motor.
Joe gotta ask again.. how does the HPP handling compare with a '19 Eco equipped with the '19 PP? I can have the tires lose it, but that does take quite a bit. Holds the line quite nice as well.
I have just bought an eco boost high performance mustang. I'm assuming it comes with handling. It has a recall on the brake pedal. I have to wait for them to repair the recall before I can pick it up.
Awesome review Joe! Great comparison. The Ecoboost is not my cup of tea, but for those that don't care about the V8 sound it can be had for a decent price. With that being said, I got my '19 GT premium PP1 with active exhaust and carbon fiber interior package for the price of that HPP Ecoboost. Plus I got 0% financing for 72 months. Just saying. Great video brother and shout out to big guns 💪 And btw I love that orange but the iconic silver is drop dead sexy!!
2) sorry, one more question: Can you get the Black accent package WITH the HPP?? (I really like the black roof!) Love these comparison videos Joe! Pls keep em coming. :)
Nice comparison review Joe! Do not know why the HPP Ecoboost is only 330 HP when the Focus RS with basically the same engine is 350 HP. Both have the same 350 torque🤔
@@Joe_Friday oh yea, definitely sooooo amazing one,but um im more interested on a regular gt for now.Depends on how this year goes. Thanks a lot for the question because i never know that lfp exist and now im considering that as a choice.Have a great week !!🙂
You do realize Howard Mustangs always came with different engines other then a V8. 330 HP and 350 torque. Fine for me as most people will NEVER EVER get their V8 GT or GT350 on a track.
Prob better to wait for discounts and rebates if you want the HPP EB. Weeks later, I don’t see how you don’t go the GT (or SS/392 if you like the competition) route with that price range. Don’t hate the EB, but it’s not worth 40k lol
I’m old and I remember the SVO Mustang I loved that car very European in styling and handling. However back then you could buy. 5.0 LX for a lot less money. While the 5.0 was faster in a straight line in the corners the SVO would walk away from it. Fords done a better job this time around I still believe that it needs at least 375hp to complete with the V8. Sure you can modify it but some would rather not have to do anything to it. Where I live I would buy the turbo myself keep the gearing tight and your always in the power band. Don’t forget the better mileage in the 2.3. I would buy a V8 if I lived somewhere out West where it could stretch its legs. While the 2.3 sounds better then last year I’m not impressed with it. Have to find something that has a deeper growl. Make mine a six speed please. Lastly the biggest thing to remember is 99.9% of people want a loaded car with all the toys. I priced one out online right at $40,000K . And that was with the HPP package.
Alright, another two for one review! Lots of performance in that silver one which I like. Price, not so much. Oh well, you get what you pay for. Good job Joe! Thanks for the comparison. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
conditions must be perfect. And it's highly dependent on trans. The auto gets to 60 much faster because you don't have any shifting delay. The Ecoboost I rented that made me want one got to 60 faster consistently than my six speed GT but after that it got left in the dust. That's why I don't like the GT 500, yeah the auto performs better in the numbers game but lacks severely in smiles per gallon compared to the stick.
Richard Romero 200hp will do fine in the city, the car has plenty low end torque. In the highway it’ll have best in class fuel economy(40mpg I believe), and will have decent passing power.
HI after I purchased my 2020 premium echo boots hpp # 630 I found your add, Wow very nice MY ruby red 10 spd blk leather stitched digital Cluster, drag strip mod,s 3.55 rear axle loaded This car can easily be one of one. everyone that's has seen this car says they haven't seen another like this 1 of 1
Really surprised you would say that Joe! Base Mustang GT or an EcoBoost with top tier trim. I really, being an enthusiast, thought you would take the GT base over an upgraded EcoBoost. The HI PO Ecobooost is a great car. It really is. But if I’m buying a Mustang, I’m buying a Mustang. And that means GT and a big fat, loud V8. Otherwise, if I’m more concerned about a nicer interior in a 4 cylinder turbo over a 302 with 460 HP but with cloth seats… if that were the case, I’d buy a Focus RS, or a Golf R or even, dare I say, a WRX STI. Those a 4 cylinder turbos like the EcoBoost but they are smaller cars. Lighter cars. They were built with a 4 banger in mind. Very surprised to hear you would take a 4 cykinder ECOBOOST with an upgraded interior over a GT with the V8. To me, half the emotion from cars comes from the sound, growl of engine and exhaust note. And the Mustang has the best sound in the biz. I’m disappointed In your decision Joe Raiti
I like this car. I think Ford missed an opportunity to revive the SVO...this is going to be a niche in the Mustang world anyway (happens when your 5.0 is so beloved and GOOD!). They should give it a European flair, almost like a poor man's M3, in wheel style, do the NACA scoop on the hood to cool the engine as a nod to the 80's SVO, maybe a bi-plane spoiler on back...as you can tell, this is experiencing the same fate as the SVO did...people like it, but they don't love it, and love is what gets the buy these days. But keep this in mind...this HPP 4 cylinder Mustang would probably walk an LS6 454 Chevelle in the quarter mile. What a time to be a performance car fan!
I bought a GT with performance pack level 1, automatic transmission and tech package for a total of 38500 in 2018. These ecoboost are amazingly expensive. 43k for ecoboost🤯😬

I guess if the engine isnt the deal breaker for you, you could get a fully loaded ecoboost for around the lower gt models.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate you watching!
This is the best review ever, you helped me choose mine
When you get to a level, take these cars to a track!
That is the plan.
1970 Cobra Jet 428, 0-60 5.7 seconds, 1/4 mile 14.3 100mph, 2018 ecoboost, 0-60 5.3 , 1/4 mile 13.9 97.2 mph. Context.
And the 1970 takes about three times longer to stop and burns three times the gas and handles like a pregnant roller skate
#slow
Great work Joe ! Thanks for the great review.
Thank brother! I really appreciate that!
Wait those front bumpers were designed after the Darth Vader? No wonder how it looked so familiar. I fell in lose with that design as soon as I saw it and now I finally figured out why.
I a so glad that I could share that with you!
Meh you are one of the few. The original I think looked way better and I'm happy Ford didn't give the Shelby's the catfish treatment.
Fantastic comparison. I learned a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to say that!
If I'm correct, with the EcoBoost High Performance Package for a convertible, you Can't get the optional Handing Package from what I understand.
3600lbs?! Good grief. I'll zonk that!
Love your energy, man. Thanks
Thanks man!
I think every Mustang has a limited slip differential (just the gear ratio/type is different)
At that price point it makes more sense just to get the GT instead.
AFREED, unless somebody wanted something different.
Thorough comparison. I really enjoyed this
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Wait the ecoboost still has the same top speed of a GT?! Damn I should consider sticking with the eco then
Yes sir.
I believe, although the same displacement, the engines are not the same. The HPP motor is made in Spain and and the block is more robust than the standard 2.3 motor.
Thanks for that extra info!
Joe gotta ask again.. how does the HPP handling compare with a '19 Eco equipped with the '19 PP? I can have the tires lose it, but that does take quite a bit. Holds the line quite nice as well.
I'd like to know the answer to that too
I have just bought an eco boost high performance mustang.
Hey Eric! Thanks for the compliment! I really appreciate your great input.
2) sorry, one more question: Can you get the Black accent package WITH the HPP?? (I really like the black roof!)
Love these comparison videos Joe! Pls keep em coming. :)
No you cant, its two different packages
@@unimportantsir7915 well that sucks! thx for reply!
Actually you can't Laurie. Thanks for being so awesome and always watching!
I agree with both comments!
Nice comparison review Joe! Do not know why the HPP Ecoboost is only 330 HP when the Focus RS with basically the same engine is 350 HP. Both have the same 350 torque🤔
I totally agree with you Robert! It has me scratching my head!
Because they don't want to step on the GT's toes.
@@DragonKnightX12 ford tuned it to have a broader torque band
I'm just here for the ZONKS. LOVE the channel
Thanks for letting me share them with you and for your great support!
The Mustang is getting better and better ... ... American Middle Class Pride...
I totally agree!
Im starting to consider the buy of an ecoboost mustang, thanks Raiti, the orange one looks awesome. 😊👍
I am glad that I could share them with you! I love the Orange especially with the blacked out package.
Did you get one?
@@Joe_Friday oh no,for now im gonna keep the pacifica 2018 until i can afford another car.
@@christiangarcia9307 Well if you are set on a mustang have you looked at the LFP Mustangs?
@@Joe_Friday oh yea, definitely sooooo amazing one,but um im more interested on a regular gt for now.Depends on how this year goes. Thanks a lot for the question because i never know that lfp exist and now im considering that as a choice.Have a great week !!🙂
Again I ask. What’s the point of having a 2.3 high performance mustang?
For those that want more but not more cylinders.
It depends on how many dealers are getting!
I'm pretty sure 5Star tuning will come up out with a program to boost the power!!
For some reason, no one yet has done a full track test of the new Ecoboost Mustang.
I would love to be the first!
Raiti's Rides you’d be the first to test it and I’ll get the 🍿
I’m old and I remember the SVO Mustang I loved that car very European in styling and handling.
I totally remember Kevin!
Alright, another two for one review! Lots of performance in that silver one which I like. Price, not so much. Oh well, you get what you pay for. Good job Joe! Thanks for the comparison. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Larry what would I do without you! Thanks for always being present!
My 2020 HPP key fob has the pony
Really like this version. With the limited slip, could this be a year round vehicle?
price please ????
these cars depreciate so badly honestly i wouldn't buy new. $43k is INSANE
Can we get a 0-60 pull? I'm wondering if it lives up to 4.5 seconds
I will get that together for you!
conditions must be perfect. And it's highly dependent on trans. The auto gets to 60 much faster because you don't have any shifting delay. The Ecoboost I rented that made me want one got to 60 faster consistently than my six speed GT but after that it got left in the dust. That's why I don't like the GT 500, yeah the auto performs better in the numbers game but lacks severely in smiles per gallon compared to the stick.
thanks, great presentation !
Of course Philip!
Would love to see a gen 5 viper on the channel, if you can get your hands on one!
So would I! I will try to track one down.
Raiti's Rides thanks and good luck!
Joe, the 4 cylinder Camry does it have plenty of power, or do you prefer the v6
Richard Romero 200hp will do fine in the city, the car has plenty low end torque. In the highway it’ll have best in class fuel economy(40mpg I believe), and will have decent passing power.
I like the smoothness of the V6.
That is a great point Jimmy!
@@jimmypena2442 thank you
@@RaitisRides thanks Joe
How are you Joe I'm a fan of that 2020 Mustang Ecoboost have to check it out
My base ecoboost comes with a lsd btw
amazing as always
love the comparison
Thanks I really appreciate that!
In this video you say that the regular EcoBoost engine has a zero to sixty in about 5.2 seconds, is this correct?
yes
I bought a GT with performance pack level 1, automatic transmission and tech package for a total of 38500 in 2018.
These ecoboost are amazingly expensive. 43k for ecoboost🤯😬
$43k I think is fully loaded with the 401A package and B&O system l.
Once discounts roll it will be down under $40k.
This is the one will buy.
awesome review the best video i’ve seen so yet
