You’re a great crochet teacher! This was my second hat and it turned out so great except I made an extra round so it’s big haha. But practices makes perfect! Thank you for this lovely tutorial.
I just made one for my husband. Very easy to follow. I didn't know how to do the herringbone double crochet stitch until I watched your video. Thank you! ❤
I'm going to try this in Pima cotton for a man who had radiation treatment for cancer. Thank you in advance navy blue I think it will be a comfort.
I'm older and my eye sight is not too keen. I can't see the stitches with the dark yarn. I noticed in other tutorials that used lighter colored yarn it was easier to see
I totally agree. I have the same. Great tip!
I agree
And here Im feeling the same way…old eyes
I cant see ot either its just a dark blob 😢
I made this hat with 66 stitches instead of 55, and it still came out quite small. It fits my head very snugly, and definitely won’t fit my father in law who I was making it for. I definitely recommend going quite a bit bigger if making it for a man.
Also, would love to see round instructions in text on the video so it’s easy to scrub through! I was relying on ccs which was tough
I made this my joining was very neat for the first time, there is a stitch I use to leave out the last one before the joining, thanks appreciate this partten, going and try another of your hat
This was a great tutorial! Thank you! I have never done a magic circle or the herringbone double crochet stitch. This was very easy to follow. Many thanks!
Thanks ! This is just what I’m looking for, for a gift, thanks again 😊
Ty for sharing this pattern. I didn't know the herringbone double crochet stich. Ur instructions were really easy to follow.
I made this for my husband such an easy pattern and he absolutely loved it. I’m wanting to make a matching one for my 3 yr old son too. Just have to figure out how to adjust it.
Lovely pattern and easy to follow, thank you! I've just made two for my brother's birthday, one dark grey with lighter stripes, then with the same wool one light grey with darker stripes. They look great, thanks again 😊
I’m glad they turned out great! Thanks for watching! :)
Great and easy to understand instructions. Thank you!
I absolutely love this hat for a man or boys. I think the stitches are beautiful. I like it so much I might make one for myself in a white or beige color. Thank you so much.
I’m so happy you love it! And yes you should most definitely make one for you! :)
I just made this beanie using the exact colors you chose. I absolutely LOVE IT!! I had never changed colors with the technique you did, as Im pretty new to crocheting, but it was so easy! This is for my son's birthday, and Im sure he will love it too. I want one as well, the colors are actually very pretty😄Thank you for this pattern, its awesome!
I do love that yarn, it is my favorite “man hat” yarn! So glad you like it, I hope your son does too! :)
Love this hat. Easy to understand instructions. Thank you.
Just made this beanie. First time using this stitch and first time using a magic ring. Very pleased with the outcome. About to start my second one.
Just found your pattern for herringbone beanie. I didn’t know how to do that stitch. Your video is awesome! Very easy to understand & you are so precise with instructions. Thank you so much & God Bless💖
I just learned a new stich from your video. Thank you for sharing. 😊
I ended up using a 3 weight yarn with a 4.5 hook and it turned out great. A little small but it almost looks knitted, which I really like. It fits like a glove but I know from experience it’ll get loser in time, so I like them a bit tighter at first. Thanks for sharing the herringbone stitch, a new one to me.
This is my new goto beanie pattern! Just made this in black and the lines are in red - really pops out
What an honor! Haha! Thank you! :)
The BEST beanie I ever made. I LOVE IT. Thanks a lot. You're a BOSS.
What an awesome comment to receive! “You’re a BOSS” haha! Thanks for making me smile! :) and thanks for watching! So glad you love it!
I made this absolutely adorable men’s beanie. He loved it so much he asked me to make one for his fiancé. Thank you for this easy, adorable beanie!
This my 3rd hat and it is a quick amend pro looking hat. Thank you!
Thank you I just made this hat for my son. showing me how to do the herringbone double crochet love it.
Just made it for my hubby and he likes it so much... Thank you for sharing your pattern. ❤
thank you for sharing! i just finished one for my brother who will be here in the morning, i used redheart camouflage print with no stripes & it turned out awesome...
if i weren't so tired i would crochet another one real quick, your pattern is easy to follow & i loved learning the new stitch... 💙
This is a great looking hat , thank you for sharing your pattern. It looks like it has good stretch so the hat isn't tight on your head.
Thank you so much for this pattern I’m almost finished did it in Camo with the orange stripe. I think he will like it.
I had so much fun learning this pattern. Mine came out small but I think the yarn I chose was a tighter blend and I tend to make tighter stitches, I'm going to try again and see if I can find the yarn you used. Are you able to post the written round instructions? Sometimes that's easier than stopping and starting video.
I agree, you're a great teacher though, cery easy to follow. Thank you!
I just finished a mans beanie from a different video, I wish I had seen this first... this is a really nice hat...
made this yesterday and today and i will say, some video crochet tutorials are kind of confusing and not well explained, but your teaching method is very easy to follow! thank you for sharing this pattern! also i will say i did do two more rows of increasing on my beanie because i have a large head!
Great work. I would like to know if you have any written pattern of this project. I like to follow writing instructions than following a video.thanks
Just finished my first beanie thank you .you made it so easy to follow..
I love this totorial I’m sure I can do it thanks so much
I have literally tried making a hat 5 times and frogged and I mean I went start to finish and let's just say it never worked. I was given this tutorial and I followed it and I did it. Looks great feels great. Thankyou. Plus I did it in 1 day. Love this hat. Thank you so much
Yay, you did it! Im glad it worked out. Thanks for watching! :)
Very easy tutorial to follow. I made one and it came out well. Thank you so much!!!
Getting lots of compliments on this hat, very easy to follow, thank you
That’s great! :)
Thank you so much for the tutorial which was so easy to follow. I made one and it came out well. I also learnt a new crochet stitch. Bless you!👏
In your first 11 stitches, do you count the one with the 2 chains or not?
Very easy to follow…did not know the herring bone stitch till now…Ty for making it easy…looking forward to more of your tutorials
Thank you for sharing your pattern & very easy to follow, appreciate it!
Thank you, and you are welcome! :)
Thank you for this pattern! I'm making this for my fiancée, I'm sure he's gonna love it 😍
I have just finished making one. Thank you for making the pattern so easy to follow.
Thank you for a quick, easy, pretty project. It looks really good on.
So happy that that you like it! thanks for watching! :)
Hello! This was a excellent video. Love the pacing and calmness of your teaching. By any chance do you know the total yardage to make this hat? Thanks for your guidance. ❤
I really love this hat 🎩. Thanks so much for the great tutorial.
😊💚😊💚
Thanks so much I really enjoyed working this pattern and learning a new stitch.
Hi! Nice tutorial. When you complete your circle with 55 stitches, what is its diameter?
Beautiful easy excellent explanation nice and beautiful design easy for the beginners Enjoy very much and thank you so much job well done
Thank you for the pattern, I made one with Toronto Maple Leaf colours, blue with white stripes.
Just completed this hat for my son in law. Very pleased with the outcome. Thank you for this great tutorial.
Very easy to follow! Thank you
Know you aired this more than a year ago, but I wanted you to know how much I love this beanie. I only started crocheting in July last year, so I watch a ton of crochet videos…..and every time (ten-twenty at least) I make this hat I think how you are the ONLY one who taught me a unique crochet stitch that really fits the pattern. Nowhere else have I ever seen the herringbone double crochet used, and I wanted to thank you very much. Haven’t seen a lot from you lately and hope you are well. Thank you again 🙏🏼❤️😊
I’m so glad you enjoy making the hat! And thank you so much for reaching out and having such kind things to say. I know I haven’t been on here for a while, I am trying to get my head straight. My oldest son is now officially a United States Marine, and him being away at Boot Camp really did a number on me! I did not expect to handle it the way that I did (not well! Haha!) it’s hard when your babies leave! I will be back at it soon though!
Ideas are finally starting to pop back into my brain! Thank you very much for not giving up on me! :)
@@OmiCrochet Having “let 4 babies go” myself, I completely understand - it was a black day my oldest went off early to college to play water polo; but I have to say, it got easier with his brothers and sister 😊 I hope you are very proud of your son, hard as I know it was to let him go - please thank him for his service from me. 🙏🏻
@@maryannberry3171 I am so very proud! :)
Thank you for the tutorial, I learned a new stich and made a great Christmas gift
Loved this tutorial, and made the beanie , it is really Beautiful thank you
Thank you for the pattern, very easy to follow it .
Three of the hats different ones that you have on tutorial and I have had some of the best compliments and I must give you props because you teach it very well on your tutorial and I'm excited to try more projects watching your videos. One thing I really truly like to see is a large Market bag or beach bag because every one of them that I have tried or have seen I can't seem to get so if you would teach it I know I would be able to get it
Thanks for the props! Haha! I do have a tutorial for a BoHo market bag, here is the link…

I love this bag I use it every day! If you end up making one I’d love to know how it turns out! Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks much! VERY good instructions!
Hi OmiCrochet (and others who made this hat). I am working on making this hat with a weight 4 yarn and 5.5 mm hook, and my circle at the end of round 5 (first round with 55 stitches) looks like it could be smaller than the video. Maybe my gauge is different. Could you possibly provide the diameter of your circle at that point? Since the rest of the hat maintains the 55 stitches around, I think round 6 would be my chance to do one more increase round if my gauge is too small compared to the video.
Thanks...looking forward to finishing this! ☺️
Thank you for such a great beanie ❤️ I made it for my favorite uncle's birthday. I know he's going to love it.
Very clear instructions. It would be better if a light colour yarn is used so that we can see clearly.
Just made my husband one. I love this pattern. Ty ☺
I’m glad you love it. Thanks for watching! :)
You are the best teacher on youtube! Thank you so much for this.
That is so nice of you to say! Thank you! :)
Going to try making this for my dad for Christmas :)
Thank you for using a bearded model. :) My dad will be appreciate it when I show him this video.
Long live the beard! :)
Thank you, I just finished it.
Very beautiful, well explained, you are wonderful.
I love the herringbone stitch! Nice tutorial, very easy to follow. I subscribed. 😊
Great tutorial really easy to follow thank you for sharing 😀
I will try to make this hat, but want to make a brim that fits snug around the head first. I’ll have figure out how to attach it at the end.
I’ve made several hats from your tutorial and everyone loves them! Would you have any recommendations as far as stitch count / hook size, if I wanted to use a chunky yarn?
I love the hat and im making it for my father n law and I know he will love it. Thank you. I'm new to your channel and i had to join. God Bless You and Your Family
One of the most beautiful men beanie. I will make it for my son
That is so kind of you to say. Thank you :)
Great tutorial, thank you!
Love this!!! Thank you!!!
Excellent Tutorial love the hat. Thank you
Yay! So happy that you love it…thanks for watching! :)
@@OmiCrochet I made like 5 of these My honey says they are all his lol
Just made two of the beanie hats. For a Christmas gift 🎁 👍 thanks beautiful ❤️ merry Christmas ⛄🎄
This is a beautiful hat. I will try this today.
I love this patterns I am just wondering if I wanted to do this hat for my 8 year old boy do I just lower the magic circle count?
I would start out with the same number of stitches in the magic circle and increase to round 4 (44 stitches) if you think it needs to be a little bigger then add in a few more stitches in round 5. :)
I’m going to give this a go! Thanks so much because I can’t read instructions. I have no idea what is being said because I’m a beginner!
You can do it! :)
Made this for my dad's birthday! It turned out great 😊
Well mine turned out a little large. But maybe I can use it for a bowl. I’m gonna buy some glasses, I think I had trouble seeing the stitches. It was literally the second thing I ever crocheted so wasn’t expecting it to be perfect but it is hilariously huge. But towards the second ring of color I for sure had it down.
New subscriber 🤗. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful tutorial
Great pattern! Thank you so much!
Making it now! Lovely tutorial, thank you 😊
Love the hat, going to make some! This is an excellent tutorial, saved it! New sub
I'm 9 rows into this and loving this stitch! I really appreciate that you say the number of stitches that need to be in each row as you finish it, so helpful. Is there a written reference anywhere?
And a gauge? Even with worsted yarn and a 6mm hook I'm afraid mine is coming out small...
I’m so sorry but no there is no written pattern. It’s just not something I’ve gotten around to yet. My husband head measures 22 1/2 inches in circumference if that helps.
When I tried making the hat in the 11th row it seemed a lot smaller than the one that is depicted in the video. How do I make it as big as you make it?
Are you using same size hook and yarn... Another wise keep increasing to size needed. I hope it helps
Oh my gosh, didn't think I would ever get the magic ring. Finally clicked! Thank you!The first hat came out great. My son has a big head (25 inches) and after reading thru all the comments I am going to increase the stitches at the beginning. If you have any other tips, let me know 🙂 thanks so much. Kate, Detroit,MI
Yay! I’m so proud of you! Haha! That magic ring can be tricky! :) so happy to hear that hat came out great!
Kate! How many did you increase to for 25 inch?? Ive tried to read through all the comments and cannot find any reply from Omni on gauge for size.
@@ashleyrutkowski4384 Hi Ashley 🙂 I was trying to find the hat and of course can't find that one lol. I know I had increased the stitches in the magic circle. I was thinking it was 16 or 18. I decided to make another one and this time I placed 22 stitches in the magic circle and then followed Katie's tutorial. The hat looks giant but my son likes it big and roomy rather than snug. Good luck! It is a great hat. Katie (OmiCrochet) is so talented)😍❤ Take care, Kate
I made this hat with gray and red. I will figure out a way to post it. My son loved it. Thank you
Yay! I’m so happy that he likes it! :)
Love it! Gonna make tonight!
It is a worsted weight yarn and a 5.5 mm hook. The 10mm yarnology hook is very similar in color. Hope that helps and I’d love to know how it turns out! :)
@@OmiCrochet Thank you! I apologize. I did end up going back to the beginning again -not sure how I missed it the first time.
Thanks for the tutorial...love it..pls tell me the flat crown size of this beanie in inches. Also tell me the circumference of this hat.
I gifted the hat quite a while ago, so I dont have the measurements on hand. It fits my husband had and his measurement is 22.5 inches in circumference. I hope that helps.
Not sure where I went wrong. I know my tension is tight but it's usually not that far off. I made this hat yesterday following every step but it came out too small for even my 1 yr old. 😔 I'm going to try again hopefully I can get it right for my husband.
Oh this is amazing. Looks super easy to follow. I can’t wait to get started on one for my brother!
I made this beanie and love the way it turned out. However, instead of it fitting my boyfriends head, it fits mine, which is significantly smaller. So, with that being said, how many extra stitches would I need to make it about 3.5" larger?
Any suggestions for thinner yarn? I made this and it turned out to be beautiful 😍 but too tight and short. I made it longer by adding 5 stripes but couldn't do anything about the width.
Thank you!! I’ve made two of these for guys in my family. Easy, fit well, great job on instructions. New stitch for me.
My one bit of feedback is, can you record your voice at a louder setting on future videos please? The intro music is fine but then when you voice comes in the volume drops. I have my tablet cranked full up, even with earbuds I found it difficult especially if someone is watching something else the same room as me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us in the RUclips community.
Yay I’m glad that they fit well. And I know, others have reached about the volume issue. I reached out to RUclips support to see if I could boost it on my end and unfortunately I cannot. In more recent videos I have been cranking the volume when I edit. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching! :)
I think it depends on the ply. I used 8ply and they are very small. But the other pattern I used 10ply and they were bigger
Going to give this a try, would like to see the tutorial in a lighter colour yarn.
Thank you for the feedback. I think I might actually do that. Fingers crossed that it sometime soon! Thank you for watching! :)
WOW! I am going to try this
Thank you for the ❤️
