For a long time, I never would have dreamt of getting married and raising kids, but over time I’ve realized how much it actually matters to me and over this last year, I’ve been dreaming of homesteading and having as many children as possible and providing for them as a homemaker.

To make prep easier for the chicken fry, I throw all the chicken in the egg mixture. Then told the chicken into flour mixture. Then use a large metal sift to get any extra flour off before I toss each batch into the skillet.

When we moved into our new home, the dining room had no wall big enough for our china cabinet. I loved this piece so much and did not want to stick it into any old room. I put it in our living room. All my china is in the bottom cabinets but the shelving above is filled with vintage books, picture frames and some of my milk glass. I change out a few things for the different seasons but otherwise it is a well curated bookshelf. It’s a great way to use beautiful antique cabinets!

What a lovely home and cooking you are providing for your family. I love looking through design books even if they are outdated. Why, because everything comes around again in some form or fashion. I like you, will thumb through a book many times and try to post note the finds. You sure do make cooking look so easy. I admire that about your videos because I do not like to cook at all. I wish I did! Thank you again for sharing your space, home and kitchen!!

Have you considered those old oil lamps with glass shades? I've seen them at hobby lobby that use bulbs rather that oil which would be great with kids. (I know I would worry mine would get oil all over the place. ) But they look vintage like the old oil lamps on the outside. I could see one working really nicely in your home.

I need those design books! They look so good. We just bought a 1920s colonial revival and I'm thinking of design. A perk is that the entire house is coming with the antique furniture that will help me SO much to set the foundation of design because all the furniture is beautiful. Just have to add our personal touches. Also I've been wnating to ask you for years and always forget- but does your family love listeing to music? If so what kind of music? I'm imagining y'alls windows open and enjoying bluegrass music. But I could totally be wrong.

Your Fracture photos are so precious. Wish every gallery wall came with a template! So excited to see the living room transformation. When I hear you talk about the ideas it starts me thinking about those small touches that add so much to a room. (I have a huge amount of blue ticking and an old small Queen Anne style chair) Thank you for another wonderful episode! BTW, I agree with another subscriber that “Comfy, Cozy, Collected” would be a splendid title for your next book! True farmhouse style to me isn’t the kitschy stuff that is so prevalent in most stores, but more personal and not massed produced.

In 2000 I discovered my style on the floor of Barnes and Noble perusing through the decor books on the bottom shelf. I was so excited that I finally found my “feeling” in colored pictures in a Cottage Style decor book! My husband found me with a huge smile on my face. My style has evolved over the years but I’ve stayed true to the basics of what cottage style is which is cozy and comfortable.

Your channel provides loads of information and I learn new things often, which is always a prize! You are so right. The dailiness of homemaking is very rewarding, taking care of the home, ultimately is for the purpose of taking care of those we love. There are fun, beautiful side. But, you made a good point today, there are repetitive tasks that require attention: laundry, bed making, perhaps diaper changing, dishes...There can be joy in doing these things, too, if we allow ourselves to realize that it is all part of the big picture of loving others in our lives.

I feel like my style is a mix of traditional farmhouse/country style with a little modern farmhouse. We just renovated a new home and are in the process of moving in and I’m the same way. I can look at the same images Pinterest 30 times and go each time with a new thought and get something new from every picture. We just hung curtains and I like them but then I saw someone a similar rod and curtains but used the clips and I’ve decided I wanted to try the clips now. I love home design and decor.

Hi Lisa! Love your commentary on your design process. I would like to hear your thoughts on design and the type of house one has. For example, I love your style, and that Ralph Lauren/thrifted Victorian look as well. However, we live in a suburb of Seattle. Our house was built in 2015. The interior leans towards modern. It is very far from a farmhouse or colonial American home that I long for. I think if I was to decorate it in the style I love, it would look weird. So, what would you do if you owned a home that doesn’t align with your dream aesthetic , but you also want to look nice and feel like “home”?
I hope that question makes sense. Thanks for any input!

I don't get new furniture right now but I love to change the arrangements on my tables and on the walls. Now we have to get pillows and blankets to go on everything. It never ends. That orange chicken looks so good. That is what I always order at Chinese restaurants . My grandma made crapes. She called them thin pancakes. We put butter then sugar and roll them up ., Or jam, they were so good. Thanks looking forward to the decorating. Joyce

I use carbon steel cookware and have been told to purchase a fish spatula to use with them. I figured it was just another unnecessary thing to spend my money on and my plastic/silicone spatulas would do the trick… it has been made very apparent through your videos that there is a huge difference lol so I’m ordering one today!

You are always such an inspiration, Lisa. I’ve been watching you for a few years now and you’ve really grown. I feel like, if we were all able to actually meet, or if this existed in a public forum, you would be 100% more approachable than a few years ago. Just experience? More babies? Intentional? Natural progression and maturation? 😂 You do, honestly, amaze me. You are beyond capable and talented. Your home is just becoming so yummy, homey, inviting, and natural. I love it so much. I love your ability to keep “things” to a minimum. I grew up in the 80s and my mom loved “things”. I took after her to a degree and some of my favorite memories are of me, mom, and grandma antiquing together. So much fun. We are all three nurses as well ❤️ aaaanyway lol…you are so good at keeping things manageable and I’m trying to emulate you in this area of my life. Baby is getting so big! Why does it have to go so fast?? 💙 🏡 🍲

Can you do a new bedroom tour of the kid's rooms? I'm in the process of needing to move kids and not sure how I want to do it. How do you separate boys? Do they all share?
