    It's amazing how I find EVERY single piece used in this room incredibly incredibly ugly and yet I find the room as a whole adorable. It's like some sort of magic. Rita truly is very talented.

    Rita has a style that nurtures the soul. People feel comforted in her rooms because of her intuitive sense of colour, scale, pattern and placement.
    I'm inspired. Thank you Rita.

    So thoughtful, so Right. I love the way she always has comfort and practicality in mind but has great sensitivity to colour, texture and beauty. She’s a genius.

    It’s a beautiful cozy room and I always love Rita’s vision. I would love to see how she would decorate a very small cottage type house.

    Thank you for a number of really great tips on decorating a home. When i think about how I want to decorate my first home, I do think in layers. I think about rugs, paintings, lamps, and writing tables. Specifically a place to sit down quickly and dash off a few emails or to pay a few bills. This room was so warm. I do think about wallpapers and paint and colors. I am still looking for the right house and these tips help me to understand how to work with the living room so it's comfortable and generates a feeling of warmth.

    Utterly sublime and an uniquely English sensibility. It is a real art to create a sitting room look so welcoming and effortless. And Rita does it so well. Adore the fabric - was it Lumac or Luma? Couldn’t quite work that out. Would absolutely love to know?

    I love your video. I learnt from you in your previous videos about taking furniture away from the walls, putting something behind a couch. I took that advice and it works in my home. Hope to see more videos from you.

    Loved the video! Thank you for including specific scenarios. So many interior designers describe their process as more instinctive, that pieces just go together. My favorite tip is about bigger furniture pieces in a small room, and how they can enhance a space without making it seem smaller.

    I so appreciate showing a room with standard height ceilings. I wish my house had 9' or 10' ceilings, but it's a 1960 house with just 8' ceilings. This video is really inspiring because what Rita did with this room is charming and can be replicated in the kind of homes most people have.

    Don't need tables at either end when you have a good coffee table... I've floated a sofa similarly with a low bookcase behind it, about 1 foot short the width of the sofa on either side (making getting around it easy enough to do), and a lamp (electric outlet in the floor). The color of the wall paper goes with everything. That's the colour of the paint I used (the background of the print) and I painted the room that colour despite it not matching anything in the room; what it did was make all the other colours pop. Pretty room.

    Thank you for posting and letting us in on these thoughtful ideas in approaching a space. I’m curious if the wallpaper was already in the house or where it can be found? It’s beautiful and I’m thinking it can be used in our (one and only) living room which maybe now I’ll call sitting room :) Thank you!

    I am looking to purchase a home from the 1890s or 1920s. Those homes have such character.

    • @MTMF.london
      @MTMF.london 8 месяцев назад

      They are full of character but they can be full of problems too. Plumbing and electricals could be outdated and many have low ceilings and poky rooms that are hard to deal with.
