League of Legends esports has now existed for well over a decade and has provided many gamers the opportunity to have a career from gaming. However, like all competitions, these esports tournaments have their own rules and sometimes, players simply forget the rules.
From picking the wrong items, forgetting to take smite, everyone makes mistakes. But often times making these mistakes in a professional tournament could lead to suspensions and fines.
Today we look into those mistakes.

Don't blame them. Its the same with all game companies. I play mtg arena and a few months ago, after an update, a huge bugg was found. Probably one of the worst game-altering buggs I've seen in a competitive online game. A certain cheap equipment in the game, thats supposed to only do 3 dmg to the opponent, suddenly started doing infinite damage and one-shoting people out of nowhere. The game company WoTC instead of actually fixing the bug, decided that they'd rather ban the hundreds of players who happened to abuse it, which is crazy to me.
You have to understand that a lot of those players have sunk thousands of hours and a lot of money into the game. Yet they'd now lose their accounts for a bugg a lot of them only tried out for fun.

The funniest thing about Vaevictus is that all of the girls were, in fact, sup mains. If you went to their stats back in the day, they were all playing support. They were also a team made at the last second including Plat players because the brand had the spot in the tournament but didn't have the players for the team itself, so they made an "all female" team with whoever was up for grabs - which is in fact quite disrespectful to the other pro players who take that as their career.
Since the team didn't know what to ban against them, as none of the girls had any prior pro experience or had ever met them in SoloQ, they just looked up their mains and banned them. It was literally their only valid strategy and they got punished for it.

    • @torrxknight2064
      @torrxknight2064 Год назад +265

That makes so much sense. "Noooo, you can't cripple the other team's ability to play by banning their mains!!" If you have a game with well over 100 champions, you can't have a good excuse to only main 1 or 2. What would you do if they ban them all? Lose? They exposed a weakness the other team had and wanted to use it to its fullest. They were there to WIN, not to "give them a fighting chance", which is sorta sexist to assume the all female team is incapable of winning or greatly hindered by a 5 support ban. They were playing with pros, and pros overcome challenges and adapt, which I guess Riot assumed the females were not capable of. Thanks for putting the story in the comments!

Sometimes it is totally justified to go and straight-up ban five supports, because someone like Omniknight, Ancient Apparition or Earthshaker can be absolutely devastating against some strategies. Just in general, through the past years, role of the support heroes grew to the point that teams without conventional cores can win the game easily, if they would play their cards right. I mean, iirc TI9 was won by Wisp-carry (normally a full-support hero, with basically zero offencive capabilities). Basically if the shoe fits or if the crime fits the bill. They may have made a simple mistake, but that doesn't mean they should be treated as if they broke the law and got fined in a court of law.
After seeing several incidents of companies abusing players of their being instances of unfair online rules or ridiculous punishments over simple mistakes or no justifiable reason at all, even some users being allowed to get away with causing trouble, i need to say gaming communities and companies should not be allowed to make their own rules at this point. It's becoming too chaotic and there needs to be a proper order to ensure that no one gets treated unfairly and proper justice is served. They all should be forced to follow a universal set of rules that guarantees fairness for both sides without bias no matter the company or online setting. If the player breaks a rule, then they are fairly punished, but if the company breaks a rule, they run the risk being blacklisted internationally, ex. product distribution suspended for a specified amount of time.

Riot even changed the rules that no more diamond players are allowed in pro play after this because Vulvavictis was breaking every negative record like lowest gold in a pro game, their midlaner averaging 4cs/min, highest losing streak, average gold disadvantage of 14000g per game and the fastes game loss in league history, just to name a few.
It is very disrespectful that they had to play vs a Women Meme Team that was made to provoke because Vaevictis actually could not get any pro players for their team, so they did this as a protest. Best part still was "while banning five supports is not against the rules, we finded them 10.000$" because it seemed disrespectful", who the actual fuck cares if it was disrespectful, the rule said they could ban whoever they want. Vaevictis played a champ that was banned from RIOT in a game btw, they did not get punished while cleary going against the rules, they got special treatment because they were women and that is the pinnacle of disrespect because they punished male players for sticking to the rules while not punishing female players for breaking them.

Something has to be said that you cant tell a pro team not to punish a team in bans (Which is like the whole point of having the bans) and to stop certain meta picks. If you have a team who gets destroyed purely by banning one class of champions in this case only supports that pro team needs to change out those players with other females with wider roles. Being good at support is one thing but having a whole team having issues because your only banning supports is a lack of foresight that NO pro team should have male or female as its generally a very easy thing to abuse and counter in a game where thats done on a daily basis in even unranked games

The porofesor cooldown tracker seems a bit too far for me. Leans closer to unfair advantage as anyone not using it is having to calculate times using the ingame clock, learned timings from experience, and still maintaining their apm, tactics and farming. Taking even one task away from all of this is a huge advantage and i think porofessor is leaning a bit to far in my opinion on the unfair advantage side with that.

For those who don't know and since Nicolai did not include the information involving the female team Vaevictis during that time supports were meta expecially enchaters. It was the ardent meta of having supports in mid and even karma top. Most of the champs picked then was lux, karma, lulu, nami and Janna, which were all played mid and top. Thresh and braum were also very strong at the time and the support player did actually play both of them as well.

Naw, i played back than, and what you are saying is only half true. Supports were good but not good enough to do what they did.
This was simply them trolling and goofing off while wasting bans for the lols. That being said, there is literally nothing against doing that, and if anything that type of behavior should be encouraged. It makes stories, and frankly I stopped watching esports, for good stories simply don't exist anymore.
Like how epic would it be, if you did 5 target bans towards one player saying "this is all you got and your useless without it" just for that same team to get a revenge win and stomp. Or lets say they lose, but train hard and come back ten matches later and crush the people who called them trash.
In sports you need good stories. So making a rule that you can't trash talk the enemy team through the form of target banning, or skipping bans is stupid. I know it's not the WWE and riot wants to encourage sportsmanship, but you should simply let the natural personalities exist. Other wise you kill narratives.

Valve had nothing to do with that tournament.
There is nothing wrong with drawing phallic arrows on the map for your team of friends that also do the same thing.
The tournament organizers did not historically have issues with this. It was a foreign broadcast team that took issue with it after they thought it would be a good idea to overlay every map ping and plan from all players on both sides to the audience with no context.
