A mixed team was already tried in dota 2. The girl had higher mmr than 2 other players on the team, but she couldn't handle the pressure of pro scene games and went back to streaming. 😅

Uh, I remember back in the ancient days of IIRC season two, when the game was A LOT slower, an Asian team (IIRC World Elite or Invictus Gaming) lost just as fast to... either SK or fnatic, I think. It can happen even to genuinely good teams.

Everyone who played Vaevictis eSports at that time had a very low rating on EUW, they were no higher than a Diamond 4. AND the organization had one female player who was a Diamond 1, but they kept her on the bench and never let her play because she didn't look good according to the managers of the organization. In general, knowing this is already enough
@John M. yeah but that still doesn't change that exceptions do exist, if a woman truly wants to be champion, if she trains and becomes better then she absolutely can win, especially in games as for the most part sports are divided due to men being naturally stronger on everage, however, games are more about reflexes and awarenes, and those two things can be something they can train to be on even ground with men, the fact exceptions exist proves that to be true It may be hard, but with hard work it can be achieved. So basically, all of that doesn't matter, especially in games since, again, it isn't a competition of strenght, it's more mental than enething else and that already excludes a good portion of the natural advantages men have, games in this regard are like guns, the great equalizer, it doesn't matter who you are, if you put in the work, you'll get there.

The thing is that league has mostly male players and only a very small amount of those become pro players. So the chance of having a female pro player is also much smaller. So if there are some really good female players out there, they won't be enough to make an all female team. The team at the end really showed a much more realistic approach, having one in the team instead of a whole team.
That's also the issue with hiring based on sex or race quotas where that sex/race make up a much smaller portion of applicants compared to their percentage of the population. Statistically you will have to lower standards in order to actually get enough people to fill the quotas, meanwhile you leave qualified individuals by the wayside.
@@agapon2023 Let me put it this way, if a job is male dominated and women make up say 4% of the applicants to that role. If the goal is to make a 50/50 male to female ratio you are forced to lower standards for the female applicants since the number of women applying to that position are far less. This is the issue with race/sex based hiring quotas, in most cases the percentage of applicants for a position do not line up with what percentage that race/sex makes up in the population. This in turn forces standards for certain groups to be lower and standards for others to be higher. If you want a real world example of this take a look at affirmative action, where the required SAT and ACT scores for Asians where a lot higher and some other races where accepted with far lower scores.

Literally. Not only did they pick the team last minute, LoL has a notoriously low female player base - unlike games like minecraft. Like if you wanted to encourage women to go to tournaments, choose a game that has more than 2 female players.
At that time I was playing on a ru/cis server and often met them in the flex queue. They played at the level of upper platinum - medium diamond (of ru server, of course, which in itself is one of the weakest). Their lcl opponents were euw challengers with years of experience in the pro scene.

@Willy Camoy If you force female teams into pro league, and they all get brutally trashed, you are not going to get many women to play. They are going to reason that they are way to hard for them and move onto other games. There are no women playing Paradox games for example.
You missed the point of the team. They tried to sell their players, they didn't manage. So as a last resort, they went full on advertisement mode. Found some girls who at least played the game, and then made revenue just by exposure. It was a success, went a lot better than the previous roster. The goal for a team is to make money.
Fun fact: In 2019 Gambit support JestkuiMax made pentakill against Vaevictis girls (he was playing Pyke). It was second support pentakill in LoL esport history
It's quite funny how things change in such a short period of time. A recent "women's" League of Legends tournament had like one woman in it, the rest all being guys.
You missed the fact that the team that beat them 52-2 got reprimanded for dragging the game out, so the next game the team fighting them made sure that didn't happen while also sending a message by having the shortest professional game ever.
To be fair that was deserved the game was well won and just kept farming kills to humiliate them and why it might of been funny its clearly would be punished for extending the game just for that reason.

1 tower taken down in 11 games is even more horrible its like your team finally touch the ball in the last match of the season but it is rolling over the fingers of your goalkeeper and still ends in the net
im gonna put a hockey example forward, but im not sure its enough of a gap : 21-0. (i was on the 0 team... the other team got moved up into the next division league and still won state)

Mayumi's team suffered a few losses (seemingly not her fault) and at a season's end, she got offered a job paying triple the money, so why not leave pro LoL, get that job, and play LoL on a casual level? That's exactly what they did.
The problem is their motivations. They didnt decide "lets hire women" and choose the best ones. They don't even care about hiring women, they cared about hiring marketable pretty faces.

If I'm remembering my figures since I last looked, about 1% of all players are top tier in LoL. How many of that 1% are women? Well since you decided to hire women, you have to accept less skilled women to fill the same role and voila, same outcome. Of course, they accepted less skilled and PRETTY women on purpose, but the same disaster would happen if you negate a large % of the pool of hires you are willing to hire "for identity."

Look at the male teams, players had acne, some were overweight. They weren't hired because of their looks. That's the BIG difference between male teams and female teams.
it's also that young women are more attractive than young males. they don't generally get ugly until after baby making age. And that is tens of thousands of years of genetic selection and socialization. Women who reproduce tend to be attractive. Most men historically didn't reproduce. Those that did were not selected for looks until *very* recently.

About the 12 minutes defeat. The team who humiliated them so fast got a warning from Riot for toying with Vaevictis and making the first game they played against Vaevictis last on purpose. The 12 minutes game on their 2nd encounter was their answer.

If this had been a conventional male team, losing even the whole first season would cause them to be sent home with a don't call us we'll call you. Literally they will ban players for a game half as bad. All they were doing was utterly demoralizing every single female team out there. Because instead of selecting girls that were already ranked in the female teams, they built a team based on who knows what. This is not real world. The genetic and physiology advantages that men have don't apply. Most esports are played by teenagers through to mid twenties. The kids that stomped them so badly in many cases had not even seen puberty yet. So even the excuse of brain chemistry being different is actually very low. The difference is they chose a team who were going to be attractive.
That team that beat them 54 to two actually got penalized for bad sportsmanship for dragging it out. Against a male team they would simply call it proving the point that these boys should have gone home.

skya this is correct this is riots failsafe to make sure teams arnt coasting for the paycheck now that it’s franchised they said no more relegation but consistent poor performance would result in removal so teams are motivated to try and games are entertaining.
They were basically all diamond players going against professional teams. In any other region the result would be the same. If you took a bunch of mid and low diamond players and put them in the LCS they would get absolutely fucking crushed. Same for LCS/LCK/LPL. The issues was that they should never have been allowed to be pro. I know at least one region has a minimum rank requirement to even be a pro player

@Damani Campbell As a girl I used to play top and jungle. None of my girl friends actually plays support, most of them play mid or ADC. When I quit the game I used to play support but it wasn't because "I feel like helping my team" that's bullshit. I used to play support because none of my teammates was flexible enough to change their roles and fill support. I did that mostly to avoid people trolling. In the end I got bored and quit the game.
The worst part about that Vaevictus 13 minute loss is that the team that did that to them was earlier fined by Riot for the 52-2 drubbing because they were spawn camping at fountain solo-queue style. I don't want to say team VEG took that fine personally, but they sure as hell made it a point to not drag the game out any longer than they needed to as per the fine.
There was also a match when other LCL etam (can't remember the name) picked the Iceborn composition from TFT against Vaevictis. It was like Ash, Sej, Braim, Lissandra nad Volibear, if I recall it correctly. Well, it wasn't a strong pick by any means, but you already know that Vaevictis lost that one as well

It may be hard, but with hard work it can be achieved.
So basically, all of that doesn't matter, especially in games since, again, it isn't a competition of strenght, it's more mental than enething else and that already excludes a good portion of the natural advantages men have, games in this regard are like guns, the great equalizer, it doesn't matter who you are, if you put in the work, you'll get there.

The thing is that league has mostly male players and only a very small amount of those become pro players. So the chance of having a female pro player is also much smaller. So if there are some really good female players out there, they won't be enough to make an all female team. The team at the end really showed a much more realistic approach, having one in the team instead of a whole team.
That's also the issue with hiring based on sex or race quotas where that sex/race make up a much smaller portion of applicants compared to their percentage of the population. Statistically you will have to lower standards in order to actually get enough people to fill the quotas, meanwhile you leave qualified individuals by the wayside.

@@agapon2023 Let me put it this way, if a job is male dominated and women make up say 4% of the applicants to that role. If the goal is to make a 50/50 male to female ratio you are forced to lower standards for the female applicants since the number of women applying to that position are far less.
This is the issue with race/sex based hiring quotas, in most cases the percentage of applicants for a position do not line up with what percentage that race/sex makes up in the population. This in turn forces standards for certain groups to be lower and standards for others to be higher.
If you want a real world example of this take a look at affirmative action, where the required SAT and ACT scores for Asians where a lot higher and some other races where accepted with far lower scores.

At that time I was playing on a ru/cis server and often met them in the flex queue. They played at the level of upper platinum - medium diamond (of ru server, of course, which in itself is one of the weakest). Their lcl opponents were euw challengers with years of experience in the pro scene.

You missed the point of the team. They tried to sell their players, they didn't manage. So as a last resort, they went full on advertisement mode. Found some girls who at least played the game, and then made revenue just by exposure. It was a success, went a lot better than the previous roster. The goal for a team is to make money.

It's quite funny how things change in such a short period of time. A recent "women's" League of Legends tournament had like one woman in it, the rest all being guys.
You missed the fact that the team that beat them 52-2 got reprimanded for dragging the game out, so the next game the team fighting them made sure that didn't happen while also sending a message by having the shortest professional game ever.
To be fair that was deserved the game was well won and just kept farming kills to humiliate them and why it might of been funny its clearly would be punished for extending the game just for that reason.

Mayumi's team suffered a few losses (seemingly not her fault) and at a season's end, she got offered a job paying triple the money, so why not leave pro LoL, get that job, and play LoL on a casual level? That's exactly what they did.
And this just shows why identity hiring is a terrible policy. Hire women who are capable of matching up to the competition. Don't just hire women.
The problem is their motivations. They didnt decide "lets hire women" and choose the best ones. They don't even care about hiring women, they cared about hiring marketable pretty faces.

If I'm remembering my figures since I last looked, about 1% of all players are top tier in LoL. How many of that 1% are women? How many of them are willing to give up their whole lives to become LCL players? What if there aren't even 5 women players at that same level who are willing to do that? Well since you decided to hire women, you have to accept less skilled women to fill the same role and voila, same outcome. Of course, they accepted less skilled and PRETTY women on purpose, but the same disaster would happen if you negate a large % of the pool of hires you are willing to hire "for identity."

The kids that stomped them so badly in many cases had not even seen puberty yet. So even the excuse of brain chemistry being different is actually very low. The difference is they chose a team who were going to be attractive.

skya this is correct this is riots failsafe to make sure teams arnt coasting for the paycheck now that it’s franchised they said no more relegation but consistent poor performance would result in removal so teams are motivated to try and games are entertaining.

They were basically all diamond players going against professional teams. In any other region the result would be the same. If you took a bunch of mid and low diamond players and put them in the LCS they would get absolutely fucking crushed. Same for LCS/LCK/LPL. The issues was that they should never have been allowed to be pro. I know at least one region has a minimum rank requirement to even be a pro player

When I quit the game I used to play support but it wasn't because "I feel like helping my team" that's bullshit. I used to play support because none of my teammates was flexible enough to change their roles and fill support. I did that mostly to avoid people trolling. In the end I got bored and quit the game.

The worst part about that Vaevictus 13 minute loss is that the team that did that to them was earlier fined by Riot for the 52-2 drubbing because they were spawn camping at fountain solo-queue style.
