    We were so spoiled in the '70s! The embarrassment of riches. We had all these great male R&B vocal groups. Now, why they continue to ignore the Temptations is a mystery to me. BTW, the Spinners are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year.

      Maybe they're blocked from Temptation videos? Some artists/labels are more strict about their copy rights than others. I know of other reactors that got their RUclips channel shut down because of ONE artist's label that didn't want the reactor playing this artist's music on their channel and they always have pauses the songs they reacted to. We don't want Jay & Amber to be shut down over one artist.

    • @alanmusicman3385
      @alanmusicman3385 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@alamc200 They don;t have to use videos - in fact its better when they don't cos half the time they end up reacting to the video and not the music! 🙂
      The pausing thing is an utterly pointless pre-condition and so 2000s - anyone savvy enough to rip the song from the audio stream of a review is going to know how to cut out the pause. The rule was obviously put in place by someone with zero understanding of tech.

      Dionne's manager is a friend of the family and I met her when I was 7 years old and also met Whitney Houston at the same time when she was also 7. Just two kids at a BBQ and then Whitney became legendary in her own right. Dionne in her 70's is still beautiful and still has a great voice. The last time I visited her manager he had told me Dionne was in Vegas but, didn't say why and I thought it was odd because he always traveled with her on tour. Then a few months later it turns out she was on the Masked Singer. I recognized her voice immediately.

      @@michaelmartin1714 Right. I know it is a female because when this song came out I wondered who was singing because the Spinners did not have any female members. You have to know that I was a child of 13 years and I did not know that people outside of a group could sing with the group. Plus they fooled me by having one of the male members lip sync the female part on Soul Train. That really threw me for a loop. It was not until years later that I found out that a woman had sung that part.

Everyone seems to think Phillipe Wynne (nee Phillip Walker) is the main singer on the Spinners songs, but it's mostly Bobby Smith on almost all their hits. Oh man this one takes me back! Mid 70's easy livin' right there! I'd recommend three of the Spinners best - Could It Be I'm Falling In Love, Then Came You and One Of A Kind (Love Affair).

    Great Philly Soul from the Spinners. Thom Bell was the producer, who also produced the OJays, Stylistics, and probably a bunch of others. The Spinners started out with Motown but left for Philly. The Philly sound took the Motown sound and smoothed it out with lusher string and horn arrangements.

    Thanks for doing this one. I've always loved this song. This is a reminder why. I always say to my wife "have I ever mentioned I totally dig horns in a band?" Only a million times, she'd say..😂

    "It was assumed that this line was delivered by one of the backing singers the Spinners used - Carla Benson, Evette Benton, or Barbara Ingram - but According to Thom Bell, it's actually group member Henry Fambrough - Bell sped up the tape to change the pitch of Henry's voice. " The Spinners were on of the best bands of the 70s. Next you should hit The Spinners and Dionne Warwick "Then Came You".

    I think this is has always been my favorite Spinners song... and that's saying something, as they're my favorite 70s R&B/Soul group. I used to watch Soul Train every Saturday (Sunday?) when I was a little kid, and I think I can remember them doing this on the show and loving it immediately. It has some kind of almost Eurococktail vibe going on. It's pure genius.

    I grew up loving The Spinners songs as a kid listening to radio. But for some reason I didn’t know the name of the group until recently and certainly didn’t grasp that all these great songs were from one group. Now I’ve come to realize they were probably one of my favorite groups from that era.
