Love it when the interviewer goes "do you just like zone out on stage or is it rehearsed?" And Omar goes "Sorry...for what?...." Making a joke that he's zoning out, and the interviewer doesn't get what he just did, only Cedric smiles. Love that, and their relationship with each other, they have more humor than people think. So glad to have them back, can't wait for their new album next month! 👌🏽💯💙🙏
...I don't think it's the interviewers fault that this was awkward. Looks like he tried really hard to keep the pace up and stuff but their answers were very yes/no
well that's what most of this couch mtv like interviews always are, I have seen other interviews where their okay to answer and say some good stuff, but they themselves know this interview platform is horse shit.
Makes sense if you think about it. These two have been around each other for a long time. When you spend a lot of time with someone or people, you tend to synch up with each other. Physical and mental behaviors are mimicked. Especially when you're in a musical group, this is why the foot tapping seems reasonable. They're constantly in rhythm with one another.
By using "obsessive compulsive" he meant that he would be hooked on it (the board) and wanting to use it at any chance he got. The same applies for Omar with his music. Omar has stated that he needs to stay busy with his music or he will get bored and start obsessing over drugs again...it's that whole idle hands thing. Cedric has expressed how using the board was like a drug to him and he was addicted; that's why Omar disposed of it without disclosing it's location to Cedric.
They don't call their fans sheep, they bitch out the people in the audience that either throw shit on the stage or start slam dancing/crowd surfing. In the process they hurt others who want no part of it. All Cedric does is ask the crowd to dance while respecting the personal space of those around them. Seems logical and pretty simple.
The manner in which it is most commonly referenced by people is of the undiagnosed/less severe type. An example would be somebody who has the items on his desk rearranged after it has been cleaned. That person cannot continue with their day until every item is moved back to its original place. Another would be somebody who starts to clean a room, but ends up cleaning the entire house because they can't stop unless everything is clean. This is what people most often think of in terms of OCD.
@Eljonno No kidding. I almost feel bad hosting such a terrible interview but they still try and have some fun with it so I can live with it. Not many people get away with saying fuck on live tv lol
Their new album sounds like if you took Tremulant and De-Loused and squashed them together. This time around they've added a new funk sound to their music and no song exceeds 10 minutes in length. In my opinion it's right up there with De-Loused in terms of quality.
i got to post right here what another guy wrote about mars volta getting/beeing mainstream. and i totally agree !: 'Hahaha Yeah the day mars volta are mainstream I'll give up my right arm. They aren't stooping to mainstream levels. If they get noticed its because mainstream is raising itself to their level.'
while i agree with that completely, i have to respect tmv's choice to evolve and create a different sound.like you said tho the "space rock" is what attracted me to them in the first place.
yeah i dig that jive. its very strange, these to have the same roles, like this cedric dude is this excetric front man, and then there a misterious "brain child" guitarist, im just trying to figure out if this connection was premeditated.
looks like cedric was more intrested playing with his shoe during the interview then that guy. and I also think that Omar will never age cuz i think his hair length is the only change i've noticed, lol
lol when i saw they were going to be on fuse i was like, i hope they do something edgy so they'll still be considered bad asses, i was thinking lighting up a joint or something, but "FUCK IT" was great. i cheered at the T.V when it happened.

i never thought cedric was a high school drop out, his vocabulary and lyrics are amazingly poetic.
Pick up a book. You’ll learn some dope shit.
@@Hymn43 his dad an professor at university of El Paso. Now director
That album is evil ;)
I still cant listen to it without getting anxious/mad. Its fire and ice. Crazy good record
"like a donkey choking a waffle"
Such an iconic group of young men!! The break-up of 'At the drive-in ' was thaa BEST thing to happen to them!! Real talk! 💯💯💯

They were pretty generic questions, don't think he really understood them or their humour
omar looks sooo cute when he says ouroburos
cedric: im a high school drop out
Steven: nice!
dont think he was proud of that statement... good one steve-o
🤣🤣🤣🤣
A Donkey Choking A Waffle!!! this guys are just artistic and hilarious!
I don't know if it's creepy or corny how they're sitting the same way, right leg under left thigh, twirling and tapping their left foot.
Makes sense if you think about it.

there band members change so much and theirs so many diffrent people.
The Mars Volta is the only thing which still exists when the fuckin world blows up!!!
"we just said, fuck it.. sorry. (strange face)"
HAHAHAHAHA 4:50
"Fuck it. WHOOPS!"
That made me chuckle! Omar is so friggin' adorable.
"Our last two albums leaked more than a month prior to the release date, so this isn't so bad."
lmao! "fuck it... oh sorry" Omar is fucking funny, he tried so hard!

that def was the best part of the whole vid and basically sums up the whole interview.
One of my favorite bands.
Period.
i love tmv but in general all band iterviews never include the drummers/bass and theyre like the back bone of the music... :(
lol this interview was hilarious.
thanks!!!!! now i understand! what they talk about
god i love omar fuckin hilarious
loved his expression after saying it
i hope tmv comes to the philippines....sigh a girl can only dream
haha theyre sitting the sameeeeee!
hahahhaha "like a donkey choking a waffle"
This is cool, i would kill to see Omar and John Fru jam together
omar's little joke at 5:31 goes right over the interviewer's head. funny.
what was the joke?
@@auto1nfanticid3 he pretended to zone out

their faces are like... fuck... it finally leaked...
I saw them last night...I can't find my head~~

lol "fuck it"

yeah is tattoos!!! now i understand what they say ..thanks!!!
@Eljonno what would you expect from a guy with a GooGoo Dolls hairdo?
Hahah I noticed that, too!
I like their rabid, punk rock Afros when they where in 'At the drive in'
AWEBO!!!!!
hairlemair thanks for answer
@Eljonno

'Sell-out' is maybe not the right word, but it's the first one that comes to mind...
Chuck Palahniuk kinda-quote! You like? You love it good!
yeahh
merci
"nice"
true that
blade runner and silent running, both awesome films
240p we meet again
"Uh this just in Omar, Cedric. Your album leaked apparently. How do you feel?"
i was emphasizing more toward stevens reaction, "nice!" (subtext:maybe everyone should do that and start a badass band!)
while i agree with that completely, i have to respect tmv's choice to evolve and create a different sound.like you said tho the "space rock" is what attracted me to them in the first place.
why isn't the rest of the band there??? i actually consider the bass drums and keyboard the most consistent live, specially the bassist, he's solid!
Because of the Afros
the mars volta (omar, cedric, jeremy ward) is separate from the mars volta group (everyone else)
cool, I have the same shoes as cedric.
When was the video for ileyna filmed? Cedric either has hair extensions or it was a long time ago! His hair is much much longer today! ;-)
@Ulmeyda08 We are the butterflies that flap for a day and believe it's eternity.
they shoulda done the interview w/o an audience cuz the 2 guys didnt seem to wanna open up at all
doess any one see the same comparin i see between these two and plant and page? i swear there cast from the same mold, even if there music is diffrent
what is the last Question?? ...i dont understand what he ask ..
hey.. it wasn't that bad... it made me lol a lot. two omar-isms in one interview... sweet. thx for uploading!
bad fucking vibes.....
yeah i dig that jive. its very strange, these to have the same roles, like this cedric dude is this excetric front man, and then there a misterious "brain child" guitarist, im just trying to figure out if this connection was premeditated.
I get the feeling that the interviewer doesn't really "get" mars volta.
they are so hot =) lol love their work
I don't understand why people with personalities like this are given platforms. Love TMV
They have their moments
Freestyle Jazz and Latin Fusion. What the fuck. I would've loved to see Cedric and Omar's thoughts.
hard latin prog
damn that's why you don't play with those things!!!
FUCKING LOL>>>>
Hahah...aberin actually got you pretty good there.
haha indeed
looks like cedric was more intrested playing with his shoe during the interview then that guy.
and I also think that Omar will never age cuz i think his hair length is the only change i've noticed, lol
@TheTugucci 1st tattoo i thought he said?
lol @ 3 and a half hours
steves awesome, dont diss him.
They did it again last year smart guy. Guess you missed that one.
Cool Story, Katie Holmes!
lol when i saw they were going to be on fuse i was like, i hope they do something edgy so they'll still be considered bad asses, i was thinking lighting up a joint or something, but "FUCK IT" was great. i cheered at the T.V when it happened.
however...if they did come out with volta-o's...i would buy them....if like the taste somewhat resembles the music they make.
fuck i knew it why tmv???? WHY????????? NO THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!! BUT I STILL FUCKIN LOVE THAT BAND
I know a Nick D..I wonder if that was his question?
i want to marrry omar!!!!!!!yugrtgl;sd
he is mighty fine
