@@felipepipi1780 Bullshit. I've seen them live 3 times. Also seen Opeth, Tool, Mastodon, and more jazz-fusion artists that I can name. They're a hurricane live and brilliant.
that was amazing...i love how they really dont care much about the listener. it means they're driven by the music, not what the fans want. and most of the fans can attest to that.
Interviewer: so how much acid do I have to eat to transcend and be a musical genious god. Cedric: it depends are u trying to write bedlam or ochdehydron
@076walrus what's important is that the song moves you, inspires you, draws you to be on stage with them. Personally, i've been to a lot of concerts, i've seen a lot of bands, few of them pour as much of themselves in to their music as these guys, that's clearly evident onstage. It makes each song they play that much more meaningful to them, and me.
Omar is literally pissing on every robot in that room and anyone watching. He’s recognizing humans as LITERAL movie makers and is making it blatant by filming the interview. Every conversation is recorded and it’s the humans (or in most cases human robots) recording data in this computer simulation. They are also making fun of people who bring cameras and video recorders to concerts and how obscure and even mundane it looks, like a guy recording a video while being filmed.
fair enough, you might be right, but you might be wrong becuase you don't know them personally. They seem like happy people, and that's all that matters to them.
@MindstormRecs Dude what are you talking about, they are about as humble as it comes. Super down to earth. The, "I'm filming, excuse me" thing was a complete joke.
I *swear* I have seen this "I've filming, excuse me" joke somewhere before? Tim and Eric perhaps?? I just can't remember... Zach Galifianakis maybe doing 'between two ferns'??
4:02 fuck yeah thats what i always do, if i film the show im watching it lose concentration on the show and worry more about the filimg part so id rather just enjoy the show
@OneOfTheFire I bet their going to mash up the whole thing later in editing so everyone in the interview can be seen...except Big O....all we see is the top of his fro. Which alright with me...he has such an adorable smile in the beginning :)
Why does everyone say these guys are pretentious? Is it just what non prog rock fans say cos they hate their music? I think they seem really nice...well Cedric does, Omar is a little strange, what with his funny camera antics and all but still. XD
So they think the widow is more palatable then one of their more epic sonic explorations. Yep still a dope song and I’d like to hear it live also and actually have Cedric be able to keep up lyrically on a track for once.
It would have been sweet if David had busted out a really specific question about Frances or something...knock them out with specifics right at the end. Oh well.
@076walrus exactly...IMO their truest fans most likely never heard them on the radio before because real music isn't played on the radio anymore, it's all commerical bullshit...the first time i ever heard them was in live concert and i was hooked since...i didn't even know who TMV was until that show but i walked out the doors of that venue with a new favorite band forevarrrr :D
I gotta say, I love every song in their catalog, but sometimes I get the vibe that they don't really like their fans. Granted, in this interview, they mention being grateful, but I always get the feeling that they kinda just group all of their fans together and label them as pseudo/wannabe rockers and "number one" fans. Because of this, they come across as putting themselves above the fans. I think that's partly why people think they are pretentious, and I'll admit to thinking that sometimes.
Ced was ready GTF off that couch...don't blame him...same questions over and over...errr, where'd the name The Mars Volta come from? errr, So geez guys what happened with the whole quija board thing and Bedlam? What do your songs mean? If they truly knew who they were, what they were about and actually cared....no interviewer would ever ask them that canned shit...
For the record I would like to say that "The Widow" is NOT my favorite song and if it were up to me it would never get played live. Why? Because at both of The Mars Volta concerts I've seen that song was the only one that got huge reactions from the crowd. Sad. Just a testament to everything Cedric has said about radio killing creative music.....did they fail to absorb the dare I say RELIGIOUS experience because they paid $45 to make crappy cell phone videos and hear the one song they know?
Omar is as disrespectful as they come and Cedric just tries to emulate that because Omar's the alpha. I wish these guys would be a little more humble about their music. Yes they're talented but being a dick and having your fans accept it because they have nothing else to work with isn't cool. I'm a big fan of their music but I imagine meeting them would be the most disrespectful and condescending experience one can have.
these interviews on you tube are just ass kissing these guys These guys are really assholes. Are they saying they are American? Are they Mexico,Europe,Old fashion...??The only form of therapy for Omar is to exercises is bullshit.Whatch his hands doing the talking?I'm just part of the sewing circle...
they are the best band alive, and will still be the best after they pass
I think they make good albums...not necessarily a great band though. Actually they suck live.
Felipe Pipi you’re fucking stupid

My favorite band. I'm glad they exist!
flight of the concords! these guys definately have the most well-rounded taste ever
Interviewer: so how much acid do I have to eat to transcend and be a musical genious god. Cedric: it depends are u trying to write bedlam or ochdehydron
They're so polite, I love it.
cedric: "shit's tedious, holmes"
omar: "I won't even acknowledge ju ése"
"im filming, excuse me!" lol Omar is awesome.
love how omar just sits there.

@Seagerash He has been filming their "adventures" since they were in At the Drive-in. You know he's just being Omar
Yes yes. Cannot wait (but obviously going to) for a frickin Mars Volta DVD (or Blu-ray?)
'David Farrier chats with Cedric while Omar films it' : proper title!
These guys are so cool
"A DJ is a jukebox that takes requests even if you don't want to play the song they're asking you to."
So true.

cedric has always been ahead of the curve
That last thing Cedric said about women is hilarious
lol omar filming his own interview, haha legend.
fair enough, you might be right, but you might be wrong becuase you don't know them personally. They seem like happy people, and that's all that matters to them.
at 3:00 omar smiles because the camara man smiled at him lmao
If these guys are pretentious then good on them. There needs to be more selfish art in the world.
John Smith It definitely has its place.
@MindstormRecs Dude what are you talking about, they are about as humble as it comes. Super down to earth. The, "I'm filming, excuse me" thing was a complete joke.
notice, this is the few interviews where cedric gets to talk. omar is busy xD
I *swear* I have seen this "I've filming, excuse me" joke somewhere before? Tim and Eric perhaps?? I just can't remember... Zach Galifianakis maybe doing 'between two ferns'??
cedric parece simpatico..en las entrevistas
he's in love with his hair
4:02

I feel cedric was a little biased towards woman at the end there, I highly doubt it would be a majority
Damn, it's hard looking back on good bands and seeing the warning signs and them fall apart.
hamish takin tha heat
@latinstuff1 Cedric looks like the villain in the CB movie. I've always thought that!
what are you talking about??
they didnt say flight of the conchords...
Didn't Cedric DJ at Parallel Universes?
i'm on ur side jocam.
@trubblemuffin or best hair???
yea, its the very first thing cedric says, hence the whole spin off of the different cultures and the british office
omars laugh...i think he's high.
So they think the widow is more palatable then one of their more epic sonic explorations. Yep still a dope song and I’d like to hear it live also and actually have Cedric be able to keep up lyrically on a track for once.
conchords mate not concorders, sounds like a type of flying passenger camera lol.
It would have been sweet if David had busted out a really specific question about Frances or something...knock them out with specifics right at the end. Oh well.
why do these guys remind me of the cowboy bebop anime lol
Lmao
Omar looks like my fiancé!😍
Exscuse me... i'm filming xD
Fred Armisen could totally play Omar...
he probably hasn't ha ha, but I think he's more into his camera.
@loudfastrulez
Hell Yes!
not sure if that I'm filming comment was a joke or not.
aligboyakasha He is.
I play records (sometimes) and I will only take requests if it's something that I have and I like. If it's not, then fuck your request!
@076walrus exactly...IMO their truest fans most likely never heard them on the radio before because real music isn't played on the radio anymore, it's all commerical bullshit...the first time i ever heard them was in live concert and i was hooked since...i didn't even know who TMV was until that show but i walked out the doors of that venue with a new favorite band forevarrrr :D
i think a lot of their real fans came from at the drive-in
Yes, he's a smart guy. Should be smart enough to know that this is quite impolite.
@owlertheprowler imo he's fucking trolling
@keaton223 How about rudest hair in rock?
I can't tell if Cedric's hair is dreadful or Godly... haha
is it just me or dose omar want to be back in Australia xD
omar looks annoyed haha
@MrsBixlerZavala wow you have even takin his last name. Check yourself in.
i love omar, but i think he couldve paid a bit more respect and attention to the interviewer here.
I gotta say, I love every song in their catalog, but sometimes I get the vibe that they don't really like their fans. 3:20 haha
lol he just owned the widow, im happy he did that.. its a good song and all but it lures all the non true volta fans
It's Cedric; So i say Godly. Even though it is really bad xD
Ced was ready GTF off that couch...don't blame him...same questions over and over...errr, where'd the name The Mars Volta come from? errr, So geez guys what happened with the whole quija board thing and Bedlam? i like the american office - i found the british one less interesting - deal with it :P
imagine we Brits started remaking Friends and Cheers ect...you would all bitch about it too!!...why can't you understand irony or dry comedy??
@BlueAvenue22 so just because you do not agree with someone about a fucking tv show, that makes them pretentious?
yeah was just taking the piss haha, we all knew what u meant.

no one else could rock that stupid ass looking hairstyle besides cedric. 🤘🏽

Lead singer gets my vote for The most horrible hair in rock.
