Tom saying "There's nothing more life altering than some form of a knock on the door" makes me feel a little less lonely. Great wisdom and lovely advice. Awestruck by Tom coming onto the show and congrats to the team!
This has paved the way to even more guests of this level of fame this interview was conducted so professionally but still had all the mythical kitchen fun
Hard to top Tom Hanks, but I totally agree, this was a very professional, and well done interview, other than maybe when Josh almost impaled Tom with the cue cards.
This actually just changed my life I am not even kidding. Idk what just clicked in my head but Tom says "we'll all find out eventually. I don't waste a second worrying about it" and I just lost so much anxiety. Like it just melted. What a guy ❤️😂
There's a Mark Twain quote "worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe". That had a similar effect on me as what you're describing. Then to find that Twain also said "I have spent most of my life worrying about things that never happen". Certain simple phrases can really hit hard.
Matthew 6:34: "Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Tom certainly tapped into the wisdom of the ages.
This did something to me. It made me genuinely feel warm. Watching Josh vibe out with TOM FREAKING HANKS about life was not on the bingo card for today, but I'm glad I got to mark it. Tom's simple explanation of God: Grace, Order, Direction... That was the highlight for me in a highlight-filled episode. This is my new favorite episode of the series.
yeah I know I love Tom Hanks he is awesome for being Woody and being in a true story movie about the Soviet Union in the 1960's so glad that he said yes to being on the show
Totally agree. I've heard many actors casually talk about the least favorite movies they've starred in and my first thought is, damn, bet a lot of people worked really hard on that thing you're bashing lol
Tom Hanks is usually a very nice guy. I remember when the paparazzi pissed him off, they all were saying sorry to him afterwards. That's how nice he is usually.
I am in awe of this interview. never in a million years did I expect to wake up to this but it was everything I could've hoped for and more! congratulations Josh and the MK crew; you did it. I don't think you could ever get a guest better than Tom Hanks. what a legend, a gentleman, and a scholar. @@adamdubin1276 You’ve got to be joking. Everybody likes Tom Hanks’ movie roles, but in his personal life he is not a good man. He isn’t even a good parent, as he displayed in this very video. It wasn’t just his story about how he had a big problem with always yelling at his kids… The other story that reminded me of my shitty parents that always yelled at me too was Tom explaining how he lied to his kids to get them to eat something they didn’t want to eat - seafood (calamari/octopus in his case, which happens to be a very intelligent animal that feels pain). There’s nothing wrong whatsoever with kids who don’t want to eat animals! My mother lied to me when I was a kid in the _EXACT_ same way that Tom lied to his kids. She told me that the halibut steak she was cooking for dinner in the broiler, which smelled sooooo awful to me, was actually chicken. And she swore by it to me when I questioned her (because the smell reminded me of fish sticks that I tried one time as a kid before that, and I hated it)! I took one bite of the halibut steak that she swore to god was chicken, was disgusted and spit it out, and I never ate one single other bite of seafood as long as I’ve lived in my 48 years of life. Lying to your kids is traumatizing, and they will never forget it!
@@ndro_gyny I don't disagree with your point, I was only saying that the show hasn't reached mainstream success to the degree that Hot Ones did after the algorithm really picked it up and made it shine and that this guest gives it more potential to do so, especially if the follow up guests continue to have high engagement! 🙂
This let me see a side of Tom Hanks I don't think I'd EVER see on a TV talk show. This was outstanding and an amazing interview/death. I hope they can get more guests like this!!!

I just realized how iconic Tom Hanks is. I started to think about him in movies and which I liked the most and I just relived 30 years of my life spent watching Tom Hanks movies. T.Hanks.
Man, I get emotional whenever I see Tom Hanks. He's basically a part of our childhood. We all grew up with him. Whenever I see him, I get reminded of when I was just an innocent kid, not worrying about anything, watching some Toy Story or Forrest Gump in the living room while eating some cereal or chips.

You're young...I grew up watching the VHS home recording of "Big" and "Money Pit" over and over! Tom Hanks has come a long way and just...well...he's awesome!
There are so many amazing moments in this interview, and the entire thing itself is captivating me! I have to say my favorite moment is at 25:36 -- after Josh's interview cards went everywhere, Tom picked them up and turned them over without reading the text or even glancing at it, then handed them back. Something about that, about not wanting to spoil the interview, about leaving it totally in Josh's hands to continue, felt very personable and kind to me.
This man will never truly understand how much Greeks love him. My sister sent this to my mom and I just got off the phone with her talking about, for the millionth time, how she loves this man! It’s just nice to see someone I grew up watching also love my culture ❤️🇬🇷🇨🇾
I loved how comfortable Tom was here. Not at first, but when he was, it was like he was talking to an old friend. You could tell he was having a great time. This was truly wonderful. Great job Josh.
Somebody give Josh a pat on the back. He sat still with Tom Hanks for 37 non-chaotic minutes and his mind didn't wander once. And he made Mr. Hanks guffaw a few times. Pretty cool.
I know you guys have been doing the Last Meals segment for years but I really think you're onto something with the format of this episode. You have reached the pinnacle. Tom Hanks is the ultimate guest. People might vary on which celebrities are their favorites but Tom is definitely going to be in nearly everyone's top 10 just because he's starred in so many amazing movies. His 80s and 90s movies were my childhood favorites. I think "Joe versus the volcano" was the first movie my whole family could agree on. Turner & Hooch was close but my mom got grossed out by all the dog slobber ;)
I had the same thought watching him take his glasses on and off and wave them around for accentuation, and when he used the spoon to mime out writing the contact with his son.
Congratulations to the Mythical crew for this episode. I love that you not only got an amazing guest, but it feels like Josh and Tom Hanks had a genuinely nice conversation

In my culture the son in law thing is the same. A family member said to me, “It because they chose our babies.” Idk how true that is but it’s so cute.
He loves Greek culture cause p3dophilia is legal there
ok

Tom saying "There's nothing more life altering than some form of a knock on the door" makes me feel a little less lonely. Great wisdom and lovely advice. Awestruck by Tom coming onto the show and congrats to the team!
This has paved the way to even more guests of this level of fame this interview was conducted so professionally but still had all the mythical kitchen fun
Hard to top Tom Hanks, but I totally agree, this was a very professional, and well done interview, other than maybe when Josh almost impaled Tom with the cue cards.
I loved this interview; there was so much talent and wisdom. No wonder Mr. Hanks is and will be one of the greatest artists still here with us.
This actually just changed my life I am not even kidding. Idk what just clicked in my head but Tom says "we'll all find out eventually. I don't waste a second worrying about it" and I just lost so much anxiety. Like it just melted. What a guy ❤️😂
Wow, I wish I had that same epiphany !!!
I want Tom Hanks to speak at my funeral.
What an amazing sentiment
There's a Mark Twain quote "worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe". That had a similar effect on me as what you're describing. Then to find that Twain also said "I have spent most of my life worrying about things that never happen". Certain simple phrases can really hit hard.
Matthew 6:34: "Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Tom certainly tapped into the wisdom of the ages.
The fact that Tom Hanks is literally on the screen sitting next to Josh is AMAZING. He’s so genuine and cool! Really awesome video!!!
I love the concept of this show, give people their favorite food and it just makes them happy. Food brings us together!
I’m convinced Tom Hanks is the best person anyone can ever interview. He’s so natural, genuine, and talkative. Makes it so easy
I completely agree and hope that list was fake for it.
That's how they get you. He is that type like Jared, representing subway.
@@owenmeier Of course it was fake.
@@benlopez9595you’ve got a real point there.
@@PapagenoMF you'd be surprised just how much of hollywood is pure trash disguised in gold
This was one of the best interviews I've ever watched. Actual conversation in semi-long-form, not just a press junket. This is what people want.
I love knowing that celebrities are human and not just husks that have been worn through by the show business
@@jurdie111 some are
yeah I know I love Tom Hanks he is awesome for being Woody and being in a true story movie about the Soviet Union in the 1960's so glad that he said yes to being on the show
Tom declining to name his "worst role" in order to refuse disparaging anyone's hard work is truly admirable.
Especially considering the layup that was that D&D anti-propaganda movie everyone makes fun of in the 80's was right there for him....
Love Boat
Totally agree. I've heard many actors casually talk about the least favorite movies they've starred in and my first thought is, damn, bet a lot of people worked really hard on that thing you're bashing lol
Tom Hanks is usually a very nice guy. I remember when the paparazzi pissed him off, they all were saying sorry to him afterwards. That's how nice he is usually.
sooo The Bonfire of the Vanities
I love Tom Hanks so much! What a beautiful human being, empathetic, lovely, humble....Such a great interview!
Tom Hanks is evil
I am in awe of this interview. never in a million years did I expect to wake up to this but it was everything I could've hoped for and more! congratulations Josh and the MK crew; you did it. I don't think you could ever get a guest better than Tom Hanks. what a legend, a gentleman, and a scholar. Tom Hanks is an international treasure and we don't deserve him, but I'm so glad we have him ❤
Josh needs to be on Hot Ones and Sean Evans needs to be on Last Meals.
WAIT i know everyone always says this but this one seems likely
💯
Or food fears lol
And Tom needs to be on Last of Us
Agreed I’ve been waiting on that one
as a Rhett and Link fan, this is the first Mythical Kitchen video i watched. engaging and amazing watch throughout, hope this guy knows how good he is at chatting and asking great questions, and how great the Mythical Kitchen’s style and taste is
The Last Meals series is great! The first ep guest is Rhett i think. You might want to check that out too 😊
You should watch more, Josh is hilarious
You have found such a great little corner of the internet. Welcome 🥰
the amount of people who have in-n-out on their last meal is INSANE! Makes me feel so lucky to have grown up in cali and I miss in-n-out SO MUCH!!!
“No one’s a stranger once you know their story” I love that
was the "a" a typo
“Everybody has two things in common, we all gotta eat and we’re all gonna die” is the greatest tagline ever for a show like this
But there is a third thing, everyone likes Tom Hanks.
Some people prefer sugar substitutes to sugar and some people enjoy healthy foods
Some people are party poopers and some people are like @johannastromberg1224, which is awfully close to being a party pooper
Yea but it’s also blunt 😂
@@adamdubin1276
You’ve got to be joking.
I did not expect this this morning! Awesome!
This could be the kind of guest that pushes this show into early "Hot Ones" territory virality.
they just need gordon ramsey to come on and the deal is sealed. gordon kicked hot ones up a notch and its extra fitting for last meals.
I hope so too 🙏 this is such a great concept
This format in my opinion is much better than hot ones.
Early? Honestly doesn't get way bigger than Tom Hanks.
It's about 1822km or 1132 miles between Winnipeg and Montreal.

T.Hanks.
I see what you did there
Man, I get emotional whenever I see Tom Hanks. He's basically a part of our childhood. We all grew up with him. Whenever I see him, I get reminded of when I was just an innocent kid, not worrying about anything, watching some Toy Story or Forrest Gump in the living room while eating some cereal or chips.

What the heck, you got Tom Hanks on the show! mad props!
I love these conversations! Thank you for being as real as possible!!
This man will never truly understand how much Greeks love him. My sister sent this to my mom and I just got off the phone with her talking about, for the millionth time, how she loves this man! It’s just nice to see someone I grew up watching also love my culture ❤️🇬🇷🇨🇾
Rita Wilson is a second generation Greek. Also, what kind of a savage doesn't love Greek food?
so true!
I think everyone loves him. And if not, I don't want to know the people that don't like him.
🇬🇷🇬🇷
I agree!
A Man Called Otto is one of Tom Hanks' better films. Very touching and heartbreaking.
I know you guys have been doing the Last Meals segment for years but I really think you're onto something with the format of this episode. I really enjoyed sitting down with Tom and getting intimate with the typical mythical josh twist and humour, I really dig the interview vibe and Josh has the charisma, this could be your Hot Ones for real
the last meals series only started last year
@@waterloo-sunset it feels like longer than that, i've been watching mythical kitchen forever so sorry if I didn't run the dates through a spreadsheet before commenting 💜 also, last year is different to this year, hence more than one year, which is plural, ergo years is grammatically correct. I think this show has the potential to make it to hot ones fame. It's a great and interesting concept & Josh is great at keeping it so casual. It asks celebrities questions that are not asked in normal interviews. It keeps it really interesting and I hope more celebrities will be interested because it's so different. Keep up the amazing work, Josh & the Mythical crew.
I got to meet hit son way back in middle school for being in an honor society. His son came to give a speech and meeting him was one of the best experiences of my life. Tom Hanks has always been top 5 favorite male actors. Big was amazing.

I secretly want to see what didn't "make the cut" or a bloopers reel.
Not only funny, but thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable.
I feel like there wasn't enough time for a bloopers reel with how rapid-fire Josh's questions were.
@@vigilantcosmicpenguin8721 Had to reach hard to find a single criticism, huh? What weird, little nitpick.
Wow just amazing guest after amazing guest. Tom is truly a treasure.
I just realized after watching him eat... That guy is built for cinema, even the way he chews is cinematic.
I had the same thought watching him take his glasses on and off and wave them around for accentuation, and when he used the spoon to mime out writing the contact with his son.
I think he chews that way because his teeth are not his own, anyway love the guy, great human. Warm guy
Congratulations to the Mythical crew for this episode. I love that you not only got an amazing guest, but it feels like Josh and Tom Hanks had a genuinely nice conversation
Josh said yesterday on Twitter today's video is gonna be huge, didn't expect this huge, Tom is such a worldwide respected actor, Josh y'all outdone yourselves
Can we not wait til this guy is dead to acknowledge how much joy and happiness he has brought to all of our lives along the years. Thanks Tom Hanks for all the laughs, tears and all the range of emotions you have made us feel! You sir are a national treasure! I want to thanks him from the bottom of my heart! I don’t have any social media so I can’t post it straight to his account so if someone can copy and paste to his Facebook or whatever other social media he uses I would be very grateful! Why do I always feel so good after seeing Tom Hanks? Too good to be true.
I love when they're cutting into the cake and Tom says he's gonna drop a name and it's a big name and it's like: Sir you are literally Tom Hanks. There are fewer names bigger than yours.
It was a pretty good name drop though
He has a point on the Mediterranean diet. My grandfather is Maltese and 84, still extremely lively. His father was 102 when he passed.
@quack9000 isn't about the dishes, it's about what ingredients you do and don't use. as someone from the Mediterranean I personally hate grape leaves. the beauty in the "diet" is it's simplicity and adaptability.
I think the Mediterranean climate and lifestyle also has a factor in regards to their health, not just the food.
It's more about genetics.
Olive oil in diets can work wonders
It has nothing to do with foods, just that they live in smaller villages, less stressful, better weather aswell.
I’m so happy that this is becoming a respected interview series in the entertainment industry! I really wanna see a bunch of creative celebrities take part in this. It’s really interesting.
