This series could reach the levels of Hot One's if nurtured well and taken seriously. Not sure if I'm making sense.
Ones* No apostrophe.
Dude, I thought the same! This is such a good idea!
Yeah!!! I was thinking the same thing! 💯
@@englishatheart ok christine
Agree!!!
Rhett with Link: silliness and bickering
Josh in a kitchen: total chaos
Rhett and Josh in front of a table of food: Sean Evans-level interview.
Agreed
Right?!?
Exactly what I was thinking!
one half was trying extra hard
Please continue this concept, but have Josh eating the food as well and commenting on the taste
This would elevate this into a crazy good series
I don't understand why Josh isn't eating with Rhett through this.
Probably because he made it for the most part so he knows it’s good, at least to him it would be.
It’s always going to be weird having only one person eating. Strange oversight but I’m glad it was fixed!
To be fair they are used to watching Rhett eat so
Watching this in the future and I cant believe they used to make the guest eat alone while Josh just sits there with his mouth watering and awkwardly watching them eat. They've really stepped up their game with this series 2 years later, no wonder its turned into what it has.
same lol thats why I was browsing comments
Whoever thought giving Josh his own channel was a good idea, is an unparalleled genius.
Pretty good comment (looks like an insult but is a compliment in disguise)
Exactly!
Lots a failures along the way!
@@websitesthatneedanemthat's the point of being a chef. To learn from those failures and mistakes.
The mythical beasts did actually. He was given a couple of episodes as a test bed and in order to get the channel permanently it had to achieve a certain number of subscribers. The community basically told Mythical "we want Josh" so there it is.
This is great. The only tiny thing I'd change is having Josh eat the food with the interviewee. It feels a bit strange that they're both not enjoying the food while talking about it.
Otherwise it's an amazing show and can't wait to watch more of it.
Came here to say this. I really enjoyed this and look forward to future vids in the series, but I would have much preferred to see Rhett and Josh eating together.
Or at least taste it.
@@themoviedealers I am sure he tasted it before serving it!
This way focuses more on who he is interviewing and their experience of enjoying _their_ last meal, I guess. I wouldn't mind if Josh shared that experience, though.
Unless his last meal shares too much in common with the other person's. In that case, Josh would also have to die after eating it. That's just what the rules dictate.
@@qwertyferix True... not like the hangman will sit there and enjoy a meal with you....
Im usually dont comment on anything , but i feel like rhett has reached this level of self confidence and some level of "zen". hes just comes of so calm and well spoken ... realy pleasent to watch!
@@katyungodly I’m so so
imo, he comes across as someone who tries to please the majority’s judgement and is very insecure on the inside, and tries to come across very confident. that’s just me tho! i’m a fan of him and link
@@peachyjuicethis is an absolutely wild take 😂
Me starting to have a mental breakdown over my own death:
Josh: “alright so let’s move on to this fried chicken”
Salivates and cries quietly
LMFAOO
**grabs chicken leg** "How often do you think about death?"
@@kactus1889 that is so funny out of context
LMFAO
i have a phobia of dying so i think having them also talk about the food helps lol
Josh is a great personality and also a great communicator. So this transition to a conversational format with real questions and a dollop of jokes plus a weird mythical twist with the last meal concept. Chefs kiss man ‼️
🙆🏻♀️ I was quite properly impressed, too.
I disagree. I think speaking effectively on camera is one of his weakest points. Too fast. Too eager. Too focused on what he will say next to allow the proper amount of response/acknowledgment of the other persons thoughts in a given exchange.
I hope this show becomes like Hot Ones. I can see it! We love Josh!
Indeed
@@burntvirtue i had the same misconception but that is a goofy stick he portrays on camera. Listening to a hotdog is a sandwich made me understand josh is just a smart goofy guy.
This series is gonna be huge.
You bet... You rascal!
Like those balls
Thank you JSchlatt of DreamSMP
What's up checkmark
Okay
I absolutely loved what josh said
“Your past self is equally as important to your present self”
I sometimes regret some tattoos I have/my life choices but I know my past self had her motives and I’m going to respect that.
"I sometimes regret some tattoos I have/my life choices but I know my past self had her motives and I’m going to respect that."
ummm this is profound and im thankful to have read this. i needed to "hear" this. hope youre doing well, random stranger.
That was a surprisingly therapeutic watch. Man, I love Rhett.
This reminds me of Hot Ones in the absolutely best way possible and I am so So incredibly excited to see future episodes. I feel like Josh is the only person who could do this, the way he naturally balances comedy with deep or dark subjects
Yes, I agree 💯
Total hot ones vibes here. But still being its own thing. Beautifully done.
Just wanted to say I typed the same thing about hot ones before I read ur comment LOL. I seriously think it is great
Yah, the only problem I see with it is there only so much you can ask relating to the food. I think Rhett did a good job of explaining the reasoning behind each of his dishes, but lets be realistic. Most people just choose whatever they like. No big deep backstory that goes to their childhood or something like that. The lightning round could be viable, but you need just one more.... something... for the dishes incase you get a guest that just likes the food with no backstory.
Well said!
It's goofy, dirty, deep, intimate, and beautiful all at once. This might be the best RUclips interview series yet if it keeps going like this.
Couldn't agree more, absolutely loved this
Rhett having an existential moment about beans makes his GMM with Tony Hawk experience all the more interesting; and this GMKitchen experience all the more fascinating.
I want to see Link’s last meal too! Also French onion soup is top tier 🙌
The happiness that Rhett exudes as he eats his favorite foods is infectious. You KNOW food is good when you have that little giggle and smirk after the first bite.
That’s just stupid
This is a genius series, because I've constantly thought about what I'd want my "Last Meal" to be.
I’ve never really thought about it! What would yours be?
Id probably get 5 pounds of peppermint ice cream or 10 ghost peppers
Otamatome-based food
i wanna eat dinosaur bones
@@dualvoid8223 yup being stupid even in the cusp of death, you are gonna go to places
What an oddly poignant and philosophical conversation. I like that Josh is just being chill and hanging out, it's much more entertaining than when he's over the top and performing.
“… being health-conscious…” *remembers everything Rhett has eaten on GMM*
This could potentially be a great series. This is a great 'in' for an interview series. Bring in the celebrity guests!
Ikr
That would be fantastic
Facts
Yes!
I love this so much the only thing I wish is if you were eating the meal with them. I feel it would give it a more comfortable watch then you just watching over him while he eats 😂.
I agree though idk how they would section questions in the case their last meal is only one small thing
I love how even though some people say "Josh what did you do?" he always says "we", and i just love it.
@@brycewalburn3926 ya, that’s what they were getting at
This is definitely up there with hot ones. Keep bringing on mythical's favorites and outside guests and this will blow up.
I loved Rhett’s commentary on life. It was very relieving for me to hear how he interprets his time left, like a weight lifted off my shoulders!
As someone who is going to die early in life due to organ transplants and other medical issues, I love this. I think talking about dying and death shouldn’t be taboo. This was very well done. I look forward to seeing more episodes :)
you ever seen the Ask a Mortician youtube channel? really good stuff, i think you should check it out.
@Beth Vaught I don’t mind being asked anything :). I’ve always been a cautious person but if I find a person to do things with then I may do some slightly risky things.
@@vernie_in_hell I have not but I’ll go check it out :). Thanks for the suggestion!
What's your last meal?
@@vernie_in_hell I LOVE HER CHANNEL. SO good!
Best. Concept. Ever.
Edit: Seriously. People have done lists, they've prepared the last meal of others, they've done cookbooks, but seriously how often do you get to see someone really try hard to make someone's perfect last meal? It's a magical moment.
A mythical moment if you will ._.
This was so much deeper than I expected! I love the discussion format being in a more manageable chunk than the hour-long episodes like Ear Biscuits :)
Rhett is such an interesting, funny and attractive person. What a delight. I deeply relate to all of these food choices.
The part where Rhett was discussing having Link deliver his eulogy was hilarious, heartwarming and sad all at the same time!!!😭
It actually made me almost cry lol I needed to remind myself that it wasn’t real thought to continue watching this video hhhe
I love that even in Ear Biscuits they have this running joke that Link is for sure going to outlive Rhett
This is a profoundly amazing show. I’m so excited to see further installments. Grappling with death through a comfort topic, food, is such a unique take.
Thanks . I was thinking this was too depressing for me but then I read your comment and you put it into perspective. Maybe.
I can’t wait to see Link’s! I’m guessing it’s going to start with frosted mini wheats
And something peanut butter.....
Ummm. Please check the newest Mythical Kitchen video. You might be surprised.
Well, you were right
And ice cream
this was good. the first thing i thought about rhetts meal choices is "i didnt realize he was that old"
Gotta keep going with this. Rhett is so thoughtful, so a great first guest. Terry Crews and any of the celebrities from the ethical dilemma episodes would be great. Rainn Wilson seems like a perfect guest for this show.
100x yes on the Rainn Wilson suggestion.
Along the same lines, I think it would be fascinating to hear from someone with a terminal illness and how their perspectives of life and death have changed since they now have to confront that reality
Rhett: “I start thinking about the life that’s left, not the death that’s at the end of it”… Could not love this quote more ♥️♥️♥️
Rhett’s commitment to French onion soup is like my commitment to Chilé Verde.
"I was actually only 6'6 3/4", man just said ONLY, PFFT, my 5'9" Italian-ass is fuming
RIP Rhett, you were always my favorite on the show. Ever since I was a young kid I’ve been watching you and Link. We lost a real one. 😔😔
@@AtlasProductions. they're pretty obviously joking lmao
@@Samantha_Lee no it isnt "pretty obvious" but thanks for pointing it out.
damn rip link for this comment man 😂
@@AtlasProductions. r/wooooshhhh
Damn, this comment made me go check to see if Rhett actually still alive or not.
Please make this a regular “show” if you will! It’s a great way to get people talking, discussing and reflecting! I so enjoyed the sit down and I feel like I understand more of why Rhett believes what he believes. Not that I agree but it helps me to understand how someone else thinks and that’s what our world has lost! The ability to agree to disagree and have opposing opinions but it’s okay! We are all different and how boring it would be if we all thought the same!
I agree!!!
I second this! I’ve always thought last meals let you into the life of the person picking them
Wow, I was not expecting this to get so deep. I loved the real talk and it made me think about my own last meal and I surprised myself what I came up with.
It's really neat how they are looking inward to make sure they are consistent with their online lives. It's just super honest.
I love Fancy Fast Food, Meals of our Past, Past Food - all of them. But this series brings a nice balance to the chaos, a deeper side to thinking about our connection to food and each other. It’s beautiful. Can’t wait for more!
This is one of the most beautiful, vulnerable, brilliant, and Anthony Bourdain-would-be-proud-of-you things I’ve EVER seen. Rhett, your soul is so big and wonderful, my dude. Josh, Mythical Kitcheneers, YOU. WILL. WIN. AWARDS.
I remeber when Josh first came onto the show and my goodness he has really developed amazing confidence and charisma. I love it.
I was not expecting the depth of the conversation to go as deep as it did. It was a nice surprise! This show is going to be absolutely incredible and I can't wait to get more episodes where guests get this insightful and retrospective
I so want to see Ask A Mortician Caitlin Doughty on this. She's always so open to discussing death and planning. I reckon she and Josh would have a fascinating conversation.
yes!!!
Yes!! Absolutely!
Not enough likes on this comment!
This needs to happen ❤
Yes,Absolutely!! This was one of my thoughts as well
This is great
Nc
cool
It is great way to people talking
I've gotta say, this is maybe the best content that I've ever seen from the Mythical crew. It is so sincere and thought provoking. It's also an incredible opportunity to see just how insightful both Rhett and Josh are.
I love this so much- I can’t wait to see where this goes. I would absolutely love to see both John and Hank do this.
Josh cooking his own last meal, fully actualized as a series in the best possible way. It's got the B roll, it's got the podcast-style interview questions, it grapples with deep topics and bonds over commonality, it's a perfect formula for a great series.
You guys nailed this one, seriously. Can't wait to see more.
100% agree. I feel like this is the perfect blend of everything Mythical Kitchen does well, turned up to the max.
Josh cooking his own last meal is a channel Finale show.
@@recoil53 well he uhhh already did that
The thought of Link or Rhett speaking at the others funeral really got me. These two who is all the ways that matter being as close if not closer than family? I think I had my own breakdown at that.
I absolutely love this. Especially the interview format and serious subjects. It's a nice change of pace from hilarious chaos.
really digging’ the tone of this video! i love the more high energy/silly stuff too of course, but it’s nice to have a video with a more serious vibe to it. i would love to see more episodes!!
Josh is a great interviewer. Dude has a great ability to tear down walls and get in there.
Also nice to see them cooking food that isn't outlandish.
Please please please make this an enduring series! This is incredible! Josh's interview skills, pure personality, intelligence, and passion for food all really shine here in the best way possible, and the discussion is so fascinating!
I was fully expecting this to be another chaotic-energy type of episode but I'm happy to be wrong! I love how slowed down, profound, and yet still funny this was. It'll be great to see more. Hopefully all the guests will be as casually and comfortably well thought-out as Rhett was.
This video format is an amazing way to introduce people to conversations about death and personal beliefs without feeling heavy or overwhelming. I absolutely love this!
Y’all really need to get Ask a Mortician on the show!! I know this is a new show, but it’s never too early to give you guys suggestions! ☺️
I would love to see Caitylin do one with the context about death and food!
I'm wondering if Josh is a fan! She'd be proud of his death positive attitude.
Just when I thought I could not love Josh more, he presents this brilliant show. What an awesome concept for a mostly awkward topic. The fact that he makes these meals with his team makes it all the more special. Well done, MK!
Oh god my dad made pearl onion casserole every year for Thanksgiving and it scarred me for life.
This is fantastic. Please keep this up. It's so good. Easily the best thing on Mythical. Like someone else said, this could even be like a new Hot Ones. The adult, philosophical conversations while also discussing food is amazing. I love this.
I love that regardless of who Josh is talking to, he always looks like he’s madly in love with them. I fully expected him to end this with “I love you.”
It is only right to get link on the show. I really enjoyed getting to learn more about who Rhett is as a person. Just started watching mythical morning a few weeks back and love it.
If you enjoy podcasts check out their Ear Biscuits podcast. Gives you a lot more insight to who they are
I agree with the other person - I love gmm (welcome to the mythical family, btw!!), but I also really enjoy their ear biscuits podcast. They're genuinely much more thoughtful and introspective than most guys. I wonder sometimes how much of that has to do with them prioritizing their friendship as well as of course their marriages over the years. Anyway, it depends on the episode, but I do think you might enjoy it!
Like others are saying - welcome!!!
We really need this to be a series and you gotta get some celebrity guests on. Love it!
Rhett and link are so lucky to have found this man
this felt even more candid than earbiscuits usually does and wow. honestly, well done to josh and loved hearing rhett's thoughts. can't wait for another episode!
This is an excellent series. Poignant, yet still with the full wacky Mythical vibe that we all love so much. You guys are awesome!
Dude, I love listening to Rhett's views on things. He's so smart and intriguing and he really opens up doors in conversation that make you think. Love him.
I love this concept so much. The meta level conversations with Rhett just made it even better
I would love to see this series grow. Gave me a little of "Hot Ones" kind of vibe. Love the existential and philosophical themes. What a perfect setting for an interview!
Get Sean Evans on the Show! That would be fantastic!
This was an amazing interview, never thought I'd see someone on the same level of skill as Sean Evans (at least not on RUclips) but here Josh is. He absolutely killed it.
Also always love a show that goes with a more casual and positive look on death
I'm a new Mythical Beast and I've been binge watching everything. This is so good. Not only the format but Josh as an interviewer, and the interview itself (because Rhett is just amazing)
A great future idea would be to make a Last Meals cookbook after you have a bunch of episodes out! I’d LOVE the recipes for the French onion soup and beans!
Wow, this was an incredible episode. What I anticipated was a lot of silliness, but what we got was some really thoughtful questions with equally thoughtful responses. I walk away from this episode knowing and respecting Rhett and Josh more. Thank you for this episode! I look forward to more like this.
I love this. Josh should eat the meal too. Might make it flow more like a dinner convo vs watching him eat.
He does now
This guy is down to earth and genuine and comfortable and hilarious. Love his sense of humor, he’s quick! This is my favorite Last Meal.
I actually like this episode a ton, I really hope this is done with Link also because it's interesting to hear these conversations with Josh. The food also looks epic!
Slow clap for you Josh. This is like hot ones but more chaos and I LOVE IT.
Not that I don’t enjoy Josh, but these are my most enjoyable videos of his, jokes are always good but I like the questions he asked and conversation he brought to the table. Also the seriousness in some parts where you and Rhett really gave meaningful and in depth answers. Great episode.
I have a feeling I’m gonna love this series!
this is a fantastic interview
This is one of my favorite videos on the internet with Rhett in it. It really opens something up about him and it is super interesting to hear someone I’ve watched for years talk about something like this.
If you’re into Rhett and Link talking a little more personally about themselves I can only recommend watching Ear Biscuits!
I want to see this with Link, though I feel like for some reason he would just pick the most luxurious foods, or the most bland foods. It could go either way, only one way to find out!
Pudding and cottage cheese lol 😂
A jar of peanut butter
@@peacenueve11 and cereal 😂
We know peanut butter would be in it somehow, but I wouldn't mind betting it's a lot of southern foods as well. Link has talked about how much he loved his mom's cooking growing up!
I grew up watching this show since 2014 (i was 13 at the time and my best friend had introduced me to it) and I’ve always enjoyed Rhett and links take on things (as much as the silly fun stuff). But i also always thought that them addressing important issues and having real talks was just as interesting as the other stuff to me since they were such smart and earnest people with a lot to say.
I started watching the mythical show sometime after my mother had past in 2014 and those daily episodes I watched at breakfast before school are one of the times i look back on very fondly. I just had to reflect on that time because of what Rhett and josh said about Rhett’s legacy and what he put out on the internet. Made me think about what he’s given me.
Also if it helps I had forgotten about the chocolate stream thing that is until u brought it up 😂.
How did I just find out about this series? This is great stuff. The conversation is just so interesting and to connect that with food is a whole other level.
I love the camera work and lighting on the food prep shots. This ride just keeps getting better!
SAME. It looks SO aesthetically pleasing- I really enjoyed it.
This could be the next Hot Ones, I love the depth of conversation with the humorous undertones. Hope we get many seasons of this show!
Loved this episode so much, most of the questions i tried to answer myself as if i was being interviewed. Great series
This was so good! Rhett is so thoughtful and deep. Definitely a wizard. 🧙♂️
I literally take medicine because thinking about death gives me horrible panic attacks. I think listening to peoples thoughts on death in this series could be a great form of therapy. Thanks for sharing, Rhett!
I'm sorry you have to deal with that!
I think of death qnd life in terms of a dream. You don't remember when it began, you don't know when it is ending. You never know if your reality is "real". All you have is the experience you're feeling at this moment. Anything before or after is a dream- Inconsequential and powerful.
There was a man who suffered a severe concussion, woke up, finished school, met a girl, started a family. Only to wake up, still on the asphalt after the attack. His whole life was a dream.
Personally I had a boy who showed me life was worth living. That no matter what cruel irrational things were done to you, there was a way to make the pain worth it. Then I woke up and spent weeks crying, because I would never see him again.
It was all just a dream. You don't remember when the dream starts or ends - don't fear either- because another dream or awakening is waiting. And If there is no dream, why worry?
You can't remember time spent in nothing. Its just good rest on a night without dreams.
I can totally relate to your situation. death terrifies me, but this episode actually brought tears to my eyes. it gives me the unus annus vibes that I miss
This is a brilliant idea and concept. I loved getting a more in depth interview of Rhett and around a meal he would choose as his last meal. I can't wait to see more of these.
i absolutely love this series!! i’d love to see- link, stevie, and chase next :))
This was really really great. Josh is a great interviewer.
I would love to see a mini series where Rhett and Josh take some classes at the community college.
This is so random... but YES
I know her content is a totally different tone, but I'd love to see Caitlin Doughty on an episode of this series. Death positivity is her whole thing, so this would be really fitting
OH, I LOVE THIS IDEA
YAAAAAAAS! As a Deathling and mythical beast that would be a dream come true! I think they would vibe really well🤩🤩
YES!
Agree with above. ❤️😎👍
Omg yES
cant believe its been a year already !! love love love this series and Josh as an interviewer
I love this format/series (hopefully more eps)
Luv it luv it
I just love how Josh presents himself in these "at the table" interview situations. He's roughly 68% less chaotic compared to having a guest in his kitchen. I love chaotic Josh when he's alone or with the MK crew, but these interviews are way better when they are at the table.
Really liked this episode, had a nice mixture of philosophical, more mature, debate, and of course the usual shenanigan's. Nice mix. :-) And the food looked of course absolutely amazing, also the cooking shots where quite delightful.
Hoping this continues strong. Can think of many in the RUclips community I would love to see Josh interview. Specially with the depth that's come from age with many of the let's play guys.
this is just a podcast with cool food and i absolutely love it.
