I appreciate your honesty in the video. This is what I would want to hear from a salesman, or someone that owns the car. Stuff like: "most of the power you're gonna get is from the low end of the RPMs, so a lot of people just short shift the shit out of it"-- that's honesty, i appreciate that. keep up the good work.

It's the EA288 engine. I drove the previous 2.0 TDI engine on a Passat NMS and this new EA288 on the same car and the EA288 is a completely different beast. It drives very similar to a gas engine. Yes, the manual transmission is way more fun to drive, hands down! If you must have the bells and whistles AND the manual transmission, then the Golf Sportwagen is the way to go. I went the Passat version which is a very trimmed down, but with a manual transmission.

not sure why all the thumbs down, the commentary was pretty honest and made a lot of good points.
I'd did find the short shifting comment hilarious! 3:40

The last Jetta Sportwagen was based on the previous Jetta model, the model with all of the good stuff. So you can not compare it to the cheap Jetta that is sold today. Furthermore, the last Jetta Sportwagen Diesel came with rear independent suspension and the new one does not. If you want an IRS then you have to buy the one with the 1.8T engine.

31 MPG if you're over-revving the engine. If you shift under 2500 RPM every gear, you'd get better mileage especially in a diesel. I realize that I'm stating the obvious, but the driver is revving the engine, which may be attractive for the advertising aspect. The Golf TDI will definitely be my next car.

I'm coming from a Touareg TDI... I want a little Touareg TDI... This is it. I just hope I get the yay factor that you're getting. Hopefully it's included : )

Are you smoking pot? How was the Jetta Sportwagen tdi compromised because it was designed for the American and Chinese market? Details and examples please.

+King Hammurabi When he shifted gears, he really liked the response of the engine and drive train. With the small power band, he had to shift frequently, resulting in a pleasant acceleration/exhiliration. Fahrfenuggin!

DSG is the way to go to get the most out of the TDI engine.
