I love it when Margot tells her brothers “ didn’t it ever occur to you that the poor are people like us?” She gets it!

Enjoyed your review. I was wondering if I should re-subscribe to Starz to watch. The first season was wild. When she gave Rahima the gunpowder to put in the brioche I cackled.

@@debbailey3434 the first episode was just laying the foundation.. and kinda different because we are meeting new characters... Here’s what I would do.. see who you can get a free trial from Starz through.. like Hulu or Amazon and watch the first couple episodes of season 2 before you commit lol

Do you think the lady preacher in the forest is a witch? Well I'm here for the reviews it's not many people are doing them on the serpent Queen

I was holding on, but I wasn't sure people were watching this season. I actually think the preacher lady is just a preacher but we will see.

I think Nostradamus would get a kick of hearing him called “little witch doctor” 😂

      Oh, I’m sorry. Wrong assumption.
No, Cosimo Ruggieri was one of Catherine’s favorites. But in Serpent Queen they showed that she brought Rugieri with her from Italy. However, Cosimo Ruggieri didn’t arrive to French court till early 1570s, at the end of Charles IX’s reign. And initially he taught Italian to his wife, Catherine of Austria. He didn’t get Catherine’s eye until close to Charles’s death, which he apparently predicted and that’s when he caught Catherine de Medici’s interest.
Rugieri was more popular during the reign of Marie de Medici.
In the earlier years Catherine used the services of Nostradamus. Although he never lived in the forest. (Nor did Rugieri for that matter). In the Seroent Queen they mixed two historic personalities in one and gave him a residence in a hut in the woods, which truly makes him come across as a “witch doctor”!
Michael Nostradamus was invited to court about 10 years prior to Ruggieri, after his book of with prophesies was published in 1555. And he worked for Catherine a few years. He returned to Salon-de-Provance and remained there working on cure for plague. Apparently he stayed in tough with Catherine and did astrological calculations for her, but there are no record that he ever returned to court. Just letters. He died in 1566.
