When everything is considered, Mary actually lived a very sad life. I cannot help but feel very sorry for her. Excellent job, Royalty Now, for this incredible mini doc and recreation ❤
Well, I wonder why couldn’t she allow Darnley the throne should he outlive her. Didn’t she make an identical request to Queen Elizabeth!! Whatever might have been her intentions for refusal, it was a mistake. She broke a happy marriage. That was a chance for a happy, peaceful life which was squandered away.
“…and Henry, of course, had a tantrum.” This made me laugh but it reminds me of the time I wrote the tantrum and associated it with a historical figure.
That was amazing exactly how she would be imaged to look. As a Scot who was told about her all my life, I really appreciated this video and how realistic she looks at the end. Exactly as I imagined
well in english history just because she gave birth to James and got beheaded by Elizabeth :D people say that she got the last laugh by having her son on the English throne but is that really so ? I mean...her son grew up a protestant...and in the end of the day even Stuart reign ended...
@A W well… kind of. Elizabeth and Mary were related after all. So Elizabeth might not have any DIRECT descendants, but she still had people related to her alive. King Charles III is related to both Mary and Elizabeth. The Royal line goes down from Henry VII’s daughter (Mary’s grandmother) Margaret Tudor. Henry VII was also Henry VIII’s father so yeah still related to current monarchy, but not as directly as Mary is. Plus there is the whole German kerfuffle with the George which just confused EVERYONE for a minute there
I always feel awful that they botched her unfair execution so badly. It took 3 blows of the axe, they purposely used a dull one to make her suffer. She just wanted to go home and live in peace.
I dont believe they wanted to make her suffer....botched executions were a normal thing back then...look at Margaret Pole or Thomas Cromwell.. I dont believe for a second that they wanted to botch the execution...think with your brain now....it is VERY bad PR for Elizabeth to execute a queen in a botched way....also Mary wanted to be seen as a catholic martyr...and botched execution would absolutely help with that, yeah please research more of this...it wasnt intentional , if anything they wanted to get it right soo much that executioner probably lost his nerve
I don’t think the axe was dull. The executioner completely missed her neck on the first blow, hitting her in the head. Some accounts say she said “my dear God“ when this happened, Others say she made a small noise. One can hope this made her unconscious. With the second blow of the ax, her head was almost completely off but some was still attached. One can hope, as her spinal cord was completely severed, at this point that she was no longer alive or aware of anything. Maybe the executioner was drunk? It’s true, she was seen as a traitor, particularly by Protestants. But it was traditional to make the executions of Royals to be as clean as possible, so as not to lower them in the eyes of the people. This is one of the reasons Queen Elizabeth hesitated to execute her in the first place. Royals often had other Royals executed in the cleanest ways possible, because they realised it could be them. This is why, at the time, few Royals, executed at the command of other Royals, were burned at the stake, hung drawn, and quartered, or even hung.

It is good to know, it is her bloodline in the current monarchy. It is her blood that flowed through Elizabeth II, and flows through Charles and William.
Your visual renderings are brilliantly done! This one of Mary, Queen of Scots, and Marie Antoinette bring out the character of the subject. It gives the viewer of today something of value, seeing the subject in more realistic imaging as opposed to the art of the time. Bravo to you and your team!!

I can believe the Lennoxlove mask is real, a lot of women still look pretty good at 40. Many women are still in pretty good condition at over 50. I personally know women that you wouldn't know were over 60. Being a royal who had always been able to keep herself in good condition, even in Carlisle Castle, as well and being renowned for her natural beauty and noting the good condition the Lennoxlove mask was kept in for centuries. I'd say the Lennoxlove mask is probably one of the most, if not the most, faithful relics of anyone's face that you've been able to access on this channel.
I attended grammar school in England where my history teacher was as dry and dull as one can imagine. But now, having found your channel and listened to your narratives, the jigsaw puzzle pieces of Scottish and English history are now falling into place...sixty-five years later. And for my new understanding of events, I thank you.
Her life was so orchestrated by her bloodline. She really had a rough life, and she was much prettier than she'd been depicted previously. I hope she's resting in peace.

You do a great job as usual, not only with the reconstruction of Mary's face, but also with her history. I admit as a history buff my Knowledge about her background was limited before this video. It was Very informative and I learned a lot today about Mary Queen of Scotts. thankyou for your hard work for this video.
I have viewed many of your presentations and with each one I am left with the almost breathless experience of seeing the person, not only alive and real, but that I am actually meeting them. Quite extraordinary.
I do believe this is a beautiful recreation of Mary- I see Elizabeth in her also which makes sense since they shared a bloodline with Henry. Love your work!!!
She looks like Elizabeth woodville "the dragon set eyes" the long nose and the small Tudor lips, this was an amazing reconstruction. Ive spent decades learning & researching these people, when her face came up it felt like i was seeing an old friend. The proportion & resemblance are just so believable and i dare say accurate well accurate as 1 can be with 443 years between them.😂 Thank you your work is truly amazing ❤
An excellent biography was written by Lady Antonia Fraser. By the time you finish reading it you will know every detail of her life and be quite emotional at her execution.
If she was imprisoned for 17 years, saw little sunlight, and was still tended to and taken care of by her ladies… I wouldn’t doubt she might have looked pretty youthful for her age. It’s also possible that whoever made the mask simply smoothed out some of her aged wrinkles in an effort to capture her likeness as she was known before all that.
I love Mary and feel so sorry for her. She really was put in impossible situations, as most women were back then. Even Elizabeth; as she was hesitant at first to harm Mary. It's quiet sad. I hope they're all at peace.
The final recreation of Mary's image is fascinating. The one thing that I believe may or may not be off is the eye color is darker than described early in the documentation.
Another mesmerising episode of Mary of Scotland, Becca, all of your work is thoroughly researched, accurate and well presented, an absolute pleasure to watch as always I, thank you.

I really like what you have done here. Mary of Scotts has a very intriguing life indeed, and your art is amazing.
👑Excellent work on bringing the beautiful face of Mary Queen of Scots back to life. And such a nice documentary video too in her honour. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Amazing commentary, recreation work and production - as always! As someone who often does photo restorations, I really appreciate your incredibly talented work.
This was awesome. I loved it. Ive watched many movies and series on Mary Queen of Scotts but this was the first time I actually understood all the players and the timeline. The recreation of het face was brilliant. Now I can actually picture her properly in the story of her life. Thankyou. Im definitely a new subscriber and fan.
Another fantastic recreation 😊 I'm Scottish so obviously I'll always have a soft spot for Mary however I can acknowledge that Mary seemed to lead with her heart and Elizabeth with her Mind. Elizabeth was the better Queen but I feel both in their way were tragic figures.
I have to say, although I find her life tragic, it always seemed to me that she made several poor decisions that lead her to where she ended up. It seemes like after being the queen of France, rulling Scotland wasn't 'enough' for her - and that Elizabeth's paranoia wasn't quite unfounded from the start. Too bad, cause she could've made a charming ruler.
I always thought her very foolish . A royal cannot have the life she preferred. Instead of emotionally maturing and using her mind to help her … and her situation, she Always made the weakest decision. Of course I am a Boleyn and a bit biased.
Ive just come across your channel. Amazing recreation of historical figures of the Tudor era. Being non english, i dont know much about the history of england, but seeing your recreation of Elizabeth and Mary Stuart really is an exciting way to learn history. Your recreation of both figures made me speechless.
She was absolutely beautiful, oh, and so tall, which blows my mind thinking about that period of history. Thank you for bringing all of this to our attention.
This was heart breaking. Some people are placed on this earth to live a life of misery and suffering, unfortunately Mary was one of those souls who had to endure the pain.
Such a beautifully crafted presentation of history, & your amazing CGI art. When your active portrait smiled, looked up & to the left, she looked real. You brought her charisma to life, in that brief scene. May your channel grow exponentially, as our knowledge of history grows, thanks to you. Cheers!
Your videos are amazing! I’m so impressed with the time and effort you put into your work. You are a great story teller and artist. I love hearing the history behind each historical person and the big reveal at the end! Keep the recreations coming! ❤
Thanks. Its hard to decide. I like the Noble nose but portraits seem to show a nose that points downward. Regardless her beauty was well noted and lets face it, a charming personality can make a person more attractive.
I agree, her proportions line up but I’m unsure why the painted portraits would paint her nose more downturned than it actually was (if the death mask is her of course)
@@RoyaltyNowStudios It's possible that a more downturned nose was considered more aesthetically appealing or appropriate for a queen than an upturned one at the time, especially as downturned noses seem to be most common in portraits I've seen. Perhaps it was a stylistic choice of the era? Alternatively, without nose jobs or photoshop, a painter was both camera and filter for a royal's selfie if one took issue with their nose.
Those letters are known as the Casket Letters and a panel of handwriting experts spent many months examining them and came to the conclusion they had been forged most likely by the English lords. This was such a good documentary of her life; I learned a lot. Thank you.
Yes. There are currently a lot of questions about the authenticity of the Casket Letters in the Babington Plot. Which makes Mary's fate even more pitiable. The Elizabethan security state was pretty mighty.
It is so interesting that when the portrait of Elisabeth and Anne Boleyn are put together I can clearly see the resemblance. Though there seems to be questions around Anne Boleyn's portrait, the resemblance convinced me it is her lol
Despite a harsh life she is quite beautiful and youthful for the age of 44. At first I thought the Lennoxlove Mask was the more realistic looking of the two. But after seeing your re-creation I think the Jedburgh Mask looks more like what you produced.
I've heard that it was usual and customary for historical painters to make adjustments to a painting so a portrait would depict a person's face that better coincides with symmetry and textbook proportions. To me, the recreation of Mary Queen of Scots face is most likely spot on and is most likely very accurate. Just my two cents worth.
When everything is considered, Mary actually lived a very sad life. I cannot help but feel very sorry for her. Excellent job, Royalty Now, for this incredible mini doc and recreation ❤

I had no idea how sad her life was, she lost her true love at such a young age. I’m happy they grew up together and that she learned what happiness was. This is such a cool video, seeing her at the end was so much more special after learning her story. Thank you so much, this was a great video!
It is good to know, it is her bloodline in the current monarchy. It is her blood that flowed through Elizabeth II, and flows through Charles and William.
I think Mary is my new fav queen. Your brilliant storytelling is only surpassed by your fantastic reconstructions. Well done, as always.
Thank you!
What a fantastic re-creation of her death mask . So well done .
I think Mary of Scotland was a classic Tudor-time beauty. She has very nice, well balanced features.
Your visual renderings are brilliantly done! This one of Mary, Queen of Scots, and Marie Antoinette bring out the character of the subject. It gives the viewer of today something of value, seeing the subject in more realistic imaging as opposed to the art of the time. Bravo to you and your team!!
The music you use on these videos are so great I wish there was a soundtrack. Instrumental music is all I listen to!
I swear...your videos get better and better...I love them. Your voice is calming and melodic...If you did a marathon...I could relax forever!!!
Your videos always give me goosebumps. You speak with so much care, trying to tell a story through multiple angles so that we can get a fair insight into the lives of these famous faces. I've never thought I would cry for Napoleon but I was sure I would cry with the story of Mary and oh my. That ending line. This is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us ❤️
Thank you so much!! Andre is an amazing writer and editor. We really appreciate it.
Very moving to see Mary smiling at the end. Thank you!
I attended grammar school in England where my history teacher was as dry and dull as one can imagine. But now, having found your channel and listened to your narratives, the jigsaw puzzle pieces of Scottish and English history are now falling into place...sixty-five years later. And for my new understanding of events, I thank you.
Finally something realistic, unlike other reconstructions of some historical figures I've seen. Great job!
If it was realistic, she'd be a light-skinned negroid.
Her life was so orchestrated by her bloodline. She really had a rough life, and she was much prettier than she'd been depicted previously. I hope she's resting in peace.
This is the first of your videos I’ve watched, but it won’t be the last. I gasped at the end when I saw your reconstruction of Mary! Incredible mini-doc and art! Can’t wait to watch more.
The recreation was absolutely stunning . Sent shivers down my spine . What an age we live in with technology . Tragic story !
Henry the 7th through Margaret Tudor
She looks like Elizabeth woodville "the dragon set eyes" the long nose and the small Tudor lips, this was an amazing reconstruction.
Ive spent decades learning & researching these people, when her face came up it felt like i was seeing an old friend. The proportion & resemblance are just so believable and i dare say accurate well accurate as 1 can be with 443 years between them.😂
Thank you your work is truly amazing ❤
Stunning. The time and hard work you put into your videos - oh, the hours! What a tremendous talent you are. Thank you.
An excellent biography was written by Lady Antonia Fraser. By the time you finish reading it you will know every detail of her life and be quite emotional at her execution.
Saoirse Ronan who was cast as Mary in the 2018 film looks very much like the portrait included at the beginning of this vlog. Almost uncanny!
I can’t thank you enough for starting this channel. They should really use these is school to make history come to life
You did an excellent job of boiling down a very complicated story. Terrific facial recreation!!
But she wasn’t kept in a jail cell or something. She was in a mansion with a bunch of servants she just wasn’t allowed to leave.
@@8teezy Ok? That’s still being “imprisoned.” The word “imprisoned” is just for holding someone against their will. It’s not literally a prison.
@@pleasesetmeonfire1166 Im saying I doubt she rarely saw the sun like you are saying.
It’s said that English women have beautiful complexions because the sun rarely shines there anyway.
@@PlainJane230I was going to say that, not a ton of sun there and not strong either.
The revealing of Mary at the end gave me chills all the way down
👑Excellent work on bringing the beautiful face of Mary Queen of Scots back to life. And such a nice documentary video too in her honour. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Amazing commentary, recreation work and production - as always! As someone who often does photo restorations, I really appreciate your incredibly talented work.
Thanks!
I love how clearly and well documented all of the story is; so much to learn. You have a great talent, Royalty Now Studios. Can't wait to see more.
John Knox was also Scottish, and he hated Mary Stuart.
Elizabeth was a murderer, just like her father, half sister and half brother..seems it ran in that family...
I always thought her very foolish . A royal cannot have the life she preferred. Instead of emotionally maturing and using her mind to help her … and her situation, she Always made the weakest decision. Of course I am a Boleyn and a bit biased.
You sound like a traitor for liking a bully for an english queen.
Ive just come across your channel. Amazing recreation of historical figures of the Tudor era. Being non english, i dont know much about the history of england, but seeing your recreation of Elizabeth and Mary Stuart really is an exciting way to learn history. Your recreation of both figures made me speechless.
Your channel is truly one of the best on RUclips! I truly hope you keep doing this, its so so cool. You should do Mary I (Bloody Mary) or Queen Anne!
You are so kind! We are definitely not stopping anytime soon :)
Just wow. Gotta love the algorithm that sent me here. What a cool way of presenting history and discussing it at the same time! Bravo!
I love this, when you compare it to the Elizabeth I recreation I feel like you can definitely see a sort of resemblance!
I agree!
Kassie Kelly.Never thought Red Liz was beautiful. But Mary was.
Such a beautifully crafted presentation of history, & your amazing CGI art. When your active portrait smiled, looked up & to the left, she looked real. You brought her charisma to life, in that brief scene.
May your channel grow exponentially, as our knowledge of history grows, thanks to you. Cheers!
My heart goes out to Mary. She deserved a better life..
This was such a great video. Your recreation of Mary is stunning. Thank you so much
Your videos are amazing! I’m so impressed with the time and effort you put into your work. You are a great story teller and artist. I love hearing the history behind each historical person and the big reveal at the end! Keep the recreations coming! ❤
Thank you! We appreciate it!
I love the history lessons told so gently. What a beautiful woman she was. Thank you!
Love all the research, interesting details, illustrations ,and narration. First class!
I applaud the wonderful job you do. Thank you to all that work at making this an informative and interesting program.
I agree with you. You have made her very beautiful ❤️
Very interesting. My heart broke when "she was finally free". Good work!
Yes, Hans Holbein made Anne of Cleves way too pretty in her portrait.
감사합니다.
Thank you!!
😃😃😃💜💜
You're such an INCREDIBLE artist
I really enjoyed this. You are very talented. Thank you for making history come alive.
It’s almost magical seeing the facial reconstruction, thank you for these amazing videos! ❤
I found this account in my history recommended section and I just can't stop watching 😭 🥰
"Reign " that's where I started to love her
I still think RN covering St. Olga of Kiev would be amazing. She is a very unique woman with a fascinating background and history.
Mary is such an interesting figure from history!
I love your wonderful website you are very talented, you must bring so much joy to so many people by your awesomely talented work. Thank you so much
What a fascinating story! Thanks for doing this!
Absolutely Wonderful, well done! And thank you, I really enjoyed it. The portrait at the end is stunning x
You should do the Valois and The Bourbons
To my Great Aunt, Mary Stuart, Queen of the Scots… my heart is with you. 🥹🖤
