I worked on this film briefly in the summer of 1976 in Providence RI as a cel painter. Just found the invite to the first screening: 3 April 1977 in Providence. Didn't get to go, so this is first time I've seen any of it! Those images are still in my head, even tho the film looks very dusty and color faded. Would love to see the rest of it. Jeff and Mary were very cool. We watched old cartoons at lunchtime!
Acid Burn Flashback Tabu was at my Blockbuster Video in 1991 in Raleigh N.C. I was 16. I made a copy of it and my friends and I would drop acid and watch it over and over. "Life's a team sport, boy."
This was made in the animation department at RISD back in the 1980's. It was distributed by Picture Start (RIP) of Chicago in 16mm and 35mm theatrical short. It was very popular and I have seen the theatrical film version many times back when I taught animation. Jeff Carpenter went on to create MID OCEAN MOTION PICTURES (RIP) in Los Angeles as this film thrust him into success in animation. I do not know where he is now. This is a poetic "narrative" that won many festival awards.
Wow, haven't seen this cartoon in 41 years--'cause i was AT that April '77 RISD screening, just finishing up my freshman year at RISD! And i've NEVER forgotten it, how great it was! GOD BLESS THE INTERNET!!!

To be perfectly honest I have no idea what I just saw, but for some reason it excites me like nothing I've ever seen before. It was like it was normal and rational, but perverse and absurd all in the same instant.
Well, looks like the last time somebody asked for part 2 was four years ago - any updates on if/when you will post it? Thanks...
