  • The MINI S E Countryman ALL4 hybrid has a base price of $36,800 compared to the base Countryman which costs $31,200. But the E Countryman is eligible for a $4000 Federal Tax Credit which takes some of the sting out of the purchase price. If you are in the market for an All-Wheel drive plug-in hybrid then this is the only game in town.
The hybrid system combines a 134 horsepower turbocharged 1.5 liter 3-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce a total of 221 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. This delivers a factory estimated 0-60 MPH time of 6.7 seconds. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic. The MINI E Countryman Plug-In Hybrid is very mild mannered and transition between gas and electric is seamless. EPA estimates a 65 MPG equivalent score with about 12 miles of all electric driving range.

Good to see Dennis Miller not letting stand up comedy get in the way of this very comprehensive and informative review.

I test drove this and loved it too. But the dealer had no idea how to put this thing in electric drive mode. So it's that little dial in between the seats?

ok, some serious questions need to be answered, is this car 4x4 as it claims? when the front wheels are powered by the petrol engine and the rear by the electric? im waiting for mini to confirm. what happens when you dont have charge left in the electric batteries to power the rear wheels and you need 4 x 4 in ice or snowy situations? Why have mini/bmw failed to supply the domestic charging cable when supplying the hybrids????? All you get is a case to put it in!!!! My mileage is only 24.5 miles to the gallon !! just using the petrol engine and since i picked my new mini phev car up two weeks ago ii still haven't received the domestic charging cable. So unable to charge battery properly !! yes it wasn't supplied when i collected the car.

The battery always reserves enough charge to maintain 4 wheel drive !

I like the car but it makes no sense! I can't figure out the math... there are cheaper cars with better mileage and greater range! Who would choose one of these?

Does it really saved a lot fuel bill when you still need to charge?

You'd be surprise how different my 2018 Countryman Cooper S All4 Manual Transmission is to what you tested! So many of the missing items you mentioned, I've got. 🤓 Rear 12V✔️, Squishy rear armrest with cup holders✔️. Looks funny without sunroofs.
Did I hear you correctly: 260 mile range? Mine is like 480 miles! My tank must be much larger than the E's.

Adding complexity to an already unreliable brand. Formula for multiple recalls and TSBs.

Inverted Hover MINI is like #13 in the rankings of reliability, these days. Your information is way out of date, but thanks for playing. Oh, and lest you think mine's too new to know, prior to this, I drove a 2014 F56 MINI Hardtop for 3 1/2 trouble-free years. 3rd Gen MINIs are very reliable.

Mine is 2016 and I've been in the garage many times because a foal smell in the A/C since day one. Mini has never resolved the issue.

My 2004 Mini Cooper CVT has been great and super reliable since I purchased it used three years ago. The CVT transmission is not a problem if you change the transmission fluid at about 100,000 miles.
