  • Ryan take a look at the closest thing you can buy to an all-electric MINI Cooper -- the all-new Plug-In Hybrid version! Is this the MINI fans have been waiting for? We poke it, prod it, drive it and compare against the BMW X2.

    Charles Cooper was a avionic instrument maker in the RAF, so the circles aren't weird they are DNA

    You said this is pretty much a BMW X1, but weird. I went and had a look at the X1 - man that is one ugly vehicle. The MINI, on the other hand, is beautiful. The fact that you don't get it does not mean it's weird.

    As a former owner of the last generation countryman, you buy a mini because you want a mini. It has nothing to do with practicality (although it was a bonus and fun.

      Hi, how about insurance? Is it expensive?

    The circles make it 'mini'

    Mixed review really. Not sure you understand the design ethos’s at all of mini. Look at the original design and you will get an idea By the video you don’t get mini and what it is about. The infotainment is the BMW iDrive with different graphics. Please do a bit more research on the lighting and what it all means as it does, it’s not random. I agree with some of what you said. On the plus side it’s a well edited video and a lot of facts as well.

      Agree 100%. It is so important in a world of media overload that the host invest time to understand the basics of the vehicle. Otherwise the review is a disservice to the manufacturer and the viewer. I am pretty sure you could have emailed or called someone from MINI who would have explained things to you.

    You are weird! Why are you reviewing this car (2018 MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 PHEV ). This high quality, high priced car is not meant for you. However, your technicals are okay.

    Keep it in sport mode and on auto drive for best performance and results

    When you are referring to the components of the interior, eg when talking about the "disco" lights around the main screen, it would be great if the camera could show us that instead of keeping its focus on the presenter..

    You can also turn off or set the lights to what you want

    What happens to the all wheel drive when the electric battery is depleted? Do you get front wheel drive until you charge the battery?

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  6 лет назад

      It acts like a hybrid. The electric cells are never completely depleted.

      I have one, when the battery gets to 7%, the engine kicks in and the vehicle goes into hybrid, maintaining the AWD functionality

    It's a shame there is no pure electric version of this with at least 200 miles range

    It’s not the 2018 version, but the 2017. I think it is not weird, it’s rather a car for the mini consumer instead, and those would not want an X2, so it’s not a logical thing to compare those.

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  6 лет назад

      The car monroney (official doc) says it’s a 2018.

      Driving Sports TV could be stock, but 2018 does have differences in the interior like the fuel indicator or the mini driving modes that are not around gear shift anymore.
      I don’t know if it’s everywhere but in Europe you get navigation, you get Apple Play, no matter the version.

    I don't get why they can't have a BMW style interior option for the mini.

    Weird is the appropriate word.. it s just your point of view which is based on your basic personal taste .. there s no original car on the market which make you drive « different « !

    You really should have also included the driving experience AFTER the 12 mile battery depletion. I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't be getting to 60 in 7.12 seconds.

      It’s the same gas engine found in base trim MINIs... with an extra couple hundred pounds to lug along.

    The only reason you call it weird is because you are use to such ugly cars on that side of the world
