Technically that’s true, but there’s also the 500e (all electric). From an engine standpoint, yes, all models are manual.
You can order that feature under manual labour.
That's what made going to Mini an easy choice. Now that they reportedly won't have the JCW with manual transmission, will have me looking other places.

I’m going to be honest, I LIKE having seats you have to manually move... you can get it exactly right and it feels less complicated 🤷♂️
Electric seats have more possible positions than manual seats though. I don't care for electric seats only because I never have to adjust my seat after the first time so why bother.
If you share a car with someone else and you are different heights then electric seats with memory presets are great. If you're the only one that drives your vehicle then electric seas are unnecessary - expensive, heavy and more things to go wrong.
They're lighter, it's faster to get them in the right spot, and in coupes you dont have to wait like 15 seconds for the seat to move up so you can get in back, then wait another 15 seconds for the seat to move back. They're objectively better.
no you can get it exactly right in electric and you can even do it on the move. do that in a manual and you'll slide all the way back or all the way front if your braking lol
@@xavierramirez330 that's literally never happened to me because you almost never move your seat. Last time I moved my seat was when I let someone else drive it and they moved the seat up. Half a second of moving the seat and haven't had to touch it since.

That's because the doug score includes supercars and stuff, so 3/10 is good for a crossover, since its a fun to drive cross over in comparison to others
It's because it's not just his opinion he's basing the scores on, if that makes sense...
Scores have to be class-based. Otherwise every car will score either mediocre on everything or low on half the factors and high on half.
Especially stuff like "practicality" has to be adjusted based on the car type. All cars are varying degrees of practical in different scenarios.
Anyone else notice Doug's phone at 8:38 said the time was 4:20P.M, and at 4/22? Because everyone knows that 4/22 is 4/20, too.

Big fan of the Countryman, love the rear and all the chrome, looks awesome. Sad that all the Mini's are so expensive, but at least the interiors and outer design are always interesting. Nobody can accuse them of being boring.
Its an upscale Beetle and VW’s rival BMW leaves nothing to chance. Expensive but for people in the market for a Mini, its a premium, fun experience.

Most of the strange quirks you mentioned are a very traditional mini thing. The red for sport is a John cooper works color scheme. The plaid pattern was an interior option for the old minis. The checkerboard was a common roof paint scheme since forever. The central circle in the dashboard goes back to the old mini’s where ALL the gauges were in a circle. I had a 1974 mini while I lived in England and seeing a lot of the Cary overs are cool. Most people hate the 3 cylinder engine since for a while it wasn’t made by BMW and suffered as far as reliability, power and fuel economy. As far as all the things that made you smile is what made people into Mini people. Many of the things they got rid of with the Countryman is what many of the purists loved. That being said I will take it over any other crossover if price wasn’t a issue. Thanks for the great review.

Absolutely love ours. Three years we've been putting it through its paces and at 108k miles with minimal issues. Nothing but absolutely comfortable and fun for both the person in the driver seat and even the back seat. It's a very practical mini monster in a class of its own.

Hey Doug, I think you should do a video based on quirky federal and maybe state regulations for vehicles on your other channel! I love to hear about these regulations and how the automobile companies try and get around it to implement style. Your channel is what I follow for the quirkiness. I can go to any channel and find out how much horsepower a car has. But only you would say why the DTRL LED turns off when the signal light is engaged and the mandate to back it. So it’s just a suggestion but I like learning about how things are and the way that it is. You seem to convey that seamlessly!

The clutch and gearbox on my old Mini Clubman from 2012 was so good! I went automatic when I changed the car to a Golf R because the gearbox and clutch on the Golf R were much less sportier, strange enough...

Something to note about the circle: It can also be changed to a tachometer instead of the ambient light color
Also, the lighting isn't fixed to a set of colors, if you hold down the toggle rather than pressing it and releasing it will begin to cycle through the spectrum and you can stop it wherever between the preset colors.

I’ve driven one of these for the last nine years. Provably one of the best cars I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few. OK I live in Sweden where it’s snowing so the four-wheel-drive is great but in general it drives like a gokart, has plenty of room and never fails to put a smile on my face.
How do you like your mini countryman? I’m thinking about getting a used 2013 Countryman S. I want something unique and I love the style. The backseat is great for my boys to.
@@blue85246 I replaced it with a Mini SE electric about a year ago. Had a few minor problems like the heater fan motor dying and boot latch flaking out but otherwise it was reliable and roomy. I would recommend always going for 16 inch rims if you can. It rides too crashy on 17 and 18s as it is sports car suspension.

If you’re considering a Countryman, you should know that all that hate comes from the internet. I own a late model Cooper S 2-door hardtop with a 6 speed. Although it’s a classic configuration with its 2 doors and a manual, the trolls still hate on it. Unless it’s a first gen new mini or a classic, those trolls won’t be happy.
But remember that you’re going to be driving it in the real world. In reality, the Mini community is welcoming to all Minis. I’m part of one of the largest Mini clubs in the US. Our club members have all kinds of Minis old and new. They are super friendly and they treat me and Countryman owners with love and respect. If you wan to be part of a car club and your life requires you to have a large car, consider this and join us.

Power seats are nice, but I'd definitely forgo them for a better quality interior. I don't move my seat that often, and it's usually faster to do it manually than wait for a little motor to do it for me.

Another fun quirk about the ambient lighting; hold the toggle down for a couple of seconds and you enable kaleidoscope mode. It'll continually rotate through all of the colors of the rainbow.

I own a 2014 F56 Cooper S. Has the same interior setup. Honestly it's not distracting at all, and can be dimmed down or turned off completely. Not really an issue.

That super neat quirky sunroof toggle also becomes the equivalent of a hot curling iron in the summer so that’s fun. I have to use a cloth to touch it to open it.
