Great review as always Thomas, thank you. Have driven this car for a year. The drivetrain can be amazingly frugal. It really is a fun car to drive. Spacious and practical interior layout. Yeah suspension is stiff but it feels stable and safe. Cons: weighs too much, Adaptiv Cruise Control- camera based- malfuntions way too often, maybe comfortwise less than ideal for really long trips. Lack of blind spot safety is just embarrassing at this price point. But all in all we still love our Mini PHEV. Its a character!

Very informative review. My sagegreen Countryman SE is getting born right now, expect to collect it in 5-6 weeks. :) Have been wanting a countryman for so long, and finaly pulled the plug.
Sure, the JWC is quicker, but the plug-in is quick enough and MUCH more economical.

I just ordered one but delivery is delayed due to battery recall. Your video is quite informative, gives good overview of city & highway driving impressions.

A good detailed overview, but I think you missed that battery capacity has been increased to 10KWHr from the original 7.7KWHr.

Really valid point, Tomas! 👍 The Mini - this variant, in particular - should be way more comfortable. Particularly given the vehicle's inflated cost and increased proportions. ✌️😎

Thomas didn't looked very enthusiastic though, some features were omitted but as usual great work.

I ordered one in the beautiful Enigmatic Black with Mini Yours wheels, Mini Yours Trim and full option spec. Delivery planned for week 12 (march 22). Can't wait.
I really like the new countryman and that comes for a guy that likes proper 4x4s. I d love an sd all 4 one, and would gave it an inch suspension lift and an occasional half inch from tires. X raid makes some lifted countrymans in colad with mini and they are the coolest thing
First let me thank you for another excellent review, Thomas. As for the car its beautiful, and yes the seats can be more comfortable if you spec it right and the same goes for the suspension. Smaller 17 inch rims, could be more comfortable. But the price of the car is way to expensive, considering the absense of blind spot, RCA, android auto and a proper hud.

Ordered mine a few weeks ago and waiting for it to arrive in the US. Can't wait! I did get the Iconic, so some of the features are different. The ordering site is not very forthcoming about that ugly yellow plug in..... I hope I'm happy with that!
Didn’t even look at these when we ordered our recently-delivered JCW. Having lived with a hybrid for three years, and coped with the compromises, I prefer to enjoy petrol whilst I can.
Do you save more bill with hybrid? Do you have to pay for the electric charge? Can you charge the battery with the petrol engine only while driving? What's the pros and cons with it? How's your experiences with full electric? If want petrol then get full petrol, if want electric then get full electric right?
@@NetvoTV My hybrid was a Porsche, and I wouldn’t recommend that for a whole load of reasons. Documented on my channel if you’re interested.

With so many gimmicks that MINI builds into its cars, you would expect that the sound of the direction indicator would be adjustable.
It's also interesting that there will be driver profiles who, due to short distances to work / home / the supermarket, will use the electric motor almost exclusively. After several thousand kilometers, it may be that the petrol engine has hardly been used and therefore suffers little to no wear, but the battery is already showing noticeable signs of ageing and deterioation... 🧐

Great review Thomas, thank you. I have a question for you, in your experience in the Countryman, how is the wind noise in the cabin at higher speeds (over 100kph), compared to the competition (Audi Q2, BMW X1)?
Thomas is so tall.. he makes every car looks too small for him. Especially for this “Mini” car
The electric range still not enough and the fuel tank still too small, doesn't quite hit the target for a 2021 phev.
50 kilometres on a turbo charged 4x4 on electric ALONE? i think its enough

Great review. I have the 2019 model - I think you could not enable pure eDrive as it is temporarily disabled for about a minute if you switch from eDrive to combustion for the first time on each journey.
Too stiff and firm, it's a BMW Thomas so I'm not surprised. Tip Top review as always but I'll stick with my XC40 order 👍 Looking forward to the next as always 😊 stay safe.

Hi, Mini is interesting of course but when are you going to review Skoda Octavia RS/Cupra Leon? Waiting eagerly your test on those and also the Octavia/Leon PHEV tests.
I really hope this engine option comes to the BMW 1-series soon. Would be the perfect combo for me (company car driver, emissions are limited at 110g/km).
The X1 phev is identical apart from the body design.
It already does see the BMW X1 phev, body design apart, it’s an identical vehicle and he does mention the comparison he’s done.

I'm looking for comfort, not going off road or towing. Does it make big difference in comfort compared to standard suspension. Thank you

Nice offer in the compact suv market but the seats are by far to stiff and too narrow , providing little confort, mini should consider changing its seats (and leather average quality )

I would rather have a countryman with the older round headlights...
My experience after nearly two months of driving the Countryman SE is that it's not the greatest drivers car. Therefor it is way too heavy first of all. Sure, when both driving trains combined (in sport) it has some interesting punch, but apart from that, this car has nothing to do with dynamic driving. This heavy weight does not provide any good natural driving balance. Then the normal Cooper S is a much better, more agile and more sportive ride.
Does it get more noticeable go kart feeling and fun than X1?
2 engines extra weight… should just have massive starter motor and battery, esp as only has short range

Uighurs sure know how to build good looking cars for BMW. Just a shame they’re forced to work in concentration camps (factories) by the Chinese gouvernement. Will BMW react or will they just look away like the VW group? They sure don’t look in a rush to do anything about it...
