@@OursK85 Neither. I'm actually from Manitoba Canada. I'm sure at some point my ancestors lived in Quebec. But there are quite a few French communities where I grew up.
@@michelinegosselin3879 Yes you are part of the Frenchies and Metis who were deported to west Canada. You probably heard about Denis Riel? My ancestors got deported to Massachusetts with the native tribes who fought alongside the Frenchies after British won over. The Massachusetts was the first state that got Frenchies as cheap labor. Called Acadians and later in Louisiana where Canadian turned to be pronounced Cajun.

Scotty is the one of the reason why i started enjoy learning about cars
I had two Minis (2003 & 2015). I maintained mine and had very few problems given the miles I put on them. Their engines were great. No turbo problems either. Main issue is it’s a small car and crappy roads beat the suspension to death. They are so fun to drive.
I live in Portugal, but I know more about Scotty than I do about my neighbours

Those Mini Cooper cars are in a category of their own ! A good film to watch that uses these cars in a heist is called "The Italian Job". Very cool film that shows how well these cars can navigate the turf.

I've had my 2008 clubman with the "infamous" N14 engine for almost 3 years. Preventative maintenance has kept her running great. Scotty is right, maintenance is the key to these cars.

@@tSp289 I test drove a Fiat 500 out of sheer curiosity. Honestly, it was really boring. It didn't handle particularly well, wasn't very fast, the ride was OK, and it was reasonably comfortable. It wasn't bad per se, just nothing that made me want to buy one. If I want a boring car, I'll at least get something reliable like a Toyota!

100% right Scotty. I've always done light maintenance work on my own beach wagons like change fluids and batteries, alternators, belts, ect. Just constantly staying on top of things that your car needs will keep you from getting massive repair bills down the road.

Glad to see a Mini being seen in a good light. I have a 2007 with the same paint job. I do all the maintenance myself and more frequent than recommended.
@Derek Hall the usual stuff, but I also change the trans fluid at 50k intervals.
Drove a mini when I visited England and I can confirm that they are a blast to drive, especially if it's a standard transmission

Great Scotty. Greetings from England. Love the references you put in. I've owned about 6 original Minis and wish I still had them now. Even wrecks are going for crazy money. I personally wouldn't touch a BMW mini with a barge pole. Each to their own I guess. Expensive to buy and maintain not forgetting their over the top complexity.
I gotta admit, those minis are pretty cool. They’re not quite like the original ones, but they do have a lot of room for their small size.

I miss my mini. I got a 2008 clubman at an auction for 3700 taught my self to drive standard in it and it was so fun. It was on a pricier side to maintain but it was so worth it.
My first manual car is a VW GTI I just bought brand new. I've had it for a few weeks now and really enjoy it. Best time to practice is when the clutch is new too lol. Can't think of a more proper way to break-in the clutch.
@@Dcc357 I felt safer with a used car in case I ruined it but it makes sense learning in a new one. Maybe i will do this when teaching my little brother.

@@user-bx9dd7bd2t I had to teach myself so I had to learn on residential streets where I live. I didn't have anyone to take me to a parking lot. I learned though lol. I will be taking my younger brother to parking a lot for sure.

I absolutely love my MINI's! Have two R53'S one bone stock, other... Became hooked after test driving my first one was surprised how much it felt like a go-kart. Requires more maintenance than a Toyota for sure, but both running strong with over 150k miles each. If you get a R56 change the timing chain tensioner immediately. The original one fail around 110k and motor go bye bye.

That European cars are ok cars if they are taken care because from my experience with seeing friends and family maintaining their VWs, if they are maintained religiously they easily last 200k. But I don't expect 300-400k that can be reached easily by Toyotas and Hondas. There are certainly better cars for long life but I like the fun factor of European cars.

We love our 2010 S clubman convertible! Mini has been the best auto maker to deal with... for us... it’s fast, it’s cool and gets awesome mpg! I always change the oil at 5k, never go over that and you’ll have a blast!
