Owned an Audi Q7. I became a baby sitter for the vehicle. Spent a great amount of time driving to the dealer for service. Computer was a mess, hard acceleration turning left caused a stall. Battery was under the drivers seat in a well. My wallet fell to the floor and bounced into the well. Impossible to retrieve. Called dealership and was told they employed a contortionist mechanic capable of doing the deed. He did but shows how often some such bounce occurred. Worst so called luxury vehicle I ever owned.

I test drove about 3 Ford Focuses and they all had transmission problems. One shuddered under acceleration like it was going to fall apart, another one made a horrible crunching noise and I forget what was wrong with the third one. Then I Googled Ford Focus transmission problems and found out about the inherently fault-prone dual clutch tranny. So I test drove a Mazda3 SP25, it was smooth and quiet and fun to drive. Still have it today, brilliant little car.

I had an Audi A6 3.0T, and the reason I sold it was because the dealer's service team I'd used for 5 years fell away. I had 2 guys I got a long with, and always gave me a break on parts and maintenance. Got a few free oil changes. Always sung their praises. I drove across the country in that car without issue. It's a space ship. After a point though I got new people and it was clear the magic that was there was gone. They charged me 900 to fix a tail light, only to ask for another 2000 to fix the other part for the same issue. Fishing for service charges. Mechanically the Supercharged V6 was great. It went 0-60 in 5.2 and if I trailed on the highway I got 38 mpg one time, normally around 33mpg. It was a nice clean car the whole time I had it, and I would buy it again if I found a better service center. Germans have electrical issues, but that's not unique to audi, that's BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, KTM, all of them. People get audis and then don't service them, then they cry they don't work.

    • @kresstek

    • @masonreppeto882
      @masonreppeto882 9 месяцев назад +4

@@kresstek No, German cars stop working on their own. You don't get to blame lack of maintenance on failing starters and tie rod bearings at less than 100k miles. They are no more reliable than American brands or kia. However, what's sad is kia actually has better reliability than BMW or VW. IF KIA cars weren't freaking death traps, I'd probably drive one if I couldn't get my hands on a Honda. BMW abandoned actual reliability 25+ years ago just like the American brands did.

Audi has 2 big connections under the hood for jump starting, so you don’t need to go to the trunk - only if you’re sure that you’ve got a battery at all. Also on some models there’s still a key hole on the trunk next to the opening switch, so you can open it if the battery totally dies, and the key is hidden in the key fob

Scotty, That beauty cover on the engine you complain about does have
a function. It is there to shield the hood from the high heat of the engine which
over time causes the paint on the hood to fail prematurely. Years ago, instead of the
beauty cover, they used to have an insulation pad attached to the hood which
was usually about a 1" thick piece of fiberglass insulating material.

I've had 4 VWs throughout my life time. All ran extremely well and no major problems, however, I was religious when it came to maintenance and took them to the dealership. More expensive, but in the long run it kept them going. I suspect that most of the Audi horror stories are about used Audis where the previous customers did not want to dish out the money to keep them running properly. The repairs are indeed expensive, but necessary. If you are going to buy a luxury car, you have to prepare for the higher cost of maintenance. If you can't handle that, then go with a VW....but still keep up with the maintenance, it's just less costly.
If you are going to buy a used luxury auto. Don't buy unless you have complete records for maintenance.

Not a single issue yet, consistent oil changes and fluid changes and the car runs perfect so far. Still need to replace my tires though. I can honestly say the Fusion has to be one of the better economy cars Ford has manufactured. I bought a 2017 Focus new, 7 years ago. The dealer had a 5 speed on his lot and I got it cheap. Best car I have ever had, it has a 5 speed transmission made in Germany. The automatic has all the problems. If you can find a cheap used manual Focus, it is a great compact car.

I don't know what they do with the cars but my brother got $10,800 when they bought his car back. It had 105,000 approx. miles. I still have my 2014 Ford Focus and we had the clutches and starter replaced December 2022 with 176,000 miles. It has been a great car other than the clutch replacement. The new transmission is so tight and shifts so good it feels like a brand new vehicle. Engine doesn't burn or leak any oil.

My experiences with Dodge/Chrysler cars built since about 1990 or so is that no matter how much you maintain them or baby them they will still be unreliable and fall apart on you. They just use a lot of cheaply made components. I know people that have owned the 200C and that thing was flagrantly unreliable. Now in case you are one that claims you have one with the 2.4 with 500,000 miles and it's been a jewel to own for one I don't really believe you and two you are the 1 in 1 million that just got very lucky.

A former VAG mechanic told me that within warranty they could only claim x amount of hours labour on a repair. Even if it was not possible to fix the car within that time window.

My 2000 Ford Focus left me stranded twice both times for the same reason. The ignition key got stuck in the ignition and wouldn't turn. First time Ford replaced it for free. Second time I paid through the nose. That was the last time I bought a tin-box-on-wheels from Ford.

A common problem with them. Pretty easy to replace yourself. Just a few screws. Takes 15 minutes.

Yep- 2012 VW GTI with a 2.0T, It was fun but when that timing chain started getting sloppy I took it in to VW to get the tensioner replaced under extended warranty. They said it sounded fine and turned me away. I RAN AWAY from that car before it could go kaboom!

Perhaps put a proper Battery in, and then check the ODB Port for some Information. That can give you some hints about the status of the car in the first place.

    I have a 2008 A4 ----- MANUAL Front Wheel Drive.
Still have it. Burns no oil and gets 500+ miles per tankful. No problems, period.
Yes, it's a PIA to change the oil (cartridge) but that's all.

I own an Audi A3 and it’s been great, smoother than any vehicle I have driven before, good gas mileage. I take care of it so I haven’t had any problems with the vehicle. U can buy a Toyota and never need to do work on it, but it’s also a slower and less smooth ride

I had a 2011 A4 but with a 2.0 TDI. Bought it used from Germany, it was a really good reliable car, had it for 4 years, never had any major issues, swirl flaps threw the check engine light but I got that sorted, other than that not a single problem with the engine.
