I am an instructor... that guy did a whole bunch of stuff that would probably cause him to lose his certs if he was flying in the US. The one thing I'll say in his defense is that I don't know what the rules are in Mexico or that airline's op specs and I suppose it's possible that the flights you took were actually VFR, meaning his course and altitudes might not have mattered that much outside of maintaining terrain clearance and traffic separation. But using his phone while hand flying, filling out paperwork, no hands on the controls as he's on his takeoff roll, I mean lots of stuff looked pretty crazy to me. It's no surprise to me that this plane's been in a runway excursion with this airline.

Now, Look Noel, I'm scared of flying and watching your videos recently has been very calming and even had me thinking of catching a short flight... THEN I SEE THIS!!! ;)
I have often wondered if you had ever gotten on a plane and had second thoughts. I guess this was absolutely one of those occasions.
This was absolutely one of those occasions. Had I not had a connection in Los Cabos I would have just got off in La Paz. I really wasn't happy to continue but didn't really have much choice if I didn't have an onward flight.
@@noelphilips yeah I guess you were stuck with no other options.
If I had a parachute I think I would have took my chances 😂
@@noelphilips Have you considered reporting this to the aviation authorities of some sorts? No more people should be put in possible danger by that pilot/airline.
@@RussianSevereWeatherVideos Dude that was no big deal tbh. Odd? yes. Unsafe? most definitely but did he die? No
Hats off to you on that one Noel That banging noise was the ground staff Kicking the tyres in saying that piolt did give smooth landings Keep safe &keep posting .
On a more business oriented side-note - I wonder how much fuel/money he wastes deviating from the direct flight path again and again? Over time it's gotta add up.
Probably cheaper than fixing the autopilot.
Maybe the deviation is on purpose to drop off some package.
What a way for an airline to communicate with there passengers. WhatsApp. Smh
It's actually quite normal across Latin America and most of the world outside of the US.
Yup. Plenty of businesses use WhatsApp for customer support
@@Nadia1989 In the US, A lot of businesses use FB Messenger and/or Instagram as their sole communications centers these days to conduct business. Whatapp is a bit more developed IMHO.
That's either the last pilot you want in a sticky situation, or *exactly* the guy you want
Almost got shot in Mexico for no reason... crazy
I've also flown with them, from Ensenada to Guerrero Negro, it was certainly a bit hairy. One of our group was sitting next to pilot. She asked if she could hold the control and he let her!
This must be one of the best videos yet. After seeing the pilot, I can totally understand how the airline has had a few accidents. Surely the aviation authorities would do something about it. ✈️
I'm quite familiar with Sonora in general, but even I don't know what's up with those military vans you see on occasion. Just ignore them and they'll leave you alone is what I've found. I hope you got yourself some carne asada while in Sonora.. It's the best in the world!
Even if you have a million USD in full display in your car, you would NOT be in danger. Cartels are NOT interested if you are not messing with them and its territory. But if you were selling even one gram of any illegal stuff in their territory or treating them then I would say that you would've been done. The military unit that you saw with long weapons are to protect the public nothing to fear. Nope I would not get in that flight. But why did you take that flight? if you were in Cd Juarez
My wife is from Hermosillo, Sonora a few hours north of Obregon. Beautiful part of the world!
Noel: Adheres to all regulations, gets reported to CAA.
Mexican Pilot: Regulaciones? ¿Qué regulaciones? No necesitamos regulaciones apestosas aquí, señor.
¿Conoce a mi amigo Don Billetín? (guiño, guiño)
If they guys on cammo are wearing boots, they're probably army, if there's wearing sneakers... Oh well, pray.
The pilot probably flys this route and is getting complacent, never a good sign. I'll bet he's the one that ran off a couple of years back.
13:50 the pilot casually setting takeoff trim whilst on the takeoff roll lol
Thank you for the video and providing us with these excellent content as always. The pilot should be reported and investigated I think. I don't think he should be sacked but extra training needs to be done, particularly in awareness. Someone should monitor him on a regular basis. That is what I would do. Nice video :).
Thank you! Yes I agree I felt kind of bad being so negative, and as a pilot myself I wouldn't wish this guy to suffer but it's clear his priorities were elsewhere that day and some monitoring/training would definitely not go amiss.
@@noelphilips Hi Noel. Being negative is a good thing as you pick out the faults, The trouble is if you don't report it then there maybe consequences I guess? I think training all countries needs to be looked at, especially if you haven't flow for a while. :)
@@noelphilips you can't use your phone whilst driving so surely the same applies whilst flying. I was in a taxi in Greece with a driver on their phone and felt really uncomfortable so goodness knows how I'd feel flying with these guys.
LOL, what dedication you have to all your followers. It's a good job you have no hair. You made me smile whilst watching the review.
Kind regards
DS
The tickets via WhatsApp had me dying 🤣 I'm from Mexico and i haven't heard of this "airline" never in my life but mad props to you for booking a flight and be brave enough to go in that plane, hats off! lol
Ni Primera Plus maneja ese método venta 😂 perro miedo jajaja.
Just found your channel and gotta say you sir have some stones. I would've never been able to fly with some of these airlines.
7:40 I love how he’s not even looking outside as the power is advanced and the aircraft is moving forwards. Ah Mexican aviation.
Noel at 2:49 that truck was actually soldiers just patrolling so no need to be nervous about people like them but so be cautious though
"This must be why Mexicans invented tequila." Dead xD
Great video, but this was a scary one even to watch, Noel.
I don't know anything about aircraft's but enjoy watching shows with planes. I thought that it is suppose to International for the Pilots to always speak English. Maybe I am wrong.
Jesus Christ Noel 😅
My non aviation boyfriend when we watched this video: "What's that notepad for that the pilot has?"
Me: "Ah that's normal, they all use them, they have charts & stuff"
Bf: "No way, he's writing down the gee gees for later"
Me, 10 mins in after the first 40⁰ deviation from the flight path: "...yeah I think ye might be right."
Even though I HATE flying, your channel continues to scare the crap out of me. The bravest man on RUclips! :-)
I thought it was bad before you took off, but it keeps getting more uncertain by the minute
2:48 those people are soldiers who guard the accesses of Ciudad Obregon you would not have to fear. 11:30 those dc 9 are from the defunct airline based in peace Aerocalifornia but today there is another regional airline based in peace called Calafia Airlines and they have embraer 120 and 145 in their fleet. It is a much better option than Aero Guerrero, which is a very small airline based in the town of Guerrero Negro. Greetings!
Noel you should have kindly asked him to be his copilot and watch the instruments lol he seemed distracted. Great video but very scary
I have some flight sim experience, plus one whole discovery flight under my belt; If I had thought of it I would have made that offer to him, especially after seeing the plane go off course. At least he stuck the two landings . . .
Or ask how long you been a pilot?
The most special video I have seen from you so far. That drink was well deserved!
The air pod pilot
2:37 he was expecting a more dance like song. Had to switch up his dance real quick LMAO 😂
Did you notice that the airspeed indicator was in red on the final?
Well, he said "redline descent". So he must habe noticed it
Quality. Thanks Noel. Always great/creative content.
‘Redline descent’ actually spat my drink out laughing 😂
The cat is the best thing in this!
We used to have a local cat. In our ferry terminal.. she lived near by & started to come there. She soon learned when ferrys would be comming in, she knew that ment people & attention 😅
