Owen..as a retired airline Capt who came up via GA flying, turboprops and then heavy iron, I like the way you handle yourself and the aircraft you fly. Please consider a little CFI work on the side. You’re a great example and aviation could use young, experienced pilots like yourself teaching the new generation. Fly safe!

I like your attention to detail. Excellent airmanship and judgment. I am a retired airline pilot with 54 years of flying experience including Fighter jets (A7-D Corsairs), Safety Chairman at my last Airline job. Retired from the A-330 200/300 International. You do a great job, very professional. Keep these videos, many new pilots will benefit. I still do.

Good video. I only did one aircraft ferry, in '79. I was a CFI in Southern California and was begging my Boss to let me do a ferry. Leasebacks were very popular back then, for tax reasons, so many rich folks were buying small planes then that wouldn't have been otherwise. He usually used pilots who had standby airline privileges in order to keep costs down. My day came, deadhead to Lock Haven PA to pick up a brand new Piper Tomahawk from the factory and ferry it back to SoCal.
I later realized that the reason I was assigned the flight was that no one else wanted to fly a Tomahawk cross country in March! The trip took about 29 hours and I learned a lot along the way.

I flew into San Jose, CA regional airport back in 1979 at the age of 20. It was my first time in a single engine Cessna. I was hooked. Your video is simple but impressive. It gives viewers a visceral feel for the similarities and differences of both types of prop planes...All the way to the clothing necessities.

I helped N988JG get off the runway in March of 2018 after a hard landing. The two Navy guys had borrowed it for Bonanza Society flight training and wrecked it. When I asked how hard they said both headsets flew off their heads! At that point the flat tire turned into a jammed right strut, wrinkled fuselage, wrinkled wing. It was a banger. It’s good to see it flying again.

Humble yet inspiring are rare traits these days, yet you consistently demonstrate both in every video you make. The days of piston cabin class twins are well behind us so thank you for showing us a bit of the great days of GA in the 70s-80's, when beauties such as these two aircraft rolled off the assembly lines in the hundreds! Thank you for you Owen....

Those 421C's are maintenance nightmares but they're absolute beasts. I work in a maintenance shop and we have a couple we service. My CFI ended up flying one of them as a corporate pilot for a local company, and after we'd done some maintenance he invited me to come along with him for a short test flight so I punched out for lunch and tagged along. He took the takeoff and landing of course but handed me off the controls in the right seat for the whole rest of the flight including an approach in IMC. Made me feel like a real pilot! Those engines are fire breathing demons though. When doing maintenance ops checks and power runs on the ground in the early morning or late afternoon when the days are short, you can actually see the turbochargers glowing through the cowl vents.

This reminds me of the time I used to fly out of Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose. I was working on my CPL at the time. On Memorial Day weekend 1988, I flew a 100 HP Grumman AA-5A Cheetah from San Jose to El Paso, TX and back. I decided to surprise my aunt who lived in El Paso. It was a long 7 hour flight (total flight time one way) over the desert in Arizona and New Mexico. I stopped in Gila Bend, AZ to refuel coming and going. I also stopped at Fox Field in Lancaster, CA on the way back. It was quite the adventure.

Back in the 80's a friend had a gig flying (rented aircraft) bank checks (PM flights) from San Deigo to Burbank. He hooked up with six other pilots and they had a flop house (apartment) in Burbank for RON's. If I remember correctly take off around 6PM with load of checks, land in Burbank and hand them off, RON and back to San Deigo for another load. He did the a few days a week for extra money and flight time, I think it was also a full time Fri, Sat & Sun gig.

That's very exciting Owen being completely honest. I'm in the process of potentially getting to attend ATP flight school. I'm also in the process to see if the Air Force is a possibility for me. I also heard if I go the ATP route that there have been graduates who have gotten hired by the Air Force. There's also so many options to get to do in the aviation world as a pilot. I think it'd be cool to have my own aircraft in the future if I could.

You look so relaxed in the ferrying mode, I would imagine not having the pressure of flying the gulfstream or the Italian stallion it's kind of a break for you. I noticed when taking off in the Golden Eagle you were trimming down by hand, is that because the electric trim is perhaps too slow or too fast? Just curious about that. Anyway, looking forward to your next trek! have a great day, keep the wind at your back!❤❤❤❤

Well educated pilot smooth, calm and cool as a cucumber. Enjoying your videos.

Another great video, thanks for sharing - wish you would do a short intro to the plane when you fly a new one though, unless it's for privacy (of the owner) sake of course. Keep up the great work 👌🏽 both pilot wise and video production wise 💪🏽

Awesome brother. We have a 421C and a Cherokee 6-300. I did all my instrument rating in Santa Teresa Las Cruces. Lived at Cielo Dorado for a year and a half so I know that area like the back of my hand. Great place to fly. Nice job nice video! You got a new subscriber in me!

Great video as always Owen! Beautiful airplanes. I bet on that 4 hour plus flight back that pee cup got full especially with all the bouncing up and down 😅. Keep them amazing videos coming.

Another pilot who's videos I enjoy is a ferry pilot named Guido Warneke. He is also a very professional and precise flyer. You might enjoy seeing one or two of his deliveries to places all over the world.

When I did my 2nd solo XC in flight school I flew into Las cruces. Turns out the Navy was training pilots in the T38 that day. They were stressing me out 😂

Surprised you still use the same headset for piston travel. Is the active cancellation sufficient? Is it the comfort that makes it worth it? Would you talk about your headset, what you do/don't like? Your radio work is top notch.
