When you got the invite to the flight deck taking off from an airport like that, i literally shouted out loud "You lucky bastard!" what an amazing opportunity! PIA seem absolutely fantastic despite having a bad safety reputation and its good to see they are really putting the work in to get back to world class standard. Couldn't help but think ATC were taking the piss reminding them to lower the landing gear!
It's very common throughout Pakistan because Pakistan has a history of gear up landings - in the 80s when a PIA 747-200 landed at Islamabad without their landing gear and then recently with the PIA A320 crash in Karachi
@@SuiGenerisAbbie it is illegal everywhere some disasters happened in the past the last time a plane crashed in Russia because the captain invited his son and daughter into the cockpit just to show them their great papa's work and that plane crashed into the ground. then it was banned for the cabin crew to invite any passenger to enter the cockpit
One of the biggest smiles I've seen on Noel's face and totally understandable considering the amazing opportunity to see that scenery from a one-of-a-kind vantage point. While I have never been on the flight deck during a flight, I have had the opportunity to interact with pilots, and I am certain they love to share their enthusiasm with enthusiastic travelers. Thank you for taking us along and for showing examples of the true kindness that exists.
It's a sad testament to the post 9/11 world, as a kid and even in my early 20s I would be able to go into the cockpit. One of the coolest times was flying over the red center of Australia on a Virgin 747 as the sun rose, absolutely beautiful. Such a shame my kids will never get the same chance.
I got kind of emotional the moment you were allowed in the cockpit!🥺😊 what a moment of happiness, just wow. And through the entire video all the Pakistani people just look so friendly and talkative, so kind and hospitable. This place just looks incredible. I felt like I was on a mini holiday watching this video😁 Greetings from the Netherlands!❤️🤗
All the best to PIA and Pakistan. Truly went above and beyond there. And even the down to earth genuineness of the people including the soldiers at Skardu who got a kick out of a guy randomly flying in only to fly back out. Awesome!
Ya dude that was awesome! I’m Pakistani myself, I’m proud of the crew for the air treatment of a guest! Btw I’m training in the Bay Area, right under the San Francisco class bravo
I remember flying PIA once when I was a kid. I still remember the entire flight; the food was great, the attendants were extremely caring, and I even got to meet the pilots and see the cockpit at the end of the flight! Truly one of the best memories I have ever had. I'm glad I could relive some of those memories through your video. Thank you Noel!
WOW! This strangely has been quite an emotional video. The crew and the airport staff were super nice and I am sure they have made Pakistan proud. This has to be your best every video. Thanks Noel for this
Plz come to Northern Pakistan during summer and stay at Shangrila resort and serena hotel near Skardu Airport. There is a place called Hunza where literacy rate is 95% and due to nature living the life expectancy is 120 years
Above in the skies yet their love and affection, and kindness so down to the earth. This is the real Pakistan people need to know. So glad and thankful to you Noel for the experience. I need to make plans to visit Pak soon ❤
This is an absolute generosity from the crew to go extra mile to accommodate an ordinary passenger; I am super amazed by the kindness and hospitality of Pakistan. You are indeed a fortunate man to be treated so special. It was indeed a trip worth millions.
This is my favourite video you’ve ever done honestly stunning absolutely stunning. Pakistan and it’s people are so wonderful and kind and I myself am visiting from my home near London . What a country and the hospitality is second to none ,
That was incredible. Amazing how friendly the crew is. I think our media does a disservice to these people because I have a whole new outlook on that part of the world. Congrats on that once in a lifetime experience in the flight deck.
Have to say, any interactions I've ever had with people from Pakistan has been really nice and a proud nation, always helpful and treat you do well. This shows in this incredible upload.
One of the most amazing videos yet Noel. Being from the U.S. at times our opinions of other countries are obscured by media and world events, but personally you have completely changed my opinion of Pakistan and traveling to this amazing country some day if possible. Wonderful people and the flight crew on PIA who I never would have considering flying with before gave you a once in a lifetime experience riding jumpseat. I recently took a trip up to the Delta Museum of Flight in Atlanta and booked a Delta 767-300. The captain invited me up to the flight deck and allowed me to sit jumpseat right until we pushed back, but with FAA regulations in the states these day he just could not allow me to stay during the flight. He and his first officer where just great and we chatted for over 30 minutes on the flight deck of a 33 year young 767 it was almost as cool as being in flight but not quite. Very happy for you that you had this experience !! Keep up the amazing work !
@@MrBibi86 Can't afford them, probably ... Freedom of movement, as long as one does not leave the country. Is there more to see outside the USA ? (Opinion of some inhabitants for lack of geography knowledge).
I was crying when I saw they let you on the flight deck. I've done it twice myself (being a fellow AV geek, on a 767 and an A340). I'm so happy for you. What a beautiful part of the world. On my bucket list!
The flight crews, ground staffs, the people, the military and the view are all very impressive indeed. You all should be proud, Pakistani! I am happy for you all.
Absolutely highest praise to the flight crew; PIA is tops in my book. I was nearly in tears when you found out you got to fly on the flight deck. Such an honor, so awesome to share with us. Thank you PIA and Noel.
I can't think any avgeek RUclipsr more deserving of the privilege of riding in the cockpit as a guest. Incredible views and such warm people, from the ground staff to the flight attendants to the pilot and FO.
This has to be one of my favorite videos from you Noel. The PIA crew were amazing, yoy could see their passion and professionalism and they saw it in you. What an amazing adventure and experience, and thank you for taking us along. Always look forward to new content from you, keep up the great work!
Omg Noel!! Can’t believe the pilots let you enjoy sitting in the flight deck jump seat for your return trip. Absolutely amazing. How hospitable are the PIA crew. Well done‼️ And another brilliant vlog 😀
*Mann ! What these PIA Pilots did was downright unprofessional n illegal ! Its against the Aviation Rules but Pakistan being Pakistan… ask any Aviator (I am from the family of Aviators Military - Civil both) Gora crazy folks can do just ABOUT ANYTHING* 😊
This is such an amazing experience. I welled up when they allowed you into the cabin. I remember that fondly as a child being allowed up. Such a shame that the world is in such a mess that it isn’t usually allowed anymore. How wonderful!
The cockpit is the worlds best workstation. To be invited on to the flight deck was an almost unheard of honour. The view was beyond amazing. The work involved to build the roads in that terrain. And the views of both the mountains and the rivers flowing from them. A slightly different view to a take off from Gamston then over flying Retford and the mighty river Idle and the Chesterfield canal. I was born and raised in Retford. Took my first flights from there. Many happy memories both from there and from what became Doncaster airport back when it was still an RAF base. The closure of that airport was a tragic end of an era. To look back Gamston had Hurricane night fighters protecting Sheffield. Doncaster had Polish Lancaster bomber crews during the war, later Vulcan bombers during the Cold War
Wow... Good on them to offer you this ride in the cockpit... Not to mention that it was a PIA flight where they'd be more pedantic towards security, it makes it even more special. Kudos to you and to them for making this happen and sharing it with us.
I remember I used to fly a lot as a kid having divorced parents and the amount of cockpits I got to see was amazing. I really didn't grasp how cool it was as a kid. that obviously changed after 9/11. I'm kicking myself now that I didn't appreciate it more as a kid
as an Indian living in gulf..i have lot of Pakistani friends..love to visit this place once everything become normal. Great gesture from PIA captains..
Holy moly, what a flight! This is why you're my favourite aviation geek! This has instantly become my favourite video of yours, overtaking your 'Around the world in 80 hours' trip. If you filmed the entire flight, you should put that up on RUclips; I'll bet a lot of people would watch that.
Noel, I am an expatriate from Pakistan now living in California, I have never seen any video with such genuine love from both you and the people of Pakistan you interact with. The Captain, first officer and rest of the FA were all so appreciative of your dedication to aviation. Thank you for making this video, this is not just a aviation geek video but also portrait of how travel, love and respect can change the world. Bravo my friend!
I only flew to Skardu once, back in the early 1980's on a fokker F27, was incredible! On the return leg after a week, we took the very first jet engined flight out on a 737, both PIA of course. Its a pity you didnt show K2 on the way back from the flight deck, or the Tarn i recall closeby to K2 (cant remember the name). Thank you, it really brought back wonderful memories!
Skardu, and Baltistan in general, are perhaps the most stunning places one can go. I spent many weeks with the wonderful people up there and was so incredibly happy to see such a wonderful place highlighted on your channel!! Thank you for boosting the profile of Pakistan and Baltistan as more than what is portrayed by the media at-large.
Noel, that was a delightful report and a marked contrast to that "service with a snarl" you encountered elsewhere recently. The beautiful clear weather made for a far less stressful flight for the pilots to avoid those mountains (or as aviators call them in poor visibility "granite clouds"). The kindness and hospitality of the Captain to invite you up to the flight deck will be a treasured memory of yours I'm quite sure. Safe journeys.
That's incredible! I remember the days when you used to be able to go in cockpits and speak to the pilots, something like this would never happen in The West nowadays. What a fantastic experience.
iys not just about the crew u can watch alot of vlogers are travelling to pakistan at the end they amazed by the hospitality of the people its in our blood to treat our guest even if we don't have anything to serve we just won their hearts by our acts.
I am not from Pakistan and never been there but I watch a lot of travel documentaries and I am always baffled by the level of hospitality, generosity and kindness of this country. I hope to go there one day.
That was one hell of an experience Noel! What a truly amazing flight and cabin crew and even the security guys at Skardu obviously getting a kick out of seeing a crazy English guy out on a jolly. Thank you for bringing us for the ride too. It's awesome what a combined love of aviation can do to bring people together
This has to be one of my favourites so far, absolutely stunning scenery and friendly people, I really hope you go back there in a different season just to see how different it'll be. Top marks to the crew and the people at Skardu.
Let's not forget the check-in agent at Skardu who went out of his way to suggest a better seat for better views. That's exceptionally attentive. But yes for such a misrepresented, frequently unfairly viewed part of the world, I'm glad to see positive feedback in the commments for a change.
Such a shame you couldn't stay - it's a stunningly beautiful part of the world. I too have been given that special treatment on the flight back from Skardu to Islamabad - although it was a hell of a long time ago now. The courtesy and friendliness of the PIA staff will always stay in my heart. Hope you get the chance to go back there some day!
That was easily your best video, Noel. Your excitement throughout the trip was infectious. What a marvellous place it was to visit and the kindness you were shown by all the Pakistanis was superb to see.

In the US, it is illegal to invite any passengers up to the flight deck.
Better safe than sorry!
@@AhmadNaveedKhan1996 Crazy how they allowed that. They wont be allowed back into Europe any time soon
@@NobodyExpectsIE there's always hope
Wow! the view from that cockpit was amazing. Thanks for sharing this journey my friend, really enjoyed watching this.
Thanks Noel for this
Agreed 👍
100% agreeing! Noel’s K2!

Wow, Noel. What a beautiful gesture from the PIA pilots! I bet you will remember this for the rest of your life. It must have been spectacular.
Have to say, any interactions I've ever had with people from Pakistan has been really nice and a proud nation, always helpful and treat you do well. This shows in this incredible upload.
lol
What an AWESOME thing to do for you, Noel! Looks like you had a fab day. Cheers, mate!
Keep up the amazing work !
you are heartily welcome here in pakistan
But must stay at least one week to enjoy stunning beauty of Skardu, Gilgit and Hunza as well as great hospitality of the people of that amazing areas.
The problem is less than 20% of Americans hold passports
@@MrBibi86 Can't afford them, probably ... Freedom of movement, as long as one does not leave the country. Is there more to see outside the USA ? (Opinion of some inhabitants for lack of geography knowledge).
Bro Northern people are the sweetest people with beautiful hearts like sceneries and the USA used to bomb these people and kill their families.
Those views on takeoff from the cockpit, just amazing.
Wow, thank you!
Omg Noel!! Can’t believe the pilots let you enjoy sitting in the flight deck jump seat for your return trip. Absolutely amazing. How hospitable are the PIA crew. Well done‼️
And another brilliant vlog 😀
I think it used to be possible some time ago in Europe as well. only after some accidents they changed the laws@@AAg11805
People of Pakistan are so kind and lovely, love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
This is such an amazing experience. I welled up when they allowed you into the cabin. I remember that fondly as a child being allowed up. Such a shame that the world is in such a mess that it isn’t usually allowed anymore. How wonderful!
Oh Noel. I'm actually in tears here. Spectacular views and the lovely crew and airport staff 😢

Thank you so much for excellent comments Amit Gupta Sir
I remember I used to fly a lot as a kid having divorced parents and the amount of cockpits I got to see was amazing. I really didn't grasp how cool it was as a kid. that obviously changed after 9/11. I'm kicking myself now that I didn't appreciate it more as a kid
That guard took it really well, he was having a good laugh. Super friendly people there. Nice one
As an AV geek this was so incredibly cool to see. From the mountains to the cockpit. Great video Noel. My favorite one so far.
Glad you enjoyed it!
as an Indian living in gulf..i have lot of Pakistani friends..love to visit this place once everything become normal.
My God, the view is out of this works, !!! Kudos to the captain and airlines. I'm interesting enough for me to want to go there. This was epic Noel.
This is amazing!! What an extraordinary crew! What an extraordinary COUNTRY! I cannot wait to visit it someday!

Noel, your positive outlook and kindness to others comes back to you, and 'lands' you in some epic situations. Well done.
That's incredible! I remember the days when you used to be able to go in cockpits and speak to the pilots, something like this would never happen in The West nowadays.
What a fantastic experience.
That view when the pilots lined up to take off. Absolutely amazing!
That trip was just epic. The crew and people were brilliant, helpful and interested in what you were doing. What a great day
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING POSITIVE SIDE OF OUR COUNTRY ❤️
As an indian i am impressed by the beauty of the place . And man the captain calling a random foreigner on the jump seat is just awesome.
How incredible! The crew on that flight was so generous, and to be able to fly in the jump seat...what an unbelievable experience!
It really does bring a tear to the eye when humans are being nice to each other... Well done all...... Great flight.
iys not just about the crew u can watch alot of vlogers are travelling to pakistan at the end they amazed by the hospitality of the people its in our blood to treat our guest even if we don't have anything to serve we just won their hearts by our acts.

This has to be one of my favourites so far, absolutely stunning scenery and friendly people, I really hope you go back there in a different season just to see how different it'll be. Top marks to the crew and the people at Skardu.
Well done PIA
That’s the spirit, you are world class. You just have to show it every time you fly
Glad you enjoyed it!
You want to visit Pakistan? I will be your host, if you want?
Wow 😮 that has to be one of your best videos ever! What an incredible opportunity you enjoyed. The people of Pakistan are renowned for their friendliness and warm welcome but that was a different league altogether. I hope you get to go there again soon and show us around without having to rush back to avoid the weather. Probably the best £260 you’ve ever spent!
Hi Noel. Wow, wow and another wow. I loved the ride with you to Skardu specially for the inbound back to OPIS in the cockpit of the A320. I could not hold my tears of joy. I must admit this made me VERY jealous of you, but at the same time I am very happy for you from another aviation geek here with the same dreams. Well done!!! Keep the good work!!! 🤩
Thank you for your kind words!
I bet you were feeling blessed by the captain and his first officer to allow you to see the mountains from the pilot's perception .. thank you for sharing the gorgeous scenery with us! loved it!!!
