Moc dobry video. I have a couple of questions: you mentioned it's not a full GPS and it requires a phone for re-routing. Does this apply for a GPS signal in general, or only to reroute? - Will it work in map mode with a preset route and no phone connection? - Also, can you plan a new route while you are riding? So, for instance, you're riding and suddenly you decide to end your ride and just go to the nearest town and take the train. Will you be able to do that while still in record mode? - Is the display always lit up? Or does it light up automatically based on the amount of light outside? - Are the maps free? Thanks for the video! I am thinking of this device, at the moment I use Lezyne MINI GPS, and I am starting to have problems, with constantly disconnecting from phone, and reconnecting. So I am thinking of ELEMNT BOLT :)

Ahoj, vdaka za super informacie. Prosim ta, ak nemam zadanu ziadnu trasu z mobilu, vie to zobrazovat mapu severom hore? Niekedy nepotrebujem vyslovene navigaciu, len vidiet par ulic okolo, nakolko to zhruba mam v oku. Ak sa to vsak otaca so smerom jazdy, nevyznam sa v tom. Vdaka!
Is it possible to see the map on the device while not navigating? Assume I'm on the ride, the device is not navigating but only recording. At some point I would like to see where I am. Will the device show my current position on the map? Thanks.
hey mate, are you happy with it? Was it worth the price? All good with your unit? I'm planning on buying one to, but mostly due to mapping (no need "full gps" only gpx tracking). Is it ok on unpaved roads, and with forests? The alternatives are etrex 25/wahoo elment - latter is around 24% more expensive than lezyne and etrex.
I am very happy, still working great, they improved a lot since then by software updates ... with a gps is a little tricky specialy on unpaved roads, but if you plan your route by yourself it does a good job, most of the time i used gps on my road bike to be honest ... it’s up to you :) but my advice, is to have healthy expectations. More comerce unpaved route gonna be, higher possibility of good navigation.

I've bought it :) me personally i have mixed feelings - in general it is a good unit, not as good as Garmin, but it's cheaper, so that's ok. i've ridden ~300k now with this GPS and had two issues 1. Loss of GPS signal and no error message about that whatsoever 2. Once map just froze, the grade filed showed me -1800% LOL. I had to save ride and restart GPS to unfroze the map screen. Other than that it's ok. I only wish it would show us the height profile of the created route.
Hi. You did great review. So far the best one I saw about Mega XL. I wanted to ask you a question. Is it possible to use Mega Xl to navigate the roote from another app apart from Lezyne app? For example can i find a root on Komoot, and then just export it to a GPS unit or does it always has to be started from Lezyne app? Thanks in advance!
Great question, if you do some research on they website, you’ll find they started coop work with komoot as well, i don’t have this experience but I would try to contact they customer support, I am sure you will get possitive answer about it :) I used to download route from komoot and upload it on lezyne, but it propably more shared now.

The Buttons wear out after a year and a half use and Lezyne dont want to help with fixing it ... plus if the lugs break ... can use a garmin mount to fix

I have been using the LEZYNE MEGA C for 18 months. It is a very complete meter in terms of functionality. Unfortunately for 1 month, my battery discharges itself when the counter is reached!?! I haven't been able to reset it yet. Michaël from France

Xl ma dlhsiu vydrz baterie, je to kvoli farebnemu zobrazovaniu v C verzii alebo kvoli comu? Resp v com, prosim, vidis vyhody C verzie oproti XL. Chcem si kupit navigaciu, chodim dlhsie trate, casto sama, nebavi ma zakazdym zastat, vytiahnut mapu a hladat cestu, stracam tak cas. A obcas nervy :-)) Mohol by si mi, prosim, poradit? A tiez ci je Lezyne lepsi ako napr Garmin Edge Explore, cenovo rozdiel cca 50 EUR, vydrz baterie 12 hod, co staci, nerobim maratony... displej ma Garmin plne farebny. Resersujem slovenske aj zahranicne recenzie, ale skor som z toho dopletena...na garmin na instagrame napr nadavaju, ze system casto pada a data sa neulozia. Ako je to pri Lezyne? Pada system? Ak ano, uchovaju sa data? Tu mapu musim zakazdym natiahnut do navigacie, ci si to uklada do pamate? Chapem, ze pri novej trase to musim nanovo zadat, ale ak chcem ist tu istu trasu po istom case, bolo by vyhodne si ju len najst v tej gps navigacii a tym usetrim cas planovanim trasy. Bibiana ahoj Bibiana, velmi ma tesi prva otazka v slovencine :) skratim to len na nasledovne : ak chces vyuzivat funkciu obrateneho displeja , tak mega xl, ja som to nikdy nevyuzil a preto by som siel do mega C aby tam bolo par farieb na displeji, co sa tyka baterie, potrebujes vydrz min. 20hod ak sa bavime o kvalitnom zariadeni, pre mna osobne je 10 hod malo ak ides raz rocne na nejake sustredenie. Co sa tyka gps funkcie, potrebujes mobil na prepocet tras atd. Ale mapy ma v pameti zariadenie. Ziadnu extra baterku to z mobilu nezerie, system uplne stabilny , zo 100 jazd sa mi pokazil dva krat barometer ale po restarte bol zas ok, lezyne odporucam na 100 %, su uzastni a skutocne pre cyklistov ;)

Bez mobilu ti mapy zobrazi ale nezadas trasu.

Ja pouzivam GPSies.com kde si naklikam trasu co chcem ist a idem bez telefonu. Ak zmeskas odbocku, zobrazuje akurat ako si od nej daleko. Aj vidis celkovo ako si mimo od tej naplanovanej trasy. Vtedy ked chces aby ti urobil nanovo vypocet treba telefon na to nove preroutovanie.
So this thing uses phone GPS and basically acts as a simple screen for your phone? And it costs $250? Nice features, but it seems like abit of a scam. You're paying for an overlay/display device and not self contained device.
It has build in GPS. You only need to pair your phone for rerouting. It is a standalone device for collecting ride data and navigation (following a preplanned route). Kind of strange calling out a scam when you do not know the basics of a product. However, there are better gps units available for a similar price or just a bit more. I owned one of their older devices five years ago and the lugs broke after less than two years so I couldn't mount it any more. Bought a device from Wahoo and thought I should have gotten it in the first place. Great grandma used to say: Buy cheap, buy twice. She was right.
James Gleave thanks for a question. In that case you will not be able to use gps navigation, but you will be able to use every other function and also see maps if you download it through your PC.

Yes for sure, with no special route added to your aplication, device will show you just map with north at the top of your screen.

Yes, but only through the phone, and to download it to the phone you need your PC to download gpx to the lezyne web site.

Not sure why this is called "map support", there are no street/road names displayed, what kind of "map" is that?
Did you put into the GPS the coffee shop address or did you create the route?
you can just put adress, like regular gps, or create route for specific ride.
is this model at a good price a good option now in 2021? or is there a better device the same price? Thanks

When it was new, it last 32 hours, but after 6 months the battery last 9 hous
