I don’t care what genre of music you like, this guy is so talented you have to enjoy this song for the musical talent that is magically flowing through his fingers. I have to admit I have always enjoyed this song never heard it played like this. WOW!
THANK YOU FOR POSTING !!! Doyle is quite the showman! He's good, and he know it! He does everything the way you've always wished it could sound like! He came to GraceWorks Church, in Chattanooga, TN., and took over our service, when our pastor was out sick. He provided the live music, and his daughter sang a few songs. In my own personal opinion, there is no one better on the Grand Ole' Opry ! He certainly has his own style! He plays his own back-up, his own second string, and, of course, lead guitar...and he puts it all together seamlessly! He's a mild mannered man, soft spoken, but not someone to under estimate! There's NO BETTER out there! Thanks Doyle!
Every time this guy plucks a string, it vibrates at a frequency in tune with the rest of the guitar. It takes great skill over many years to achieve this kind of perfection.
Doyle, Missed seeing you & hearing your fabulous unique DD fingerstyle these past 4 years! No one can play this tune as well as you do! Grandpa Jones would be so proud of you! ☆☆☆☆☆
9/7/2022 I first heard Doyle way back in 1989, when I went to church one Sunday evening, expecting sermon and he played a concert instead. We got a sermon alright, a musical one that I still remember. Don't be deceived, Doyle practiced that tune for a long time before playing it like he did here. You don't play like that, with your eyes closed, off the top of your head, and then repeat it "cut" time.
Doyle is absolutely amazing on guitar, and is a great guy as well. I've met him a time or two at CAAS in Nashville. He is a close friend of Wes Crider, who is also my buddy. Love to hear him play. Ron
I never heard of this man... But now I did.. And I feel my musical interest just kicked up a notch.. Dang, he's excellent.. Thank you for uploading this...
Saw this guy and met him when he was representing Taylor guitars at my local music store In Manchester England. He arrived with Bob Taylor one time. Best acoustic guitars ever. Absolutely phenomenal player and also has a very talented daughter called Hayley.
I'm from Cornwall in the UK..... what a Master of his craft!!!! God bless you Doyle and the years of dedication you must have put into becoming the Master. (And, by the way I love the tribute to Chet documentary). Our world needs more of you.....
I play this song almost the same way except not at the fast speed Doyle likes to roll too.. It's actually really to play this song with tuning like this. Another cool tune of his is called The Tennessee Stomp, it's the first song from him that I learned.
I saw him many years ago when he made a personal appearence at a local music store, then on main st. In downtown Fairhope, sponored by Gretch guitars. Fabulous!
I came here because Eric Johnson mentioned him in an interview. When I first was looking for my Taylor in 1994, I remember his name on a Taylor guitar. I wonder what happened. This guy is fantastic!
god has definitely blessed Doyle with an unbelievable Talent for the guitar. He is absolutely awesome I love to hear him and Tommy Emmanuel play .both unbelievable players. god bless.
Saw him in person in Chattanooga, TN. Unbelievable talent and a wonderful man. He sold a lot of Taylors and now will help Fender move that Guild line for sure...
Michael Paul I hope to hear him play the Guild live soon. I couldn't tell a huge difference on video. I am a Taylor fanatic so I hated to see him and Taylor part.
Wow! The only thing as good as his play is that great grin he gets.....He seems like he'd have a great soul as part of the whole unbelievable package.....Fantastic player...no doubt about it!
Truely great guitar. Also great camera work to let us enjoy seeing doyle play and entertain instead of machine gun jumping around in an attempt to make the video the star and take away from the music.
I liked the cute smiling girl in the background, shielding her eyes from the light to get a better view when he turned to his right as he sped up. I'd bet that even at NAMM he was underappreciated, perhaps only marginally recognized, and was probably the most technically proficient as well as the most sonically appealing player there. I first heard Doyle about two years ago, and my somewhat uncharacteristic presumptions about what to expect based on the thumbnail for the video I saw were absolutely flattened within seconds. Doyle is magnificent. As others here are saying, he's in an elite group of players who I could listen to at great length with a smile on my face, frozen with an enrapt sense of awe.
Oh yes... the cute ones will stand around for this level of talent, no doubt. Now in my world.. While it's true my band does have 'groupies'... unfortunately they all belong to A.A.R.P. :(
The girl with the striped robe on the right side is cute but looks like the typical musician’s girlfriend, so uninterested and bored by the magic of the music itself. Reminds me my ex-girlfriend actually. The blonde on the left is much more enthusiastic. That is my choice!
I want to see a Video of Doyle Playing /Singing the Song " Down in the Caribbean " Love that Song ! also He wrote a song called "Reality " (so much More than fantasy) .

In 2009 I saw Doyle. His playing and his humility got to me. After the show he gave me a thumb-pick and I still have it.
Best rendition I've ever heard! The hair on my neck wont sit down! Awesome
Love this Guy so down to earth and a world class musician.

When I think I've heard the best guitar picker, then along comes Doyle Dykes.
Every time this guy plucks a string, it vibrates at a frequency in tune with the rest of the guitar. It takes great skill over many years to achieve this kind of perfection.
I'm watching Doyle playing right now at my church (Church at Argyle) in Duuuuuval!! Great talent!!

Extraordinary; to be able to meld astonishing technique with genuine musicality is a rare gift.
Man, I can’t believe I get ‘goose bumps’ listening to this. WOW!!!
Hot’DAMN!! That was like Chet, Jerry Reed and Tommy Emanual all rolled into one! Super talented hombre! Bless his heart....
I play this song almost the same way except not at the fast speed Doyle likes to roll too.. It's actually really to play this song with tuning like this. Another cool tune of his is called The Tennessee Stomp, it's the first song from him that I learned.

Saw him in Tyler, Texas many years ago……such a nice guy.
I’ve watched this countless times and it still blows my mind when he speeds up

Doyle has sparked a new desire in me to play,Chet's not gone,he live's through Doyle.
Doyle's playing is off the charts. Can't wait to hear him play in person again.
No pun intended? LOL
Pure Magic. Love this tune. Incredible guitarpickin.
Lovable dude and talent!
What a great entertainer, he is just so natural but you can see and hear what a pro he is
Looking forward to seeing Doyle at NAMM 2016!
I noticed that he played a 'homage' lick to 'Bashful Brother Oswald' around the 1:30 mark. Amazing version ❤️
I haven't watched doyle for a while, amazing!
Wow. This dude just blew my mind
HALLUCINANT !!! Bravo ! Bravo ! Bravo ! Bravo ! BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!
Both of these guys are great!
Doyle says - "Don't laugh - that's what got me on the Grand Ole Opry".
best $10 seeing him live best I have seen in my life, if I could get to his level then I could finally say I can play guitar
wish I could play my guitar half the way he does. marvelous!!!
if you play it half the way he does you'd be one of the best
Easily done - just take your guitar and cut off 3 strings. HAHAHAHAH Get it? Half the way.......oh never mind.
I've seen him in person. He's REAL ! Accomplished puts it mildly. The guy's GOOD !
You sure can pick. Gets my old feet tapping. Love it to no end.🎉🎉🎉🎉
Absolutely brilliant !
When you talk about guitar greats, do not leave this guy out.
At one with his guitar. A beautiful thing it is.

rtgray7 Have to say of all the Guild performances I've seen, I much prefer how he sounds on a Taylor.
Michael Paul I hope to hear him play the Guild live soon. I couldn't tell a huge difference on video. I am a Taylor fanatic so I hated to see him and Taylor part.
Guild......niiice.
His playing.....excellent.
That is pure talent combined with hard work. A pleasure to watch and listen
Dude is blessed with happy fingers! 😳🥳👍🤟
Man that is fantastic playing. Love it.
Wow that is amazing! One of the best guitarist in the world if not THE best! Great video man

Un guitarrista fantástico, increíble.
God bless You All who stood with the right side of History
Doyle seems so casual, but makes a fantastic sound!
You gotta be a major badass player to pull off the acid washed coral jean jacket.
I think he just did it...could make even purple look good....maybe even better than prince did.
BRAVO!!!! STILL AMAZING!!
Sadly, I missed Doyle when he played in Griffin, GA.
Absolutely awesome!!👍👍👏👏👏🌹🌹💕❤️🇱🇷💕😢🧚🏿♀️💓💗
...i thought of this after playing this vid hundreds of times ...Gods favorite chord ....D-evil 🤣🤣
Wow! The only thing as good as his play is that great grin he gets.....He seems like he'd have a great soul as part of the whole unbelievable package.....Fantastic player...no doubt about it!
First time I've seen someone play way up the top end of guitar looks hard what you're playing
Love that style of picking
Merle Travis Style. RIP.
Great picker. Love those Bashful Brother Oswald dobro tones he gets at about 1:30.
Greg Bishop on drums, Chris Black on bass, Harold Draper on keys, mark Arbogast on guitar
Yeah seen him in town ...amazing ...does a great beatles song
Truely great guitar. Also great camera work to let us enjoy seeing doyle play and entertain instead of machine gun jumping around in an attempt to make the video the star and take away from the music.

Total country-style shred. This dude is amazing!
amazing stuff wow
Hmmm, open tuning bending behind the nut....thanks for the tip! Amazing player.
If you do that you had better break off the string tags when changing strings like he recommends in another vid or you will have a painful accident.
Really fantastic sound from that guitar
I want to see a Video of Doyle Playing /Singing the Song " Down in the Caribbean " Love that Song ! also He wrote a song called "Reality " (so much More than fantasy) .
Wow , was not expecting that. Fantastic
