I’m an RN now, but 20 years ago I was an MA for 5 years! That makes me sad that the nurses you worked with were so mean to you. I’m transitioning to working in a OB/GYN office, after being a labor and delivery nurse. I really hope that kind of culture is not at my new place! I will NOT be a part of that. I was the same way in the hospital. No one is better than anyone else!! We are all on the same team.

I’m actually leaving. I’m burned out. I make $17.15. I don’t have regular offices hours, I go in sometimes at 7:30 and don’t leave till 6:30 or 7:00 at night. I have kids that are still in school. I’m just done and over it. I think it’s something that I could maybe get back into but right now I’m just done.

I would be burnt out, too! I work part time now at a private practice and its much better! Pay is better too.

@@SOPHIADANIELLE I can’t even think about going to another office right now. I know an ortho office wants to hire me for 4, 8 hour days, have off on Thursdays. To be honest with you I’m thinking about going back to my old retail job at kohls, getting close to the holidays and I’ll get good hours. I think taking some time off would be good for me.

you are right, those who study even for short time should get paid higher than the minimum. we basically pay a lot for the program but you you will just end up at minimum rate. that's why im contemplating whether I'll just work in retail store or join a paid program. can't decide!

Correction on PAY as an MA...
Pay depends on location. Even in the same state, it depends on the size of the organization.
Here in Minnesota its starts at $19. Think of it as, "experience makes you better as a professional staff."

I just finished clinicals and am transitioning into my MA I role at a family practice. I personally wish I switched to peds but I have to stick with them for 6 months. Also the pay is okay. My trainee wage was $18.85 and I was just offered $20.60.

Idk what my teacher had to have besides being RMA, but I kno she could only teach MA. Our school had an LPN program and she said she could not teach that because she was only RMA.

As a new MA in a OBGYN clinic like 2 weeks in
What advice do you have for me as it seems overwhelming with 50 to 60 patients a day. Seem like it all gone be impossible to learn as to the information we have to give the patients?

As far as pay, do you think CNA or CMA is better? I am looking into becoming either one, but i want to see what benefits outweigh the odds.

It varies by where you live! I’ve seen a lot of different pay ranges. Texas pays traveling MA’s $52 an hour!! (Just what I’ve seen on indeed and idk what their cost of living is)
