Love your channel! I’ve been a CMA for a year now. My 1st position was a temporary job at a neuro center doing scheduling. I’m now working at a major hospital in the lab as a medical laboratory assistant. I draw blood, receive specimens, & centrifuge certain things... and I LOVE it way more than working with patients. I see so much and every day is different. I’m going back for my bachelors in medical lab science 🙂
My classes were free through Ohio unemployment (i was wrongfully terminated). The state offered me a chance to go to the local vocational school for a training course. Im at an urgent care office and now I'm taking prereqs to be a nurse 😀
My highschool offers a 1 year MA program for free and I’m thinking about taking it my Senoir year so I can have a job while in college to become a Physical Therapist. Do you think I would be taking on too much or it would be a smart source of income while in school?
Yeah same, in Virginia where I'm at it's about $3,000 for 4 months plus the month long externship. It's a fast track accelerated program at a community college and is thankfully so affordable!
@@gloriakanga7309 Around Roanoke, Virginia area. I would check community colleges for that kind of price. I know for-profit places like ECPI are WAY more expensive.
Watching this video made me miss my technical school so bad! I went for Digital Media where we learned how to use professional camera equipment and make videos/films. I’m still best friends with all my classmates! It was the best experience ever! Watching this made me think about going back to do an MA class though! I’ve tried going to a university after my tech school, but it is just a whole different environment and I HATED it. I actually dropped out TWICE! Tech school is definitely the way to go.
Sariah Smith No, I did have financial aid for the technical class. I dropped out of a 4 year university twice, which I had financial aid there too, but I just did not enjoy the slow pace.
Lots of community colleges don't need act scores and are cheaper than 4 year schools and some around me offer MA, I am planning on working while going to school for MA, I wanna get my associates degree or just my license for it idk, I want a better job with job security and an increase in pay than what I'm making now, I hate school as well, like in high school I loved school I loved learning and I read a lot and did 3 clubs and was also involved in church with choir, but when I first went to college I started at community college lived on campus which was a huge mistake, and I had the intention of transferring to a 4 year school, but I got depressed and lazy and dropped out so then I just did jobs, I've been at my current job for 3 almost 4 years and I wanna do something more now that I'm 26
$6000??? I didn’t realize how much more MA classes cost in different areas 😫 I only paid $1690 for MA class. I work as a CNA right now and classes were FREE in high school .
Less than $3k for 7 months of classes here in north Texas, including books, bls card, vaccines to get in and 2 months externship. I didn’t even know higher education could be so inexpensive!!
@@trishslone893 Check to see if your local state schools offer continuing education/workforce development. Non-credit continuing education courses at a community college are super cheap. Even better is if you can find an apprenticeship where you don't pay any tuition and fees, just for supplies. Try searching the name of your closest public school + "apprenticeship program" and see what pops up.
I'm international student who wants to study medical assistant and would luv to know some good programs for this major, but the problem I don't know where to look for information😪
A lot of schools around me that offer MA programs cost between $16,000-$20,000 for 9-12 months and there are the rare few that are $3,000- $8,000 and are 4-6 months long. I’m having difficulty choosing a school as I want one that’s affordable and is actually worth going to.
I'd look for an apprenticeship and not pay any tuition at all. If you can't find one, go for the cheapest option with decent Google reviews. Just make sure the school you're looking at is accredited and guarantees externship/internship/clinical placement. MA wages aren't the best, so I wouldn't spend more than 6 months and $5k to train for a job that rarely pays over $20. Anything longer than 6 months I'd suggest going for practical nursing (unless of course, you're able to find an MA apprenticeship). It'll probably cost another $10k, but it's still only a year of schooling and LPNs make almost double that of CMAs on average. Even if you have to take out student loans, an LPN won't have trouble paying them off (assuming you successfully graduate).
I paid 13000 in Texas for my MA program back in 2013 I love being an MA but I just found an LVN program in FL for 5000. I wish I didn’t pay so much for my MA.
Im starting class next monday and i’m so excited. At my school the course is 11months long and $19,000 all together and now I’m kind of regretting it because after all loans I still have to pay back $11,000😩 I should have picked a different school.
Thats crazy! where are you going? i went to a local school in my area only paid 3,600 for my cma course. I had the best instructor she was a bad ass medical army vet.
I agree with everyone else! That’s too much money🤦🏻♀️ I would definitely explore other options! You don’t wanna spend that much money on the same education you could get somewhere else for a fraction of the cost!
See if there is a technical/community college in your community that offers dual credit courses! Or try to get in with an academic counselor at your high school & go from there!
Can medical assistants work in the operating room? I'm currently going for nursing but I will eventually want to advance to become an RNFA. I did an internship in the OR and find out that surgery is what I want to do. :)
No, medical assistants can’t work in the OR but for people that are looking to work in the OR but but only go to school for a short amount of time so go for surgical tech!! Good luck to you with everything!!:)
@@SOPHIADANIELLE I appreciate the support. Being honest with you, my heart in the surgical tech program because of my passion for surgeries. However, I feel like the nursing route is the best for me and it will also get me to where I want. It's going to require more school and training but it will definitely be worth it. I am doing volunteer at a hospital because I feel like I need hands on and it's good to have. My school does not offer internship or externship for my program. So I decided me doing voluteer is best for me . Any suggestions anybody would recommend for going to school trying to be a Medical Administrative Assistant?
I’m doing the same schooling! And watching all these videos so i can get an idea of different roles and of eventually MA or something will be a fit for me later on
