hmm yeah i get that. i think what helped me with that is, is not seeing things like this as negative. now i view only allowing me and my friends to be hyped and happy as toxic, like toxic positivity. the moments where you are more in depth and in your feelings are the moment that draw you and your friends so close and i got really appreciative of these moments. cause these are the moments you feel so understood and make the other person feel the same way too. like talking about what youre going through while just laying next to each other and looking at the sky and then enjoying the silence after that cause you both just feel so comfortable with each other

    • @jesz97

You are not "killing the vibe" by opening up to your friends. If you want to handle it on your own that is absolutely a valid choice but I hate the idea of people thinking they're a buzzkill for being vulnerable with friends. Real friends will be there for you and opening up can make you even closer friends.

I think in the right setting, leaning on your friends for help is okay. Definitely have a balance between regulating your emotions on your own but also allow your friends to be there for you

When I was depressed (enough to attempt y'know a few times and even spend time in a behavioral health center), I thought the phrase 'healthy body, healthy mind' was BS... but it actually does have an effect. Won't solve everything outright, and it'll take time to get over being dead tired, but after a few weeks the exercise starts putting you in a better mood after (or at least it does for me). I don't think there's a one-all solution, there are multiple things someone can do to feel better. Exercise, eating better, meeting a therapist (can be over the phone if you're too anxious in front of real people), taking medication if you and your doctor recommends it, rewiring your brain so you don't instantly go negative whenever something happens. That last one, if anything, has been great for me in the long-term. I think the best takeaway from therapy are the techniques they teach you to learn how to better deal with things. When something bad happens and I start going "woe is me", I try to catch myself in the act of that, stop, take a couple deep breaths, and then try to find a positive spin on things. After doing that for a while, the exercise becomes a habit, and after longer you just go straight to thinking about the positives. New opportunities, less stress, learning moments. The United States isn't great at a lot of stuff, but they're one of the few countries in the world that actually care about mental health, best to take advantage of that.

A lot of mental health experts in the field now recommend daily exercise. Especially small things like go outside you can go outside for x amount of time doesn't need to be long and work you way up from there.

I got on the fitness grind too after many years and a few attempts, now my knees are busted and I feel like I'll never be happy living in this world, I'm just not made for it, but I've come to accept it, life is probably not meant for everyone and I've accepted that my roll in this world is probably just die alone at the age of 40

    • @Robin-hv5tv

Exercise works for a lot of people. Think of it this way, humans have existed for 150,000 years. 10000 years ago we went from being Hunters and scavengers to farmers. The point is, in such a short time we're still genetically the same. Our bodies needed to be strong and ready for a potential fight or flight. Inactivity lowers our bodies readiness and ability to fight off an enemy. In turn we will feel more anxious and depressed. Plus inactivity and negativity lowers your dopamine and serotonin. Activity raises them. At the same time we actually rested for most of the day to save our energy (calories). Its something were programmed to do but today we threw away the hunt for food, we have it in abundance. So our balance got wrecked and our bodies are confused. So trying our best to emulate how our ancestors lived (but translated to modern day methods) will make us feel better both mentally and physically. Its also funny because our ancestors wouldve gone crazy seeing us pick up heavy stuff and then put it down again or run for no reason because its a waste of energy. We have to do with what we have lolol.

damn i feel the way miyoung feels about opening up to friends... they just brush pass it with a comment/joke when it took every bit of me to be vulnerable. then it just feels like i'm burdening them with my problems. in the end it just feels easier to deal with or process through issues on my own but this comes at a cost cause now i no longer feel like meeting my friends... i don't even know if they can even be considered friends if they are only good to have for the good times but not any other times lol

Feels bad to hear that Miyoung is sad. As a viewer, it seems like these streamers have everything. Their health, their money, their friends.
I don't have those three things, and I spend my time wishing I did, and watching the streams make me forget that I don't. But seeing the other side isn't as bright as it seems, maybe I'm not missing out on much.
I do hope she gets better and that she finds something that gives her happiness. Emptiness is the body's way of saying something is wrong, or that something is missing or needs to change. She seems really nice and doesn't deserve to feel emptiness and sadness all the time.

Before, i will just say that being depressed, and feeling alone is just a joke, but when I myself experienced it, it was no joke. It is scary and confusing at the same time. When I experienced it myself, I cried all the time and I don't know what to do with myself. Good thing I had the courage to tell my sister about it, coz she herself experienced it. She just told me to watch a stream or uplifting videos, and if I felt tired, just sleep and cry it out until you doze off. And it works for me.

I've felt the same way so many times in life and sometimes I go back to this mentality.. but honestly reducing social media time and being somewhat more productive has done good things for my mental.. setting up a small goal everyday and achieving it makes me feel better and more confident. Also, it might sound corny but you CAN be happy, sometimes I don't really believe it or I see people on instagram have a great time and feel jealous. But then going out with friends makes me realize that oh yeah maybe I can have some fun too you know 😊 anyways those are my thoughts and I hope you got sth out of this for everyone reading. ❤

I hear you, Miyoung. People don't understand that they just can't do something to insantly cheer you up and it will be over. It doesn't work that way. All people need to do is listen and don't offer never-ending solutions. We don't need advice. Sometimes we just need an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on to not feel alone--just friends who will be there and just hang out. And pets, they can make all the difference.

You know at first I was a bit pissed when she started talking about it, cause I genuinely am so jealous of what these guys have - and I don't mean financial, I mean their friendship looks amazing and just being seen and cared for by so many people .. but then she acknowledged that she shouldn't feel that way because she has a lot to be grateful for, and I can respect that - it's VERY important to be aware of what you should appreciate. It's way more triggering to others to always complain without any sort of appreciation of anything - if that makes sense.

though those sad feelings and thoughts sometimes get the better of me, it's great to just feel them and make them valid, not judge them, drink them, distract yourself away from them. Just acknowledge them. (perhaps maybe you can even ask yourself why they're there. and with of course dopamine, it's natural to have low states and high states and such)

If you have the means, going to psychotherapy with honesty is the best thing I have ever done for my mental health.
I talked to a psychologist previously, not being entirely honest, and I made little progress.
It shouldn't be affirming therapy. Just real therapy where you are honest and open.

For anyone that feels this way please people allow people in. When you’re alone and down if reaching out will help you feel even 1% better do it. If they’re your true friend they would never want you to feel alone. Think if the roles were reversed, you would likely be there if a friend reached out. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Don’t isolate yourself because you THINK they’ll be annoyed with you. If your friends are reaching out and checking that means they truly care for you. Your feeling matter and the reason we make these connections with people are for moments when we are happy and sad. Sometimes all you need to have an ear. Talking through your problems out loud can lead comfort. Your friends don’t have to have a solution to your problem but they can just be there for support. When you’re struggling alone it only makes getting better that much harder. Allow yourself to be surrounded by those that care for you.

I think what content creators have working against them today compared to like the earlier RUclipsr days is that they cant be as open as they used to be. To an extent thats good because some old content creators grossly took advantage of that, but now its put everyone in the position of not feeling like its okay to care about people they spend the majority of time listening/watching and in the case of streamers and current youtubers, like they cant really be themselves with their audience.
I defnitely get what shes feeling here in a lot of ways and i hope that everyone around her takes not and care of her mental state as much as they can.

Felt the same way (depressed). Then I fixed it by realizing we make our simulation life (internet, video games, etc) more lit than our real life. We'd rather be distracted like hanging out, scrolling internet, or posting pics for attention, likes, etc. just for a dopamine hit. But that's all temporary. Its all simulation. You'll have to eventually come back to real world. To me it makes sense 100% cus alot of us spend our energy on simulations, so ofc your real life is not going to be lit in comparison (even though you can make is "seem" like your having a blast on social media). Alot of us gamers or internet dwellers eat unhealthy, dont even exercise, sleep late, and then we wonder why we feel trash and think trash. It shouldnt be a mystery imo cus the answer is in our faces. Personally, I havent felt depressed or anxiety in almost 3 years straight. Maybe a little but I get over it very fast. Also, Ive also changed my purpose in life, I dont think im just a "gamer" im way more than that and will do more. imo theres a bigger purpose than just your selfish dreams. For sure that helped too. Now I actually love being alone cus I could hear my thoughts and they are positive. Its about building, what I can do to help, and abundance. Not scarcity, "what I can do for me me me me", being selfish with shallow purpose. Just my 2 cents.

I may be heavily projecting but I bet you're a lot like me. Goal Oriented. You find joy and meaing in doing things, the act of doing stuff is where the enjoyment comes from.
Having a goal or task or thing to do with friends is fun, but after it's done, there's a feeling of emptyness. My advice is get a hobby that you can also do something if you're alone.
Try learning a language maybe, or a puzzle or something that you think you could work at for a long time but not actually finish.

Don't know if she wants advice but maybe, since feeling bad about feeling bad is just worse, lean into it? Don't give up but be happy to be sad.

I think being with family helps a lot, no matter what they're family. When I'm with my family I forget what else is going on in my life. Friends? not that much, no matter how close they are, they'll make fun of you! and when I'm down in life, that small making fun, impacts so much! One other thing is believing in God, at least when I've no one to talk to, I've God, it may sound cliche' but its true for me, at least it takes away the suicidal thoughts.
Hope MiYoung gets through it quickly 😇

At least she has friends that care enough to ask how she is doing and offer to help. Some of us don't have that.

everybodys "living their best life" looks different, if you need rest days to do nothing, take the day. its more important to not feel bad about it

what happened? nothing. what can we do to make it better? nothing, because there's nothing wrong.
do you feel grateful with what you have? definitely. are you capable of feeling joy and happiness? yes.
"but at the end of the day. it doesnt matter"
from what i see.. this is a lack of purpose, that leads to depression. as if she only stay in one place. stagnant.
we all know money is not the problem. if she keeps doing what she's doing, she probably can still live off of it completely.
but deep in her heart, she know that's not what she lives for. yet.. she doesnt know what either.
this happens a lot.. and i know this happened to an older youtubers like jack, markiplier and even pewdiepie at some point.
and people have different ways to cope with it. right now.. she has her dog, so its probably fine.
but.. we all know dog doesnt have as much lifespan as human, so when nabi gets much older and beginning to feel unwell.
if you're her friends and reading this. please keep an eye on her. that would be her lowest point.
