Now something that NO ONE has mentioned is that the X-S10 supports UHD type 1 cards only while the X-T30ii supports UHD type 2 cards. Furthermore, when using a gimbal, the articulating screen on the X-S10 is unusable. It gets in the way of filming and balancing the camera properly on the gimbal. Hope this helps. Cheers 🍻.

Correct me if I am wrong but in theory the XT30II at 5fps should kick the X-S10's butt for buffer? I may even wish to shoot RAW+Jpg (as I quite often work from the Jpgs) but I am imagining that will really thrash the buffer so I'll just have to shoot RAW only and use X Raw Studio after the fact and generate the Jpgs from the RAWs. But yeh, I'm actually thinking the cheaper, smaller XT30II cameras is the better STILLS backup for the XT4 (for things like weddings and events where IBIS is actually not as critical as one might think when using small primes). Am I looking at things wrong?
@@SummersSnaps If this is your workflow, let me recommend even a better camera than the X-T30ii or the X-S10. The X-T3. The prices now are ridiculously low., under $1000. That really is more compatible with the X-T4. But yes 100% definitely the X-T30ii is way better than the X-S10.
@@CharlezRichard That camera was on my radar as well, but there was one thing that put me off (and you'll laugh), but its the outdated X trans sensor and lack of matching XT4 sims. I actually have done a few weddings and events now where I have shot RAW to one card and Jpg to another and lightly retouched the Jpgs and handed over to the client. The rendered Fuji look can be that good. I want to ensure that I am not unable to match whatever profile I use with the XT4 with the second backup body, so it really was a tie between the XS10 and XT30II in this regard. I thought the XS10 would be the closer match to the XT4 (and in many ways it is), but thinking about things a bit more (and purely from Stills perspective) I think the XT30II will be the actual better choice. Thanks for confirming this.
So you mean the X-T4 have the same picture sims? And you mention the "outdated sensor" of X-T3 - this is the first time i read this, isnt't it the same as X-T4?
Fuji, just give us x-t40, basically x-t30 II with ibis. You know what we want. Retro body with a lot of dials, ibis, great focus, less video capabilities and not as expensive as x-t4.
@@Hisoka22361 Sure but how many do I need - 3. Unless I have a quick button then I can do with 2. It's when I get down to 1 dial that things get clumsy.
My dream Camera : XT 30ii with slightly deeper grip + IBIS. Wouldn't lose my patience for it, it has to be done one day. Fujifilm, there are a whole lot of photographers who prefer "tilt screen" to a "fully articulating screen", retro look with direct controls (menu driven controls are such a botheration), slightly deeper grip (but not as deep as XS 10, making it ugly & bulky), and IBIS. We will have lovely camera in hand.
Chris, you're definitely to blame for the X-T30 II purchase and NOT returning it as I originally anticipated. I shoot Nikon. I knew the Fujifilm wouldn't meet my color science and film sim mode expectations. Upon downloading the raw files, Fujifilm proved otherwise. Truly, I was in disbelief of NOT doing post, only thing I did was pick which film sim. I can't say that about any of my Nikon shots especially one of the bodies I own is the D850.
X-S10. Absolutely love it. I paired it with the XC 35MM and it works really good. thanks for the content guys, I´m always watching even if I´m not looking for new gear

Have and love the XT4 ... BUT ... want the XS10 as a smaller second/backup because it has both IBIS and fully articulating screen, plus the nice grip. Have used PASM on other cameras so that's fine(XT4 has all the real dials like my film cameras have). GREAT comparison between the XS10 and XT30ii...really clarifies the differences for those looking at both.
Strange how the lower cost X-T200 camera came and went in the blink of an eye. It still appears in the product list on Fuji's US Web site, but it seems to be discontinued here. The body design (especially the16:9 aspect ratio, 3.5" LCD/TFT screen) on that camera was very interesting.
While I'm not a fan of the fully articulating screen since I shoot mostly still photography, I bought the X-S10 for the IBIS and the new film simulations. The only other contender for me was the XT-3 but the price held me back. I can buy another lens for the price difference.
Hi! I'm planning on buying my first fujifilm camera and I'm kinda torn between these two ad well but was actually leaning towards this one more but I came across a video that says overheating and fast draining battery is really bad with this camera. Any thoughts?
Fuji only released the Xt30 2 because the xs10 killed off the Xt30 so they needed to find a way to keep it relevant. I'm so happy with my xs10, ibis makes a HUGE difference and having Fuji's current best crop sensor means I won't need another camera for a damn good few years to come.
@@WarpedTrekker fortunately I don't suffer from it, I actually think most people who do are just trying to compensate for lack of creativity, thinking that a few extra features will somehow give them better pictures, when really it just sucks more of the soul out if their work. xt30 has more restrictions on functions in different shooting modes, especially when shooting in fully automatic or scene modes. BE AWARE, ULTRA ANNOYING.
I would love to see sales numbers per month for these two cameras but it's probably not necessary. If the X-S10 does well then there will be a lot more cameras like it. It is the first Fuji that I think I'd consider. I'm sure there are a lot of people outside the Fuji ecosystem that has thought the same.
Between the two I prefer the xs10 because of the ibis. I’m in my60’s and with aging it’s nice to have the extra stability. Although I understand people liking the larger grip I wish Fujifilm would have opted for a detachable grip to make it more portable.
I believe for some photographers, the looks of the camera body is important. I am primarily interested in the functionality of the camera. I think Fuji primes (especially if bought used) are inexpensive jewels. I bought the Fuji X-S10, for it's small body with IBIS, to match my 16mm, 23mm and 35mm primes.
Hi, I have a question for users of x-s10. Could You confirm or denied with overheating? I know that not so many people record video over 15 minutes, but sometimes for the videostream is required :) How it looks with overheating, when you record in 1440p or 1080p ? :)

As an owner of the original X-T30, I was pretty bummed when the Mark II was released, which means I won't be getting the firmware updates, but it doesn't really bother me. The only thing I wish it had is the X-T3 portrait tilt. Not a fan of the fully articulating screens personally As far as colour goes, I can still get Classic Negative as Capture One has that profile and I always shoot in raw
Fuji ditched the kaizen philosophy years ago. There’s no reason the lower priced cameras can’t have nostalgic negative. They’ve become more like Sony, releasing incremental updates as new cameras instead of free firmware updates.
I owned the X-T30 and thought about upgrading to the 30ii. The problem I had was the location of the Q button. My big hands kept hitting it. The 30ii was the same. I opted for the SX-10 because of the location of the ISO and Q buttons. Also the IBIS was a great addition.
@@bilbo8338 The X-S10 is holding up nicely. I use it mostly for video now. I miss the ease of adjusting ISO and Shutter speed by the dials on top, like my X-T5. The X-T5 is much more complected for video and the X-S10 seems much easier. I am thinking of going to the X-S20.

First off, super cool you guys are anglers AND Fuji shooters. I'm a designer/photographer in Oregon and also shoot and provide brand design for clients while also guiding fly fishers on our local rivers and of course fishing for myself whenever I can. I am in the market for a second body as I been shooting an XH-1 since 2018. I am looking for a smaller camera that I can take when I travel and for fishing and hunting excursions and it also be a second camera for architectural, hospitality and food shoots as I am constantly changing between a wide angle, 80mm macro and a prime 18mm. I also have clients wanting more video so throwing that in the mix brought the X-S20 in play. Just watched the X-S20 review and am considering that now as my top choice. I'm old school on the manual controls but think I can program the function buttons to my liking and not miss a beat when shooting. Thanks tons for the great reviews and keep them coming!
if the X-T30II had IBIS would have been a really great camera for all types of shooting, I feel like Fuji just wanted to do some cash grab on this model
Very helpful video. I wish the xt30ii had a larger grip. I wish the xs10 had the focus mode dial on the front. Both are cool cameras, especially for the price. I would choose either over the a6400. If we could merge the best features of both it would be wonderful! Lol
Yes, I would have loved to get the IBIS, better grip, better battery, and fully articulating screen, but I really use the manual controls of the X-T30. It's a shame they didn't produce a camera with both.
Thanks dpreview for the presentation as it is always informative. I was all set and ordered the X-S10 and even mail ordered/received the “L- bracket” while I was waiting for the back-ordered X-S10 to arrived six months ago. I came across a brand new old stock X-T2 for a slightly discounted price. I bought it and cancelled the back- ordered X-S10. Two reasons I bought the X-T2: it’s made in Japan and I am an old fashioned guy who likes the retro look and controls. This is my first first Fujifilm mirrorless and I feel comfortable with it and the only regret I may have is missing the ibis?

FWIW, I have an X-S10 and it is a fine camera. I've owned, at various times, an X-T2, X-T4, X-E4, X-Pro3 and X100F and X100V - but my wife just gave birth to our first child and, in the interest of needing to shoot video to capture her first moments, I decided IBIS was necessary (and the X-T4 is bigger than I like from a form factor) - hence landing on the X-S10. It's fantastic - as are most, if not all of the most recent generation of X-Trans cameras - my only issue is the 'standard' dials you might find on a Sony/Nikon, etc. I just find some of the joy sucked out of the experience versus the more traditional Fuji dials (SS / ISO / EXP Comp) that really just - well - yeah, they bring me a little extra joy when shooting! Also, yes, Classic Neg is incredible!

@@heyjeon1840 I mean, the reviews like this will do more than I can do to reassure you - but I've had Fuji cameras since 2016 - the batteries of the older models that use the old rectangular brick battery like the X-S10 aren't amazing, but depending what you use it for you should be able to get a day's usage out of it. For reassurance if nothing else, I always bought a couple of cheap Wasabi brand batteries and had them with me - rarely needed to use them but put me at ease. I wouldn't let it stress you. Battery life may not be as good as some of the newer or competitors, but it's not going to ruin your experience with the cam.

I have decided to go for Fuji camera. but here also confused, 1) X-T4 = Costly (else this is first choice) 2) X-T3 = Weather sealing + 10 bit + iso, exposure Knobs on camera body + better EVF 3) X-S10 = IBIS 4) X-T30 II = low price of all + iso, exposure Knobs on camera body This is my preference, what is your opinion among, 2nd and 3rd choice (X-T3 vs X-S10) Do, IBIS (X-S10) should be given more weight over Weather sealing + 10 bit (X-T3) ?
my only issue with xt30II is that it lacks IBIS. IBIS can be a big deal in a lot of cases. I think Fuji should do what they did with xe-4 and xt30. Similar cameras, just different designs. Then Id go for xt30 any day
If there is a X-T40 then it will be the one with IBIS. If they had put IBIS in the X-T30 II they would have had to redesign the body, the only internal difference is the chip which is a like for like switch out and not a full body redesign. I think they planned on the X-T40 coming out now but the supply issues likely had something to do with it, whereas they had a bunch of X-T30s lying around and replacing the screen and chip is easy
hey im thinking if getting my first camera and I am stuck between these two. is it worth the extra £200 or so for the X-S10 ? or should I go for the X-T30 mark II? (love your vids btw)
I love everything about the X-S10 (grip, IBIS, I even like PASM dial), except... the flip out LCD. To get a tilt up/down view, you have to flip out the LCD. (For me the LCD on the X-T100 is perfect.)
You may want to check out the Nikon Z5 for not much more than the X-S10. I love the X-S10 but the Z5 is a more rounded package and FF… that is of course if you haven’t already bought into the Fuji system.
This is the battle I'm looking into to replace my busted X-T2. I was hoping for a T40 with a swivel screen, and flirting with the idea of self-sabotage and buying into the dead-end Canon M series because my darkest secret is that I don't actually like the Fuji colours.
I need an X-T40 with ibis so bad, the layout of the dials on the X-T30 is my favourite on any camera ever, but the ibis on the X-S10 is sooooooo tempting.
I never understood the appeal of the flip out fully articulating screen, beyond vlogging. For stills I love a tilting screen that stays inline with the lens.
Love the fully articulating flippy. Should have been a way to shield the LCD decades ago this way. New screens coming out protecting sensors another great long overdue enhancement.

Wait till you get to their lens lineup. Most have an aperture dial, but some don't, some are weather resistant but most aren't, some are stabilised but most aren't, and all with no rhyme or reason.
@@bullsharkreef The lens line up: XC: plastic build, no aperture ring XF: better build quality, have aperture ring, no OIS for primes, newer ones have WR
@@bullsharkreef No rhyme or reason? All the fujicrons are WR. That's consistent, all the new line of 1.4s are. That's consistent. I think all the current XF lenses have aperture rings since they added it to the pancake, where it was obvious why the first version didn't have it due to size and engineering difficulty. No primes are stabilized, minus the 200 and 80mm macro for obvious specialty use case reasons. And for other ones they were balancing the use case for each focal length with price feature trade-off. only one i find weird is that the 16-55 zoom doesn't have OIS like the other major zooms. I think it'a definitely a case of there might be a couple anomalies vs no rhyme or reason. It's not the wild west though, nobody's grabbing random slips of paper from a hat to add features. Or maybe you're talking about XC lenses, but then it's like who cares those are XC lenses. The whole point of XCs is they have trade-offs for cheaper price,.
The X-T30 II should being priced 699 to max. 699 bucks, because it doesn't feature anything really new, since the original T30 much, and furtherway, it's without IBIS. Anyway, both have the same, small EVF. It would being great, to have the big 3.68 MP EVF from the X-T3/T4 into the X-T30(II) and XS-10.
I have an X-S10. My least favorite parts are the missing manual vs autofocus clicker on the bottom left + not having the custom movie modes like on my XT4. The best parts are the sensor, flippy screen, full size mic jack, and the girthy grip. And IBIS. So…everything he said in the video 😆
I saw deals on both of these cameras locally, and almost decided to get either of them (currently have the X-T200).. but man, I'll be saving for X-T3 ke X-T4, just because of that better EVF. I wish Fuji made a cheaper model with the EVF from the X-T3 or X-T4
I will probably go for the X-S10 even though it doesnt have the shutter speed dial, which I will miss alot, BUT I would get IBIS as compensation, which is AMAZING. Once you've had IBIS you cant go back..
I like that the X-T30 II still stays true to it's beginnings of a lightweight premium photo camera. We don't need another hybrid 4k60, huge grip, fully idioticating body with the size, weight and price of a FF camera. Just considerate technology updates while keeping the same body and size.

But, I believe like IBIS is something I could very much find useful especially if I want to use some prime lenses which don't have OIS. Another thought is, if I'm missing the retro look I still have my X-T3 to cheer me up on that. Bottom line, should I drop the thought of eventually getting the X-T30ii and only focus on the other 2 cameras?
I've XS10 and quite happy with all the things that come with it.. but after saw few review just kind of turndown point is it doesn't have any weather sealing by the way really love how you do the review
🤦♂️😲 Oooooooooooohhhhhhh, now it makes sense! Sony upgraded the screen on the “A7RIVa” and whatever other cameras not because of a parts shortage, but because they wanted to take advantage of the abnormal imbalance in supply and demand and needed an excuse to raise the price back up to the original MSRP. I realize this has nothing to do with Fuji but it just finally hit me at 1:40 into this video
So ... which of these upgrades on the X-T30II are actually hardware? The screen and a bit of RAM? Everything else seems to be software, right? .... Why is this a new camera instead of a firmware update?
My read on this is that it's related to the semiconductor shortage- Fuji is rationalizing their supply chain. The X-S10 gets allocated the existing stock of the old RAM and LCD panels, the X-T30 II gets the same panels and chips they're using in the X-T4. The film sims *should* be a firmware update but they wont do it sadly... Last time was when the X-T2 got Eterna after the X-H1 launch.
Although presumably it will lower the second-hand price of the original XT30 and so make it harder for owners to upgrade to the XT4/XS-10... (A bit like the GH5-II for GH5 owners when the GH6 arrives...) XS-10 is the one to get IMHO BTW...
Maybe I’m missing something here, but doesn’t the articulating screen make the x-s10 more video focused, while the dial set up and tilt screen on the x-t30ii make it more photo focused?
Chris, In my opinion You should put in every review an info about overheating camera during the recording video. That will be very useful for me to find my camer for the many years to record stars moving at the night (or for example to the timelapse)

Fucking ibis, don’t want it, don’t need it. If you want ibis buy an xt4.

GREAT comparison between the XS10 and XT30ii...really clarifies the differences for those looking at both.
i'd take X-S10 all the time, ibis, nice grip, articulated screen etc
I love the X-S10 so much I own 2 for multi camera shoots, its just so much better than the old canon DLSRs I was using before
Strange how the lower cost X-T200 camera came and went in the blink of an eye.
@Rocky Waters - Unless you get GAS. Then you will need another.

It’s kinda annoying that in the XS10 you only have 4 custom formulas (C1-C4) while the other cameras can store 7 presets accessible through the menu
X-S10 is probably the perfect hobbyist camera. 3 things could improve is: MCS dial, Battery life and 10bit video.
3 more things: The battery life and the autofocus of the A6600 and the range of lenses that is available for e-mount. Fuji only has outdated zooms.
I'd like the XS10 in silver if available.
The IBIS is definitely a nice touch.
I believe for some photographers, the looks of the camera body is important. I am primarily interested in the functionality of the camera.

X-T2

I'm gonna choose X-ST1030 II
I owned the old X-T30 and I so loved the retro look but but hated the auto focus. For me, the ibis and better auto focus on the S10 is a deal breaker.
but x-t30 got updates on the autofocus though...
I have decided to go for Fuji camera.
but here also confused,
1) X-T4 = Costly (else this is first choice)
2) X-T3 = Weather sealing + 10 bit + iso, exposure Knobs on camera body + better EVF
3) X-S10 = IBIS
4) X-T30 II = low price of all + iso, exposure Knobs on camera body
This is my preference, what is your opinion among, 2nd and 3rd choice (X-T3 vs X-S10)
Do, IBIS (X-S10) should be given more weight over Weather sealing + 10 bit (X-T3) ?
my only issue with xt30II is that it lacks IBIS.

What I think is that they shuld make a high quality analog range finder.
Even for vlogging and self portraits, a flip up screen is better
Love my X-S10 and I'd still choose it over the updated X-T30. IBIS and the far better grip are well worth the price bump.

Wait till you get to their lens lineup. Most have an aperture dial, but some don't, some are weather resistant but most aren't, some are stabilised but most aren't, and all with no rhyme or reason.
Just think of it as "they all have the same picture quality, just pick the body style you like and wether you want weather resistance and IBIS"
@@bullsharkreef The lens line up:
XC: plastic build, no aperture ring
XF: better build quality, have aperture ring, no OIS for primes, newer ones have WR
I bought an X-S10 and it's been great.
I’ve set the left control dial to set autofocus mode-M, C, S. Makes it almost as quick and easy to set as the switch they omitted.
That Bleach Bypass simulation should be called the "Army of the Dead" preset.
I saw deals on both of these cameras locally, and almost decided to get either of them (currently have the X-T200).. but man, I'll be saving for X-T3 ke X-T4, just because of that better EVF. I wish Fuji made a cheaper model with the EVF from the X-T3 or X-T4
Nothing to do with the cameras, but I found the landscapes very beautiful and thought the composition of the shots was great.

Because they fcked up spec of the original xt30.
Fuji film needs to make it so you can disable the quick start menu button
Waiting for Fujifilm X-S10 ver. II 🤔
Although presumably it will lower the second-hand price of the original XT30 and so make it harder for owners to upgrade to the XT4/XS-10...
(A bit like the GH5-II for GH5 owners when the GH6 arrives...)
XS-10 is the one to get IMHO BTW...
Processor the same on both?
Maybe I’m missing something here, but doesn’t the articulating screen make the x-s10 more video focused, while the dial set up and tilt screen on the x-t30ii make it more photo focused?
That’s what I thought as well. That’s why I ended up the XT
@@verynick leaning toward the x-t30ii for the same reason. How’s it with the smaller grip?
i mean if i was going from Panasonic to Fuji id get a XS-10/XS-20 because of the dials and the comfy looking grip.
Chris, In my opinion You should put in every review an info about overheating camera during the recording video. That will be very useful for me to find my camer for the many years to record stars moving at the night (or for example to the timelapse)
I was trying to decide between these two to just buy the X-T4 :D
Is the X-S10 still worth buying now? Late 2022-23?
i own xt30 mk1 - and for my needs, I simply dont see any chance to upgrade at all. I would rather go for XT-3 or 4
Wath camera have af video best, x-s10 or x-t30 ii?
couldnt pay much attention to the two Fuji s because the Panasonic S1H video is SO good.
When u get used to the benefits of IBIS and master the drawbacks as experienced sometimes with ”floating@ video. (drastic z movement).
I think IBIS is more useful than extra pixels on LCD.
At the end of the day you take photos with your eyes and brain first. I personally prefer the xt30 for pure enjoyment.
Current wait time on the x-s10 is 2-4 months per B&H so something to consider if you're in a hurry to purchase a new camera.
