As a hybrid shooter, X-S10 for me. For photos though, the X-T30 is hard to beat. As you said, it gives you the full Fuji experience. I wanted to like the X-E4 but it was too minimalistic for me. Maybe it would be a good secondary camera to a X-T4 or something but as an enthusiast that can only justify owning one camera, it couldn’t be the X-E4.

Nice video, thanks. regarding the lack of a rear command dial on the X-E4, the easy way around this is to program the front command dial to control both shutter speed and ISO. Press it once and it controls shutter speed, press again and it switches to ISO. Quick, easy and still fully manual, provided you use the aperture ring on your lens. It's what I do and works very well.

I currently use an X-E4. Came from an X-H1 and X-T3. The X-E4 is by far my most favorite camera I've ever used, including the Nikon, Canon, and Sony cameras I've used throughout the years. As a mainly still shooter, it's a very fun (and fashionable) camera to carry around everyday. You can also customize the handling to your taste from being minimal and compact to beefy with a grip. All the buttons and controls being on one side is a plus too IMO. At first, I was raging when the X-E4 was first announced because of the loss of some buttons and a dial but when I actually used and customized the controls. Heck, I'd even choose the X-E4 to shoot weddings if I still did those. It's a decent video camera too for vlogs too. I really hope Fujifilm continues the X-E line.

    • @AiSavvy
      @AiSavvy Год назад +1

@@Bughy195 is it a matter of what lenses you should use with the specific body? I own X-E4 with Fuji 55-200 + Viltrox 13mm f1.4 + Viltrox 85mm f1.8 and happy as hell to be honest. Btw I'm just a casual shooter, nothing fancy. 27mm fuji lens should be only mk 2 (with aperture ring), that version is better overall compared to the first one.

Great comparison; your videos are always enjoyable to watch.
Ah, the screen...such a personal item...folks who do a lot of portrait or street photography seem to prefer the tilt screen. But the fully articulating screen is not just for vloggers...those of us who like outdoor non-people(mostly) shots often use the articulating screen to get those odd angles that a fixed or tilt screen either won't reach or would require the photographer be in uncomfortable positions. But if all you need to do is stand and shoot what's in front if you, a tilt screen is enough.
On camera flash...good for fill or low light in a pinch...though admittedly fill is better with the x100v leaf shutter so you can use the high shutter speed.
Which do I have? XS10, because...IBIS, fully articulating screen, grip...have discovered the film simulation dial is fun to play with...have PSAM on other brands, so that's fine (prefer dedicated dials, though.
Battery life...more is always better, but my reference is learning on 12 or 36 shots per roll, so hundreds per battery is heaven. As with film, carry extras.
Now to be fair, I have XS10, XT4, X100V, which pretty much covers all uses for me. 😉🙃

Last month I paid my rent with my xt30-1.
2 years ago I had to choose between xt30 and xs10. I love the controls on xt30 and not a fan of xs10s design plus could get xt30 on massive discount (obviously the biggest factor in my decision). I dont do video yet so IBIS was not a big deal for me. It is now though as I'm moving more into hybrid shooting.
If I had to make a choice today, after 2 years of daily shooting xt30, I would take xs10. Its a better value offer. Even if i dont like it's design. It can do everything xt30 can, but also offers more and therefore you can do more. Even if it's battery is not the best I still have to carry around 2 or 3 extra batteries for xt30 so what if i have to carry another 2.
If I could choose anything else I would hunt down a second hand XT3.
At the moment going to wait another 2 years before getting a second camera probably whatever xt5 will be. Won't be selling my xt30 though. Amazing camera.

@Reggie Ballesteros I'm at a constant struggle with compact vs features. I already have a GRiii for the P&S size. The XPro3 is easily one of the most comfortable cameras I've held, but I think I could wait through this release schedule and see what the XPro4 has to offer, or at least allow the XPro3 to drop in price. I've really considered the X-T3 because it's the do-everything camera, but that's where the X-T30 comes in because it's that but a little more simplified. The X-E4 is the simplist and has the best drip next to the X100V, which would be the easy choice if I'd be happy with a fixed lens. I'll likely be sticking to my X-T1 for awhile and rent to see what works best for me. It's unfortunate that somehow all of these cameras do what I want them to do, but none of them have it all.

I wanted to reach out to you for your expertise in cameras as I am in need of a recommendation. I work as an insurance surveyor in the Maldives, specializing in property damage assessments, particularly related to fire incidents and weather damages.
During my surveys, I heavily rely on capturing pictures and videos, which play a crucial role in assessing the extent of damages. I require a camera that can provide exceptional image and video clarity, allowing me to capture detailed information without the need for extensive editing, as it is not permitted in my line of work.
Considering the hot and humid climate in the Maldives, I also need a camera that can perform well in such conditions. Additionally, there are occasions when I have to take pictures and videos in low-light areas, so low-light performance is important to me.
Apart from work-related purposes, I also intend to use the camera for personal use. I frequently travel for both work and leisure, and I would like to capture high-quality pictures and videos for personal enjoyment, occasionally applying edits to enhance their appeal.
Currently, I am using a GoPro, which does not meet my requirements. My budget for a new camera is around $1000, but I am open to slight adjustments if necessary.
I must admit that my knowledge of cameras is quite limited. Terms like lenses, MM, mirrorless, and various other technicalities can be overwhelming for me.Given my lack of expertise, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations you may have regarding the camera itself, as well as any additional equipment I may need.
I would genuinely appreciate your guidance in selecting a camera that fulfills my professional and personal needs. I have been researching for months, but I am yet to reach a conclusion. Your expertise would be immensely helpful in making an informed decision.
Thank you so much for your time and assistance. I eagerly await your valuable suggestion.

I did not know anything about Fuji, but got a really nice offer on an xs10 kit second hand that I could not refuse, so now I have one and don't really regret it. Maybe if I would have waited a bit longer I would have bought a second hand XT4 instead just because of the weather sealing and dual card slots.
Long story short I've shot (film - praktica mtl3) and digital Canon DSLRs from about 2007 until 2021 and have been living under a rock not trying mirrorless earlier.
So far I only found one major weakness in mirrorless, in a studio setup with extremely dim light and no modeling light the EVF will be near black and hard to frame.

Thank you for this video. I am really really struggling on this one and have pretty much narrowed it down to X-T30 (I) used or XS-20 new. The X-T30 used (in mint condition) is $600 and the XS-20 new is exactly double the price. I’m not considering the. X-T30II as there are too few used models and the new model is priced so close to an XS-20 that I might as well get that one if I wanted.
I am heavily skewed towards taking stills (I have taken a total of two videos in the past five years lol) but I think IBIS is incredibly useful for APSC stills in low light conditions. I REALLY REALLY love both the Silver color and the manual dials which skews the balance towards the X-T30, and as I previously used the 18-50 Sigma on Sony I can just get the 18-55 Kit lens with OIS to compensate.

Soooo I guess I didn't take into consideration the battery life on these cameras. I've been contemplating getting one just to have as a different flavor to shoot with. I shoot a lot of portraits (which would be great for any of these cameras) and sports/dance photography. I was kind of shocked with the battery life performance you mentioned. Now, it's almost laughable to compare what I use now because it's just specifically geared for that type of photography and I'm able to shoot (and have shot) more than 10K-20K frames in a single sporting or dance competition event setting. Obviously these cameras would not provide that kind of performance, but that's not what I would get one for of course. But I'm still intrigued and still have an interested in getting one eventually. I already contemplated going the rental route to see what the experience would be, so right off the bat, I agree with what you said in that it's the best way to get familiarized with a different system entirely. I've shot Canon for over 25 years, and I've invested in that ecosystem with the lenses I have. So this would definitely be a step in a completely different direction...but one I might enjoy. Your video had a lot of great insight! Thanks again!
