We run the same engine in a dirt oval class called Modlites over here in thr states. It was intended to be an affordable entry level class, but as the supply of used motors dries up, and more and more shops specialize in blueprinting the engines to the max of stock spec, it's got to where the Chevy small block in my full sized mod is cheaper than the GSXR

Just looked it up, that’s awesome! Yeah I guess 20 years ago they were easy to get hold of, now that’s not the case.
My head always turns when I hear a GSXR drive by now, I’m immediately reminding of the race track

Racing is indeed expensive but I think there are some places where you could save a little. A spare engine is great but is it really necessary to have a race prepped one? I raced Radicals for years with a race motor and a junkyard bike engine as a spare. It did get used a few times and was competitive enough to get me through a race weekend while saving me a lot. As for the Data system again just setup a big bright oil pressure and water temperature light (the only info you need in a sprint race) and do your data using an AIM solo together with a Smarty Cam. Yes the dash is cooler but we're talking about saving money here and these two items can easily be removed from the car and hold their value really well. Where I would not skimp is on the vehicle prep and the new wrap. If you look smart and professional you are much more likely to get sponsors even if they are small local businesses of a few hundred here and there. Good luck in 2024!

Appreciate the comment and insight. I hiccup with my accountant means I probably can’t afford the spare engine now anyway, but I hear what you’re saying about a cheaper spare.
That’s a good shout about the wrap, will make sure it looks good for the new season!
Do you race these days? Loved seeing the Radicals fly fast on track.

@@ChapmansCorner I raced for 31 years and stopped last season after doing LMP3. I now help young drivers out so they can learn from my three decades of grey hair. While I don't race any more I still keep a Radical for fun and will be doing a one off at Le Mans this year in one of the support races for the 24. I can't seem to get the racing needle out :)

The plastic bottle is your oil catch tank, (if the oil level is too high excess oil is forced into this tank). I don't wish to question your team but I believe that it is not permitted to alter the engine with the exception of collets, (valve spacers) and mapping through the power commander. The engine should only produce a maximum 175bhp. The Aims system is awesome. I'm saving up for one but at the moment am struggling with other costs. These are definitely expensive toys. I'm doing the work on my own car and I figure it costs me about £400 a week every week of the year and I know I'm doing it on the cheep. Thanks for the great videos

I clearly wasn’t listening properly! So much information to take in.
We are changing the plastic bottle to a metal oil catch tank.
Worth it for those few hours every other month 😅

I have an old Stack system in my FV. Other than limited function, I can never remember which buttons get me to the screen I am looking for while racing.

Just Googled stack systems, it looks identical to the one that was originally in my car! Thanks for the comment
I know what you mean, the screen you want never wants to be found
