  • The best on track battle I've had in F1000
    This time we got straight into the race action!
    No rear cam for this unfortunately, but plenty of drama in front.

    Good to see your lap times coming down gradually as you got smoother. Oulton is by far the most technical circuit in the UK to drive.

      Appreciate that! I’m about 3 seconds off the top drivers currently, roughly half of that is due to old tyres vs new. So I wouldn’t say limit of the car, there is a lot left in it, but definitely at the limit of my ability and the tyres which makes it fun

      Appreciate that! Sorry for that, I am working on it. Took off hypersmooth for testing before the race, but attached to the bodywork which shook it so much the footage is useless. I was fuming. Lesson - attach to the chassis not bodywork if you're turning off hypersmooth.

    • @ChapmansCorner
      @ChapmansCorner  9 месяцев назад +1

      Haha yes for those few seconds I thought it was game over.
      Yes twitchy but they seem to be quite forgiving, look how many times I save the car and I’ve done 3 races now. They do exactly what you want, they’re predictable. I had 4 weekend old tyres on though and most other drivers have new tyres so that’s a big factor; 1 second difference at least

    • @wiscious
      @wiscious 9 месяцев назад

      @@ChapmansCorner true, looked like the car was predictable and forgiving. You always had time to catch it.
      Watching on it’s probably scarier because when driving you’re feeling it and it’s okay.
      If you consider hiring for a track day then let me know , it might help pay for new boots lol

    Hey man, im 16 and i rlly am struggling to try find my footing in motorsport due to cost issues. How do you afford it all? the transport, the car, the fuel, entries. I rlly wanna race for a career and im just looking for a bit of advice please.

    • @ChapmansCorner
      @ChapmansCorner  9 месяцев назад

      That’s the problem most people face. Check out my other video, how to get into F1000. I cover the basics, the main part is - are you karting yet? That is the cheapest and most common way into motorsport. All of the greats started there.
      I started at 31 and I have a good job. If I was you at 16, I would go karting as much as possible, get good, enter competitions and meet people. Then next season go to loads of car races and meet people in the pits, maybe get a job with a team whilst trying to improve driving

    • @Meeshka32
      @Meeshka32 23 дня назад

      Id go for plan B. Get a good career...make lots of money. Then be a gentleman racer on the bankroll. Realistically you are already 10 years late starting racing (in karts) and have almost no chance of any kind of professional career (unless very wealthy). I grew up with rallying in my family and friends who raced saloons very sucessfuly...and one who raced F5000 against the F1s greats in the 70s, he didnt make F1 for one main reason...no money. My old man told me racing was like burning bundles of £50 notes. Meantime go karting....even if its just occasional arrive-and-drive. It will teach you the racecraft and learn what its actually like wheel to wheel...and its nothing like you see on the telly on a Sunday. Its more fun...but you also get to pick up the pieces and the repair bills.
