  • My first race weekend in the F1000 at Croft circuit.
    Average speed of 93mph around this track, and a best lap of 1:20.84 which put me 15th fastest of 19.
    1:04 - Greenflag lap start
    1:50 - Race start
    5:01 - Pitstop
    Race 1 was a bit of a disaster to start (video to come) so I started race 2 on the back row of the grid which, to be fair, I was happy without the added pressure of being in the mix.
    Had a throttle cable issue from the start which got worse and eventually meant I had to pit, thinking it was terminal and my race over. Big thank you to the Mittell Team engineers who performed a pitstop mid race, fixed the issue and got me back out in under 3 minutes so I could finish the race.

    Luv the channel! I started watching your latest videos, but now I'm watching your older stuff too.
    Awesome to see your path on this super cool car!
    Good luck!
    BTW : It was unfortunate to have the throttle stuck but it was cool to see a pit stop :)

      Thanks! It’s only been a year but a lot has happened in that time.
      Agreed, shame there were issues but how often do you get a full pitstop AND the camera just happens to be facing the car. Awesome to happen on my first race

    Why would you stabilize the image sideway… the camera not looking straight ahead on a turn is extremely offputting😅

      A few people have said the same thing! I’ve adjusted the settings for this weekend, thanks for the feedback 😁 let’s see if it looks better or if it’s too shaky. It’s all a learning curve

    You need to use your brakes to get the front end to stick and rotate better.. I raced for five years. I've won 212 trophies.. and I'm in the hall of Fame at Talladega... learn to transfer the weight using your brakes.. this takes awhile to learn these tricks.. and also mark out the track.. good drivers use marks on the tracks for braking and where you need to be on line... good luck and have fun

      Great advice! I’m definitely not confident on the brakes yet, hate that it’s right foot. Thanks very much!

      @@ChapmansCorner brakes are hard to learn.. you have this gut instinct to hit the brakes when your going into a corner fast.. try this.. you can practice it on a sim from I racing.. turn down the volume of the motor to almost nothing and turn the tire volume all the way up.. you'll hear it better.. here's the trick.. you can't use your eyes to figure this out.. use something on the side of the track like a tree or a branch. Or a black tire mark.. but that's what fast drivers use.. you'll never just judge it.. but at that mark you hit the brakes so hard you just about lock up.. slowly release the brakes until the Apex.. then throttle out.. if you do this right the front will stop that oversteering.. this is one of the hardest tricks to get down.. but if you learn how to do it. You'll run closer to the front..

      @@ChapmansCorner here's a secret.. no really good race car driver judges his braking based on feel.. it doesn't work like that.. take a cone and place it at the front of a corner.. as you brake later move the cone forward. It's your marker.. when you finally have the cone at the last moment to brake find a mark on the track.. use that mark as your cone.. do this to every corner.. it will keep you consistent and fast.. all good drivers mark out the track.. but that's how you practice.. have a friend move the cone closer and closer until you can't make the corner... Mark it and move to the next.. that's the best trick I could give you.. practice rotating the car like I said with brakes.. you'll get fast really quick... have fun man!

      I raced for 60 years. I've won over 2 million trophies. And I'm in the World Hall of Fame as the best driver in the Universe. Learn to use your right foot, on the gas pedal, to make the car go. Use either your right or left foot, on the brake pedal, to make the car slow down or stop. Learn to transfer your feet from one pedal to the other. Good drivers always use these two pedals.

      'you can't use your eyes to figure this out.. use something like a tree or branch.' Are you mental? How do you use a tree or branch as a market without using your eyes? You're full of BS fella.

    Looks sooooo fun driving those beasts, how much does a F1000 cost aproximately?

    • @dewilarieldiazbonilla3629
      @dewilarieldiazbonilla3629 Год назад +2

      should be something about 35k

    • @ChapmansCorner

      Most fun I've ever had.
      I will be doing a video in the next few weeks on cost breakdown, but there are 2 main ways of doing it - arrive and drive with a team or buying the car.
      I am arrive and drive currently, which is ~£1300 per day for the car rental and then you will have test day (~£300) or race entry fees (~£450) on top. Race weekends are usually a test day and 1/2 race days, so is often ~£4.5k for 3 days. You pay for damages, but not for mechanical failures.
      As an owner using a team to run the car, you pay significantly less per day for engineering support (

    Not great but hopefully you will get better, pick you marks in the corners and learn to roll the corners. Much faster this way and not so hard on the tires.

    • @ChapmansCorner
      @ChapmansCorner  Год назад

      Cheers! Defo getting better with more seat time. Can you explain “roll the corners?” I know I am half guessing my turning points, jerking the wheel quickly and the adjusting if it’s wrong, rather than smooth equal inputs. Is that what you mean?
      I was very rough on my tyres last weekend at Silverstone (check out the latest video to see the difference) and it was because of driving through understeer messed them up. I learned to adjust that but they were already cooked

      @jefflynch9559 Год назад +1

      Hello@@ChapmansCorner when you come to a corner lift off the throttle as you enter from the outermost side turn into the corner and then apply throttle leaving the corner. The corners will get smooth and it will save alot on tires.
