Harris County Deputies Fire at Man Pointing BB Gun

Harris County, Texas - On March 20, 2024, at approximately 10:48 p.m., Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 911 call in the 17100 block of Sunshine Street in East Harris County. The caller reported that their neighbor was banging on their front door and asking the caller to shoot him. Deputies met with a caller, who told them his neighbor had returned to his own home. Three deputies approached the suspect identified as 41-year-old Trevor Krohn sitting inside his garage. Krohn yelled to the deputies to stay back and that he had a gun. The deputies then repeatedly asked Krohn to come out of the garage without the gun and talk to them. Krohn refused to comply. Krohn then showed the gun to the deputies as he closed his garage door and went inside the house with other family members.
Using a loud speaker, the deputies continued communication with Krohn, asking him to surrender. Krohn's wife and daughter exited the home and told the deputies that their newborn baby was still inside. Krohn then opened the garage door and and pointed a handgun at the deputies. Two deputies fired their weapons multiple times and continued verbally commanding Krohn to drop his weapon. Krohn then complied and was taken into custody without further incident. No one including Krohn was injured. The deputies entered the home and ensured that the baby was unharmed. The handgun that Krohn aimed at the deputies was later determined to be a BB replica gun that looked like a real gun. Homicide Investigators subsequently charged Krohn with two felony counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant. Krohn was booked into the Harris County Jail.

When you add someone with a gun who is not complying with officers' commands and who isn't standing still like a paper target and on top of that add the surge of adrenalin pumping through their system, It is no wonder why even well-trained officers miss. 🤷♂️
@@brad_Ca who said the targets were static,you can easily do movement drills and have the targets move.if the environment is realistic enough it can significantly improve the marksmanship of the cop or anyone for that matter.
I get that each call will always be different and you're going to have to adjust accordingly but this training will be invaluable when it counts
They need muzzle discipline, how to arrest a suspect without pointing your sidearm at your comrade, and range time.
They need the police equivalent of re-doing boot camp.

Not all ranges though are equipped with moving targets, some ranges only have static targets but they can usually be moved for distance and that's it. Unfortunately, so many people out there still want to defund the police and training is a big part of a PD’s budget. Then those very same defund advocates do nothing but complain about the police when they mess up. This puts officers in a no win scenario, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. What are they to do?

Our police departments need better training. They missed seven shots, at short to medium range; then when his partner goes in to cuff the suspect, he flags him. Unbelievable.

He was looking to off himself, not his family. I believe it was the cops who ushered the woman and older daughter out. Wasn't mom's decision to leave the baby I don't think. Besides, baby probably slept through the whole thing and didn't even notice. Best case scenario.

He’s got to know that if the suspect does anything he’s :
A. Going to be shot also
B. Going to be on his own and not covered at all.

The way officers detain them is so bad. They need more training. They didn't tell the suspect to turn around, get down, and interlock his hands behind his head and not to mention the crossfire if they suspeft would have fought.

California business owners and their employees are legally allowed to possess a loaded and concealed firearm while working on company property without any kind of permit being required as per California Penal Code Sections 25605(a) and 26035... These laws also cover your home as well as other private properties.
