El Paso, Texas - On March 5, 2024, at approximately 1:08 a.m., an officer with the El Paso Police Department approached a vehicle parked at a carwash on the 5800 block of Donaphin Drive. The officer made contact with a male subject identified as 30-year-old Micheal Estrada who was seated in the driver seat of the vehicle. Estrada can be heard identifying himself, while telling the officer he is frustrated and having car trouble. Estrada told the patrol officer he was living in his car after the officer asked him for an ID. The officer asks Estrada several times to exit the vehicle, telling him to calm down.
Estrada became uncooperative with the officer and stated he had a gun on his person. The officer continued to tell Estrada to show his hands to which the suspect did not comply. He continued making threats toward the officer. The video then shows the officer firing his weapon several times. The officer called reported shots were fired, and called for first unit to help and for emergency medical services. Estrada was pronounced deceased at the scene. Whether Estrada actually had a handgun, which is not visible in the video, has not been disclosed as it is part of ongoing investigations into the shooting.

That officer deserves an award for how well he kept his composure!
Seems to me that he egged the situation on. I need more context of why the cop was insistent on getting the ID and then telling him to get out. If he was just driving by and stopped, then this is very unjustified. You see the dude is homeless and car is broken down, ok cool go along with your patrol. If they received a call of a stolen vehicle and that's the reason he stopped, totally different story. Since he was just barking to give him an ID and step out of the car without communicating any reason to do so other than 'because I said so,' I'm very hesitant to say he "did a good job"
@@Football_Fan_20it's obviously a stolen car dude 😂 stick to football
@@Football_Fan_20he was conducting an investigation which he is legally allowed to do. Most people don’t start their cars by touching wires together. If it was his car, he could have survived this encounter by simply complying. ID which matches the registration goes a long way in satisfying one’s suspicion that the vehicle is not stolen. Contrary to popular belief, police officers may conduct investigations to dispel their articulable suspicion that a crime has been or is being committed. Failure to comply by definition is obstruction. Once he clearly threatened the officer, he bought a ticket to jail but decided that he’d rather visit the morgue. I would speculate that he had a warrant and did not want to produce ID or the car was in fact stolen.
@@Football_Fan_20either way it’s pretty clear he saw the gun, and then the guy confirmed it was a gun, which is a bad thing to say to a cop while holding it…to me it almost looks like a suicide by cop…clearly he knew he wasn’t gonna draw without getting shot. @@amandaburleson2035 Being alone, with no partner, and repeatedly threatened with death by a noncompliant subject . . . what else can the officer do? The subject‘s threats are a felony and he needs to be arrested. The officer doesn’t have a free hand, nor can he risk the distraction, of calling for backup. The officer can’t go back to his car and turn his back on the subject.
It’s a sad outcome. But the officer can’t allow a person who claims to have a gun, refuses to drop the gun, and threatens to kill him multiple times- to get the drop on him and make it a two-way gunfight. That would be tactically irresponsible- especially to the public who is the subject’s potential backstop.

I'm trying to figure out why the cop initiated a contact. Him sitting there with his hood up isn't a crime nor does it mean 4th amendment probable cause so there has to be a backstory. If I was just broke down or working with my car somewhere I would politely decline and if he tried to escalate or Force an issue when every cop knows you need 4th amendment probable cause standard to even conduct a lawful Terry stop I'd tell him to go f*** himself and we can do this dance as far as you want to go. There's too many cops abusing The authority with Terry stops and wellness checks and all this b******* wiping their ass with the Fourth amendment and our grandfathers did not get scattered all over Normandy and Omaha Beach and Utah Beach to hand it over to a bunch of zealots back home.
