I agree that you SHOULD be able to leave your car or house unlocked, but there is a big difference between what you SHOULD be able to do and what you CAN do. Sticking with the 'I have a Right to leave my stuff unsecured' is just asking for trouble and a sure sign of stupid!

@@garyjackson3531 - Nobody is giving the criminal a free-pass to do their crimes. But the 'victim' does need to take some responsibility for their own security. Leaving valuables in an unlocked vehicle or leaving your home doors and windows unsecured is just asking for trouble and certainly is not a very wise thing to do. It is especially moronic for those that do those things because they believe that they 'have the 'Right' to do stupid stuff', even when they know it's going to bite them in the butt.
Rule # 1. Never unlock your car. Rule # 2., Use car alarm.
