I'm probably going to order one of these. I really like the od green aluminum handle and satin blade. I would really like to see a better steel option though. I know this sounds weird, but I'm probably going to mirror polish the blade. For some reason I just feel like it would look really nice with the green handle and a big, shiny blade. Also just a note, I think that the lock only prevents the knife from closing. I watched another video and one of the things they talked about was that the lock doesn't actually lock the knife shut.
@@edcmag1 that would make more sense than locking shut on a flipper. In my state I can carry autos with pretty much no length limit provided they have a single edge and I'm not planning on using it for self defense but for whatever reason I'm not all that interested in them. Lots of people still have a weird impression of autos. My boss really hates my ultratech so I don't ever carry it. I think I'm going to sell it and buy one of these X5's. Lol I'm sure he'll like that one too 🤣
@@mikecurry6847 I agree. The whole purpose of a lock button on an auto is to keep you from bumping into something and having it accidentally deploying in your pocket. That will eat your pocket, and possibly your nuts, alive.
@@mikecurry6847 What you’ll learn is the “auto” and non look the same. Same button. I think it saves them on production. I’m not an auto fan either. Seriously one of the coolest USA made blades you can buy for the money👍
@@edcmag1 honestly I'm not sure why I've even put it off this long. I just ordered a 4" in OD green. Here's to hoping Natchez doesn't take forever to ship it. They were the only ones with that color in 4" in stock for some reason
5:47 - my biggest complaint with almost all Hogue knives and what is a massive aesthetics turn off for me, is that bloody hole in the tang of the blade. Check out the ExA05 at 5:47 - you can see it sticking out from the handle, its the hole for the button lock bar, from a design point of view its a massive oversight, how Hogue ever allowed this to leave the factory like that baffles me, they know it too because they've photoshop it out of their pics. It also shows their inconsistency too because some knives its more prominent than others.
Nice! The only Hogue I have is the Ritter ‘Grip’ which is quite well made compared to the Benchmades (which are pretty darned good too). I’ve been close to buying assorted variants of this on several occasions. Your enthusiasm might just be the final push yo getting one.
Thanks for the vid man. Are you still rocking these? I got the harpoon 3.5 on the sig version. I am thinking of getting the wharncliff in 3.5 auto. Do you think 4.0 in would be better?
I always pick these up when I find a good deal on them. Currently not rocking them. Focused on other knives. My preference is always a 4" blade but that's just me. Go with what's comfortable for you!

The lock actually gives you the option of locking it shut on the auto versions.

I've been curious about this brand. And these are beautiful examples.
Excellent review, Nik.
Nice review, Nik. Love the look of these knives.

Yeah. That's kind of irritating. I agree.

Give it a shot. I definitely think they are worth the investment. Plenty of options too.
