Cool looking knife. I agree that CPM-154 is a good steel for knives. Love how the hand locks in. I’m definitely going to check this one out. Thanks for the review 👍
Great review. After watching your 5 knives video and your comments on the Hogue, I've been looking at the microswitches. I'm really liking these knives. May just have to order one.
I got the X1 Microflip Wharncliffe about a year ago. It’s hands down the best pocketknife I’ve ever had. Better than anything I’ve ever had from Benchmade/SOG/Kershaw/Spyderco/etc... The quality is outstanding and the factory edge is the best I’ve ever seen. First blade I’ve ever had that came with a better edge than I’m capable of and I’m hardly a knife guy. Been thinking about one of these as a big brother to my Microflip.
I think the people complaining about cpm-154 are confusing it with 154cm. Otherwise what's to complain about? It's in the same range as s30v and s35vn.
I bought the EX-01 4" Tanto Black G-mascus and I love it so much just received it a few days ago, it just middle finger flicks open and drops shut everything is so smooth it's insane, received the pouch and sticker which was a nice surprise, looking at reviews on this model X5 to see opinions before getting one, but definitely the Sig Emperor Scorpion model ether the gold and black or gunmetal great review as always thanks oh if you haven't checked out the EX-01 you really should it is just plain awesome
Just ordered it. After much research this is the only knife company that fits my criteria. A high quality U. S. Made folder knife from a company that ONLY sells US made knives and under $200. To my knowledge this is the only option right now.
I hate this knife so bad. The handle is ridiculously uncomfortable. I have large hands. I think it would be better for smaller hands. Just got it but it's already going up for sale on eBay. So disappointed. Still plan to try out some of their other designs. Quality is excellent.
Thank you for comparing this to knives people have like the PM2/3. When people do knife size comparisons, not sure why they don’t automatically go to the PM2/3 and the Griptilian/Mini. Going to get this one in blue!
I feel you on the blade steel. cpm154 steel is a fine steel. I get the same ribbing for my personal favorite steel Elmax. Not sure why everyone dislike Elmax so much. I have 5 knives with Elmax and to be honest if I see a knife with Elmax it sparks an interest in me automatically. I have so many knives and in every steel you could imagine so it's not like I don't have experience with all kinds of steels. P.s. if you would like to review the EXO1 in 4" aluminum scales let me know. I'd be happy to lend you mine. But be warned it's the best one they make imho.
I have this, but in the other blade shape. I love it, but I must have received the only one ever made that wasn't real sharp outta the box. Strange....Seems ppl either love this or hate it. Nick was pretty clear about hating it. lol. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Nice video.
Nice! I really like the potential in Hogue and their usage of the button lock (pretty well it seems) but a lot of their designs are a bit too radical for me. I'd love it if they went for a really boring, vanilla folder. I bet it'd sell well. Any experience disassembling this guy?
Not sure what you mean by boring but they have quite a few Designs that are typical handles and blade shapes. I usually go for a deep belly drop point myself and they have them.
I busted my butt to find one of these without the coated blade, when they were first released. The edge came polished, but dull. The handle is so full of hot spots it hurts to use. I like the knife, but it is hard to use.
“But I’m not a gun guy”?? Whaaaat!? Knives & guns are like PBnJ. Prob a good thing for your wife & wallet, however 😬 Being addicted to both like I am is no bueno for the bank account 😳😂. On a serious note, love the vids & you should seriously consider becoming a firearm owner if you aren’t already. I’m real big on self defense/self responsibility & in today’s climate, a knife isn’t going to cut it. Average response time to a 911 call is between 9 & 10 minutes. IF they even come at all. You don’t have to be a gun fanatic to be a responsible gun owner & first responder. Millions & millions across the globe wish they could be armed. Ain’t trying to be political in any way. I just think all Americans (who can legally be) should be armed, should know how to safely clear a firearm & should know the 4 Basic Rules of Gun Safety. Alright, that’s me off my Pro2A soapbox & thanks for the great knife vids 👊🏼😎. BTW: I bought the Hogue Sig EX-02 w the walnut grips. Perfectly matches my Sig P938 SAS daily carry which also has Hogue walnut grips 😍 Hogue actually makes all of Sig Sauer’s grips & just stamps Sig instead of Hogue on them. Hogue knives & grips are very impressive. God Bless! - Pete 🇺🇸🗽
They look cool production is good . BUT. I have sent my knife in twice detent is not good. Machining and quality is awesome customer service is not good. 41 email sent since my first return. That was around may 26th. It's almost July now.
WOW! Hogue has soooo many configurations on this bad boy! Thanks for the review, it's a knife that I would not have found on my own....

@@DK-jd8bj i almost felt the same when i held it but not horrible. wondering if the 4inch one has a bigger handle

CPM154/154cm is possibly my favorite blade steel also.
My question is, with the addition of a spring, can it be made automatic?Anyone?
Beautiful blade and I agree if it's not an auto no need for the lock. If Hogue released that with a 3' blade I'd want one.
That's KINDA the X1 but there are some differences.
A 3-foot long blade would be overkill, don’t ya think? (Sorry, pet peeve of mine.)

I was thinking Batman's knife before I heard you say it. You're right, there's nothing wrong with CPM 154.

Nick also thought it was assisted and it isn't. I get why you'd think so, but it isn't.
I just got it and I hate it. This is definitely for small-to-medium hands. Quality is excellent however.
Hey Slicey!

Why does it look like an automatic? There's like 3 buttons on it lol. It's deceiving.

It’s very comfortable for my hands.
I agree. My little finger won't fit on it. Very uncomfortable for large hands.

I didn't receive any case, stickers , oil, anything.
They hand hone all blades
I like this but bc I’m BATMAN
