I have the X-5 and it's great. I recently ordered the EX-03 because I wanted something more lightweight and ergonomic. The X5 is a massive looking knife and fun to use as a flipper.
That is a heavy duty knife. I have the Ritter Hogue RSK Mk1 and the mini version. They are great knives and great values! I carry the mini every day at work. The blade is great. It is easy to open and close quickly. They are great USA made knives!
I bought the Ex-a01 half serrated tanto. It's an amazing knife! Not a big fan of serrations, but it's so well done and I got it at a great price. Thanks Aaron!
I have wondered about these knives for a long time. I was afraid to try one out as I had heard no reviews and the price is so much lower than Benchmade, whose quality has been slipping a little of late. These seem like just the type of design I have been wanting. Thanks, Aaron!
#gideonstactical Hey Aaron, great review as usual! The prices now are running about $135 for the 3.5" and $152 for the 4". Do u still think they are a good value at that price point? $110 seems fine, but i think the current price seems high.
Been collecting knives for 15 years and over the last 4 months I’ve bought my 1st two hogue the micro flip and the EX0-5 both in cpm 154 great steel love the flipping action and lockup great knives had to go with the versions in cpm154 instead of 154cm. Cpm154 is tougher and holds a better edge than 154cm there both good steels but ones just plain better great video 👍✌️.
I'm a huge Hogue fan and have many of their products on my firearms. I was wondering about their knife's. Those are some cool looking blades, but i wonder how durable they are and reliable too. Great review bro.
I appreciate your enthusiasm... I really like the looks/design, etc. I'm not a blade steel snob, but I won't pay $130-150 for 154-CM. Enjoy your channel!
I just started looking into Hogue and I'm impressed with the quality. I am interested in the Micoswitch Auto Warncliffe as I live in CA. and work as a maintenance tech. Not many reviews on that one yet!
Hogue locking mechanism works well. Pocket knives are not ment to be used a fixed blades. The triad lock is a strong locking mechanism, but it is not needed especially for a EDC folder. Sounds like Cold Steel's marketing campaign got a few suckers. You people are really missing out on some great folders with that type of mindset. My spyderco Paramilitary 2 in Cruwear is out of this world awsome, thier compression lock is more than strong enough to handle any EDC task.
Hi Arron, hope your doing well if you had to pick only one blade between the Tangram Santa Fe and the Ka-Bar Doizer which one? Also have you ever looked at the CRKT Squid? If so what do you think? CRKT is offering the Squid with a Copper scale on one side as a promotion for $39.99 with 12c27 sandvik steel plus being a VET I get 25% off. So what do you think? As always I value your opinion
Hey Aaron, I always enjoy your videos. You do such a great job reviewing every product giving us consumers the ability to make smart decisions. I want this for my EDC... Is there a big difference between the 3.5 inch and 4 inch version when it’s in your front pocket? Keep up the great work
Just saw your Video on these; I didn't know about these... I have a couple on order... They are on sale at the KnifeCenter.com, for Labor Day Weekend... Great Video; I learned a lot. I ordered the EX-03 & the EX-01. Both, are the Black Tanto Versions. I'll do a Video on them. Thanks for turning me on to these; I know I will love them; they look like some really cool Tanto Folders. Peace, Stiletto :-)
Gruggs I own both knives and the hogue is just a smoother faster opening more comfortable knife cold steels great for the money probably the best in folders but if u can why not spend a little more or save up and just get a better knife in my favorite steel cpm154 which is a super steel and shouldn’t be confused with 154cm just my opinion.
Cold steel is not American made. Hogue is premium all American made knife. There a reason why Hogue makes Doug Ritter, HK and Sig knives along with many other.
Erica Ortega, mine is doing this from time to time as well. Cleaning the plunge lock and lubing the button and plunge seem to help, but I eventually seem to have the same issue again. Have you found a fix yet?
Ok, I just got an ex01 and I'm trying to figure out how to get those 3 brass screws out the pocket clip screwholes to change the clip to tip up carry. Any help would be appreciated
@@gideonstactical what size because I got the actual pocket clip screws out with a t8 but those 3 brass screws in the screw holes where you would screw them in to.make the clip tip up have a strange slot in them that my torx won't fit?
If you know someone that’s talented with a airbrush or someone who does automotive painting as a profession you could take your life and to have it painted. I would only take it to someone that knows what they are doing. Perhaps if you have a batch and Ives you want to all be the same color you could even buy a pint of automotive paint the color you would like and have someone pick them for you at Meiko
Yea Brother i just got the 4 inch version and i had no idea Hogue got down like this its a tactical fanboy knife implementing high-end materials with practical fanboy aesthetics if you run knives you need this one if you collect knives you need this one!
I have the X-5 and it's great. I recently ordered the EX-03 because I wanted something more lightweight and ergonomic. The X5 is a massive looking knife and fun to use as a flipper.
Love the look of these hogues. The EX01 as well
That is a heavy duty knife. I have the Ritter Hogue RSK Mk1 and the mini version. They are great knives and great values! I carry the mini every day at work. The blade is great. It is easy to open and close quickly. They are great USA made knives!
Houge & Elishewitz is a winnng combination. He is my favorite designer of blades.
I bought the Ex-a01 half serrated tanto. It's an amazing knife! Not a big fan of serrations, but it's so well done and I got it at a great price. Thanks Aaron!
I know I'm late but I got the 4 inch on Amazon in March 2021 for 75 bucks I don't know why it was so cheap now they want 169. I love this knife.
Man I love the 3.5 inch blade. The EX-01 has to be the best looking in my opinion.
That and the EX-04 (with the "banana" blade, not that awful tanto shape) are the ones I like. Maybe in the future you could also review that one?
ruclips.net/video/g-xfdZdNYEI/видео.html - That awful tanto shape is a very, very well thought out design.
I just bought an Off Grid Flipper Knife from Amazon $87.00, Coyote color, plain edge. Love it!!!!
I have wondered about these knives for a long time. I was afraid to try one out as I had heard no reviews and the price is so much lower than Benchmade, whose quality has been slipping a little of late. These seem like just the type of design I have been wanting. Thanks, Aaron!
Ordered the k320 with the able lock over this model, they seem very similar so the EX03 may not be bought, tough call though.

Jerry Johnson II if you love there firearm product you will LOVE there knives.
Carried for 10 years. Do yourself a favor and pick one up.
A small update: they’ve recently discontinued the 4” variant, get them while you can!
I do like them. They have a great fidget appeal. I do like the 4 inch blade. I am getting a little sick of sub 3" blades.
Kind of makes me think of the Cold Steel American Lawman.
I appreciate your enthusiasm... I really like the looks/design, etc. I'm not a blade steel snob, but I won't pay $130-150 for 154-CM. Enjoy your channel!
It's hard to beat at that price. Won't find much of a workhorse that's USA made for the value either🤷♂️
That price seems high for 154cm to me. You can get a Benchmade Freek in S30v for less than that.
I just bought one of these at a gun store that was closing for $40
Video just published, but can't seem to find that 110.00 price. Bummer!
I just started looking into Hogue and I'm impressed with the quality. I am interested in the Micoswitch Auto Warncliffe as I live in CA. and work as a maintenance tech. Not many reviews on that one yet!
Review the new microtech socom elite manual 2018!
Love the lockup! Nice satin finish too.
Yup i own 2 and they're awsome. Yes G.T. preach brotha cause ive been sayin they're excellent
Their sig line matches the sig fire arms to spek. Look it up on hogue if im not mistaken. Luv hogue 100 percent USA made.
I t kind of reminds me of the Benchmade Stryker , very good review as all ways!
cold steel recon 1 seems to be a better option ,price ,steel, safer, unless the fidget factor is deal breaker
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Or the American Lawman.
I think the Hogues are American made. Cold Steels are made overseas. One reason for the price difference.
No tri-ad lock no go for me.

I love my Hogue EX 03
This knife looks great. However I like the EX-01 look better.

Been eyeing these for a while, never pulled the trigger though
I'm with you. Nice knife. Likely to pick this one up soon.
Nice review, but really having trouble with those reflective glasses...
If a Protech fell from a tree and got ran over by a semi, it'd still fire with authority :)
To big in the pocket unless you wear painter pants 24X7 and that pocket clip causes hot spots but excellent steel for the money.
Been dying to get an x1. Wish they had an frn version to make it cheaper.
Surago just got the ex1 and ex5 great blades can’t go wrong.
Nice review, very thorough
Expensive knives when you can get a Cold Steel Recon spear point for WAY less....

Just got a brand new Houge knife. Did you have any issues disengaging plunge lock? Mine is sticking.

@@gideonstactical ok disregard my previous comment just discovered the screws are supposed to screw into those brass rivets
You just switch the clip. The brass doesn't come out
If you want it down there are screw holes in the bolster plates, if you want tip up put it opposite. The threaded brass bushings are pressed in
Since SIG is my go to rifle I wish I did not see this and yet I am elated

Meh. I’d be interested in a 3” blade version.
X1-microflip is the same knife with 2.75" blade
Yea Brother i just got the 4 inch version and i had no idea Hogue got down like this its a tactical fanboy knife implementing high-end materials with practical fanboy aesthetics if you run knives you need this one if you collect knives you need this one!
It is an excellent blade for sure. But it isnt forme look wise
I have not seen you so happy about a review in a long time lol they look super thin to me looks like they may break easily
Ok so lefties say look at all the cool stuff on the wrong side of the knife
Not a good value at all, and, though I sometimes tolerate them, the manual safety detracts from the design.
