Can someone explain what the Gravemind meant when he said "I am a monument to all your sins"? Before looking into the EU I assumed it was that the flood was created by humanity. To a degree I suppose it's true since they recovered the dust and started trying to utilise it but really isn't the flood the fault of the Forerunners for trying to destroy the Precursors?
I’m late but I guess it’s because the Master chief killed so many things and the flood got it and turned it into biomass so they became part of the gravemind.
Thank you for these lore videos. I enjoy video game lore and your series has been great so far! I had no idea about any of this. I’m excited to go back to the games once I finish this series
anyone else think they should make a halo where you play as the person that activated the rings (chiefs first form) where you have to fight your way to a base then rally troops and form the ark while locking down planets and collecting DNA then it ends when you have to make the ultimate sacrifice pulling the lever "destroying the flood"?
Mendicant isn't something Cortana can just get a hold of, not even The Forerunners could control him, he joined the flood on his own choice, Mendicant makes his own choices and is self aware it's why they made Offensive Bias and didn't give Offensive free will like Mendicant because free will can be a bad thing for an AI to have (Terminator for example give AI free will and intelligence greater then the persons who made it, well you're asking for bad shit to happen) Mendicant after years and years of being left to only think of what he did and the consequences brought on by he betrayal, at this point he'd try to fix what he did by joining the flood and join the Reclaimers aka Humans, so it'd be stupid for Cortana to try, it'll end with her lowering her odds of winning.
That would be a stalemate haha, also, flood can convert inmune creatures into biomass anyways, to make pure forms, which are stronger than any combat form
My question: How did the indexed species and the last forerunners escape the neuron destroying waves of the halos? I mean, can it be shielded? If so, then the flood should have known, having consumed so much knowledge and biomass
The Didact was suspended in stasis. And nothing survived. The forerunners programmed AI's to reseed the galaxy with life utilizing the species indexed by the Librarian. The Gravemind's biomass was left immobilised by the halo array firing because it specifically shuts down the nervous system, thus while it knew, without the ability to pilot ships or travel because it had no hosts it went dormant. Also the Gravemind on Delta Halo was formed a few thousand years after the firing of the halos by some unknown but probably extragalactic species meddling on the ring.
So wait if Medicant Bias was put on the Ark isn't Offensive Bias their too and could he have a part or will play a role in Halo Wars 2. And I mean both Medicant and Offensive Bias.
We don't know what happened to Offensive Bias after the array was fired. In Rebirth he was never mentioned. As far as we know he was deconstructed, not likely but possible. They, in a way, fixed mendicant bias by locking his processes and never allowing him the kind of freedom he once had...only atonement... Bornstellar - "You are brought here to be sentenced. Should you be needed you will be reawakened, should there be no need you will be buried here until the end of living time"
maybe but he hasn't been brought up since Halo 3 and that was through the terminals. We all know he will have a huge roll to play when the flood eventually returns...and not return as "breaking out of containment" i mean popping in from outside the galaxy.

It was supposed to kill everything with a nervous system so that killed everything except the flood parasite itself and the spores it was supposed to kill all of the flood hosts and starve the parasites which would mean there's nothing producing the flood spores but that obviously didn't work completely with flood on the halo arrays
It basically starves the flood on a system (the whole galaxy) scale and weakens the flood to the point where they really need to eat and they die quickly after (those that survive the rings firepower). This is my old understanding of the rings power, I am trying to catch up on lore before infinite drops
The Primordial is half gravemind AND Precursor right? And precursors ground themselves up which became the flood right? What if to become a precursor, you start from the bottom, skip ahead cause its too much, from gravemind to keymind, but what if the next stage, is the Precusor? Now that right there, would be crazy
i don't know if this correct but this is what i got 0:18 "you were fast successful last time keep it up" 3:02 "all will be reset" 4:41 "sierra is our last hope" 6:15 "or our nal failure" ?
Can anyone clarify this for me? I was confused at the part when Omega Halo fired. Do the Halos actually kill Flood specifically, or do they simply kill sentient life and "starve them" as stated in the original games?
Yes, but in this video I got the impression that Omega Halo fired some sort of "beam" that fried the Flood directly in front of it, almost like a Death Star laser that only targets Flood. I'm not saying that is what happened, that's just what it sounded like in the video.
Jhan919 Well, Omega Halo was the first, back when the forerunner's thought they could kill the flood completely with their fleets and all that. The other Halos were devoted to starving it. I thought you were talking about the array, not Omega, sorry about that.
What happened to the forerunners on the Ark? And if the flood had been defeated by the combination of the halo rings and offensive bias why did they not retake the galaxy?
Mendicant is still locked away. But two of his pieces could have been reconnected when high charity landed on the ark. Mendicant was trying to contact chief during halo 3 through the terminals.
Is there a way to reverse the flood - sort of like a cure. Like the precursor flood (original ones) became that dust again somehow might be able to resurrect as Precursors or is that just a stretch of logic?
No the canisters of powder were corrupted. What was suppose to happen was those that turned into this powder form were suppose to recompose themselves at a later date..but after almost 9 million years..that wasn't the case. The only hope of the precursors coming back is if some (as told in the novels) truly did flee beyond the forerunner's reach.
Honestly no idea, we know next to nothing about the Precursors so it's all just a guessing game. Before Ancient Humanity were eradicated, they were working on a cure but it was destroyed along with them, so who knows how far down the line they were. The Primordial did say the Flood is incurable, however, but it may have just been saying that to incite fear in the Forerunners.
You are right that they were working on a cure but if we remember - the flood retreated... it gave the impression that it was cured by humanity. They played the long game and when the forerunners saw that humans had successfully beat the flood or appeared to beat them. The forerunners went after humanity and their knowledge of the flood when the flood returned. Now it is possible that the Primordial lied but seeing as he had nothing to gain in the matter it would have made sense for him to break the spirit of the forerunners because he knew in the end...they'd have to pull the trigger and destroy themselves and every living being in the galaxy. The only thing that's got me confused is the gravemind had mentioned that the organon and by extension the domain would be destroyed when the array fired... so after 100,000 years either SOMEONE is repairing it.. (that isn't cortana) or... the gravemind was wrong and it only severely damaged it and has been slowly healing over the last 100,000 years. Maybe the only reason why forerunners were allowed to use the domain was because there was an anchor type device (the organon) that allowed it to be projected in this dimension and without it, it only resides in slip space... i really wish 343 would elaborate on the domain and how it works.. as so much is left to the unknown
Great video as always! I was wondering what you think of Sgt. Stacker making more appearances in the halo series or maybe even becoming a main character since we know he still exists due to halo 4s level reclaimer.
Thanks dude :) Haha, good ol' Johnson... Man I'd do many things to get him back. I've said on Twitter before that I wouldn't even be mad if in Halo 6 he just randomly walks out of some smoke and instantly says "IT'S CLASSIFIED". Then everyone continues doing what they were doing before, except now with Johnson too, and nobody even bats an eye
11:10 Could someone please explain to me how the flood survived if the halo array belonging to the lesser arc fired and wiped out all sentient life in the galaxy? Thanks.
And so a once golden era has finally ended... now, to wait for a set of alien races to follow a false yet necessary ideology, for humanity to go back to the stars, and for the glorified space zombie dust motes to rise once more to the challenges at hand.

What if to become a precursor, you start from the bottom, skip ahead cause its too much, from gravemind to keymind, but what if the next stage, is the Precusor? Now that right there, would be crazy
Please make more of these types of videos! They are great!
i really loved watching this series mate I just fucking loved this and all the other vids man so please keep all your greatly amazing work up bruv.
The gravemind would not view kindly upon arbitrary 👍's quotas...
i don't know if this correct but this is what i got 0:18 "you were fast successful last time keep it up" 3:02 "all will be reset" 4:41 "sierra is our last hope" 6:15 "or our nal failure" ?
Right off the bat, a dark cold place.
The floods so gross and yet so badass
I just love the robotic lisp of the narration 😂
😳😳😳holy shit, that was insane... I love it! Well well done!!!
I really hope that you do a theory video on Human Weakness and H5/6. That would be amazing!
Can anyone clarify this for me? I was confused at the part when Omega Halo fired. Do the Halos actually kill Flood specifically, or do they simply kill sentient life and "starve them" as stated in the original games?
Jhan919 The halos are used to starve the flood. They kill sentient life, essentially starving it.
Ah ok. So it's just how the older Halos worked. Thanks for clearing that up, I haven't read the Forerunner Trilogy
Jhan919 I did a while ago, but I've forgotten a lot, except for the huge plot points.
WHY IS THIS NOT A MOVIE
If the rings can be set to local, why didn’t 343-guilty spark use that against the flood in CE?
What happened to the forerunners on the Ark? And if the flood had been defeated by the combination of the halo rings and offensive bias why did they not retake the galaxy?
Tempdoom I want to know what happened to the left over forerunners
Oh them. They went in exile so they wouldn't interfere with the galaxy again. They called it the great journey
Dark Omen Is that why the covenant made a mistake about the the Great Journey or the Halo.
Blugale Doh that's a good question, I literally never thought about that.
Basically forerruners flood war is basically daddy dearest ( mutated Precursor ) spanking his spoilt little brat( Forerruners ) to Oblivion
It was horrific Reclaimer,i will not forget that war
*We tried our best...*
What happened to mendicant after all that time? Or offensive?
Mendicant is still locked away. But two of his pieces could have been reconnected when high charity landed on the ark. Mendicant was trying to contact chief during halo 3 through the terminals.
What happened to the diaks? His clone and the original?
0:13 rip
God speed offensive bias 🫡
Index_ deserves a remake
Congrats for soon 16 000 subscribers (;
This sounds like this would be a fucken awesome halo game probably won't ever happened
Ryan Price ah makes more sense, thanks mate.
Offensive bias is the goat
Great video as always! I was wondering what you think of Sgt. Stacker making more appearances in the halo series or maybe even becoming a main character since we know he still exists due to halo 4s level reclaimer.
Thanks dude :) Haha, good ol' Johnson... Man I'd do many things to get him back. I've said on Twitter before that I wouldn't even be mad if in Halo 6 he just randomly walks out of some smoke and instantly says "IT'S CLASSIFIED". Then everyone continues doing what they were doing before, except now with Johnson too, and nobody even bats an eye
HiddenXperia - The home of Halo 5 lore videos! Something something radiation something something if 343 survived why couldn't he
11:10 Could someone please explain to me how the flood survived if the halo array belonging to the lesser arc fired and wiped out all sentient life in the galaxy? Thanks.
Do a what if on what would’ve happened if mendicant boss didn’t defect to the flood
And so a once golden era has finally ended... now, to wait for a set of alien races to follow a false yet necessary ideology, for humanity to go back to the stars, and for the glorified space zombie dust motes to rise once more to the challenges at hand.
Can you counter the logic plauge with an AI that is made to not care about anything and can't be convinced by anything or anyone?
They need to make a game about this
Intro: forerunners an intelligent species. Forerunners: lets hide the true nature of the flood from literally EVERYONE
Imagine a spin off game though
Wait why did the humans survive if they wiped out all sentient life in the universe?
Good job man!
Hey man think you could update the domain videos with better sound quality?
Lemme catch my son being forerunner
Birdman fan I see ya
So I found the fourth one, and it just says "or our nal failure"
So the new forerunner ai beat the old corrupted one? Where is it now? Is it still active?
his mic makes him sound like an installation monitor lol
Real quick... Which Didact is in Halo 4? The Didact or the IsoDidact? The Didact, right?
Ur-didact
So what happened to the Primordial?
Hidden love ur vids
Damn we thought human- Covenant had alot of blood jezzz 😯
Excellent video :)
Am i the only one who thinks he sounds like Bane from Batman in this Video ?
