Flood combat forms being zombies, no longer have the limitations imposed by self preservation mechanics. In the real world, your squishy human form is much stronger than you are. one thing: with UNSC explosive weapons (like with real military explosives) it isn't the heat that kills, it is the concussive blast itself. the biomass isn't being burned, it is being blown to unusable bits. (and real military explosives like grenades and rockets/missiles don't have a fireball when they go off, that is just added into games to make them look cooler)
P.s i thought it necessary to add (though unrelated to your video) that real life shotguns have a much longer range that video game shotguns (though they need to be short range in video games in

Nice video! But I had a few thoughts:
    1. Shotgun pellet velocity is extremely low relative to other bullets, so its not really a plus for it.
    2. For small scale explosives such as grenades and rockets, the heat probably would only contribute to surface burns, and is not the significant force that makes it dangerous. The concussive forces and shrapnel of the blast would do the most damage.
    3. Hoped you would have gone into detail about the Halo 4 Boltshot, which would be a terrific sidearm for combating the flood due to its dual firing modes.

when i actually played halo though, it was nothing like i had expected!
halo ce was completely different from all the other fps games from 2001,
all the other games were so slow and laggy (my pc is from 2001 too) and even when they didnt lag, the gameplay was not so smooth and felt kind of awkward
but halo was totally different, it was too much fun, the player movements were also smooth as hell and i couldnt put it down at all, finished the whole campain in one go, it was a masterpiece
one of my favourite things in halo was to jump towards a grunt and take it out with a melee attack, i call that the "predator dive" and its something that i have only been able to do in halo, i love this game

So many of these weapons were not made to counter flood it just happens that they were effective
The shotgun was not made to counter the flood, I'm pretty sure the spartan laser wasn't either but I suppose it's a possibility, any form of explosive even though it may be useful it was not made to counter the flood again, energy sword was not made to counter the flood, plasma rifle almost surely was not made to counter flood but again it's possible like the spartan laser, Bruteshot was not made to counter flood, spiker another possibility but it wouldn't make much sense due to ineffectiveness to an already dead target, fire greanade was likely made to counter flood, essentially all forerunner/promethean weapons were made to counter flood.

I always assumed the reason the weapons you listed worked so well on the flood compared to say an assault rifle or BR (still effective just not as much) was because those weapons basically punched a tiny hole through a body that couldn't give a shit less. But the others like the shotgun, sword, laser, and plasma rilfe have either spread out shots that basically blow off entire sections of the body or burn it to hell with plasma/laser. They just got lucky those weapons worked. The forerunners though definitely designed them around destroying biological matter

They also recovered data and materials from ship ruins to build the Hellcat class Mjolnir.
As for your question, the Ecumene likely broke down and recycled any Ancient Human tech and evidence of their civilization having existed, the Forerunners were kinda pricks like that. They might have kept some ancient human weapons to disassemble and study, since that was the one area that the Ancient Humans were not inferior to the Forerunners in
The Ur-Didact says in the books that Ancient Humanity, in collaboration with the San Shyuum, made weapons which the Forerunners, including his elite Promethean troopers, had no defense against, allowing them to partially-compensate for the ludicrous numerical advantage and tech superiority of the Forerunner forces.
As for ships, considering the Didact's Star-Hopping plan targeted only the most-important human worlds and used Slipspace superiority to paralyse the Human military and keep them from interfering as the Ecumene decapitated the empire at Charum Hakkor, and the fact that during the siege, there were San Shyuum resupply Armadas being cut off from aiding the world, do that means that human and San Shyuum forces were still present, and it's not unlikely that some would try to flee from the Forerunners when they learned that Charum Hakkor was doomed, likely outside the Galaxy, and if so, the fleets left behind, dormant or caught in the range of the Halo Array, might still be around.

Xperia Congratulations on 200k I love all the flood and their ICONIC evolutions of their Intelligence I just don't understand why the UNSC forces got rid of the flamethrowers from halo 3 from being used in halo 4 and 5 but if they want a new weapon to defeat the same parasites I think that Humanity and Sangeili organizations forces should work together and create some weapon to neutralize flood infection, I hope you keep making these videos until the end of time and keep up the amazing work :)

Ya, I'd stick to using long range weapons over swords and shotguns when possible, I mean, in reality you aren't normally rammed into a tiny corridor that runs ever onward, with only a few sightly wider sections in it here or there. And in reality, if there's flood in a building, we use explosives... on the building. No indestructible terrain to deal with out here IRL. I'd stick at range with a laser or beam weapon if possible that can be swept across areas, and also dispersed into a wide area lower power mode to scorch spores from an entire general area.
And you generally described not what was best at fighting the flood, but at breaking combat forms or such. If you run up to a flood, and shoot it with a shotgun, the infector and main body might be decently torn apart, but you're also scattering tons of its biomass and bits around, without an excellent personal shield/atmospheric unit, you and everyone around you are getting infected in that blast of blood, guts, and spores. Even if you are shielded, this is a much more troublesome area to burn/clean now than just one directly put down body initially. There's a difference between fighting that one enemy in front of you, and fighting the flood as a whole, which is how you have to see the flood.
IRL, various types of wide area radiation weapons like lasers, microwave guns, etc... would be used as a general perimeter defense all over to try and stop spores from getting around, you'd bombard the flood from a distance as much as possible, and for those that get closer having machineguns with exploding rounds, or anti aircraft trucks with airburst rounds to just blow apart any large waves of smaller targets at range or up close would be good. A lot more infantry would probably be used as mortar teams loading up white phosoporus or incidiary types of rounds to just create walls of fire that cover everything on the target, once again from a distance, and packing high temperature thermite or other munition charges into allied units so if they get "infected" they would auto burn away key components that normally require high precision/special materials to work. So something the flood even once organized can't readily fix without dedicated factory equipment or areas. If no allies in the area, blow all ammo as well, not just break the equipment on the infected unit. And information is key, swarms of small autonomous drones sending back video and other info on what's going on all around the flood area, and inside of it. A good first contact option on a planet would probably be orbital bombardment from a series of laser or plasma equipped satelites/ships to just scorch the entire infected core area away, even with local casualties. Then low powered cooking from those systems of nearby areas where humans might survive inside buildings but can't go out at least, while special military forces deploy and set up around them with the more dedicated sensors and weapons and cleaning systems to slowly scour inwards towards the previously destroyed core of the infection point.
Also, in general you need all of the special counters for when the enemy has equipment, like tanks, aircraft, ships, guns, etc... Ideally if it starts on a planet that planet should have way more total firepower at its disposal so should easily overwhelm the local flood pretty quickly with simply massed assault from everything, and if the flood didn't arrive on a hostile ship or something with armaments, then if locally designed equipment is made right the flood would have a hard time using your own weapons against you within any smaller period of time, making the initial flood outbreak much easier to combat when they can't capture and use most of your own forces equipment. Though with good enough armor and vehicles and weapons and sensors, flood not yet armed with special weapons would have almost no chance to kill such armed forces. I mean think of a tank. Just a modern tank, imagine hitting that with wip arms of a flood. Any armored surface is just not going to give a shit when hit by fleshy bits. You'll just break the fleshy bits. Now given enough mass, it can just try to deform and break stuff with enough raw energy and speed. Sure the flood organism destroys itself but giant flood tentacles could hit a tank pretty hard. But again, any target that big is normally easily countered by long range artillery or such. And if you have energy shielding, great, plasma shielding that's semi uncontained, so anything that hits/breaks through the outer magnetic field then gets bathed in super heated plasma is also a great counter against physical attacks especially by flood. So some changes to shield designs in halo setting could really help counter flood, though how easy/energy efficient such changes might be... who knows. I for one like the idea of my plasma sheild being a form of superheated reactive armor that blows away and incinerates anything that tries to punch me. Side effects might include increased recoil from smaller hits knocking the wearer back as well though. Best of used on people wearing heavy exoskeletons that can take a hit or two anyway.
Oh, and you'd also want some form of subterranean weapons. Like melta bombs stuck into little digging drones that can upon hitting a surface burrow down and then detonate turning the local ground into molten rock and stuff. Why? Because flood seem to enjoy getting everywhere to survive, and underground, in the porous dirt, seems like a place I'd expect a good number of spores and some infected organisms to try hiding when the artillery starts falling initially.

Be nice to see Sanghelie created energy shortswords designed exclusively for Spartans, that look like the ones shown on the old Heroic and Ledendary difficulty symbols but plasma based.

The shotgun saw first use in the 1960's...oh no sir, not even close. Pump action shotguns saw first mass use in 1917 during WW1. The US military used a modified model 1897 Winchester shotgun to great effect. The weapon was so absolutely brutal that the Germans tried to have their use in the trenches banned...we told them to go pound sand. They also have enjoyed wide spread use in American civilian life and law enforcement applications. I myself own a Mossberg Persuader 12 ga. w/16' barrel (it's really short). It carries 5 shots in the tube and one in the chamber. They really are a blast to use pun definitely intended.
Fun Fact: Video games have a terrible track record with how a shotgun works. They are very deadly inside 200 yards and that's just with buck shot. If you run slugs through them the range increases exponentially. Basically it's a 20mm shell that flies at 1,200 fps (feet per second) with 3,100 ft.lbs. of energy behind it. That means it would turn any Flood Variant into a fine pink mist at close range. ;)

The sword has such a small profile when not activated that I can see Spartans carrying it ALONGSIDE their normal two weapon loadouts.
