It’s been a mixed bag and I miss the days when halo was incredibly mysterious. 343 should have slowly revealed who the forerunners were over the trilogy instead of instantly giving us all the answers in halo 4 and the books.

      Now, I will say that the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer is a marked improvement over either the Imperial I-class or Imperial II-class Star Destroyers. It was larger, had better defensive systems (and not just in comparison to the neutered systems of its predecessor classes), and it didn't sacrifice firepower and offensive capability to have better defenses, either. It also employed the use of missiles, which is admittedly more of a personal preference as I feel far too few factions or individual ships utilize them within the Star Wars franchise.
      But, even with all of those advancements, to suggest that the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer could reasonably expect to win any engagement with the UNSC Infinity, which was more than twice its length and outstripped it several times over in sheer tonnage, to say nothing about the Infinity's own offensive and defensive capabilities, is ridiculous. Sure, Star Wars shielding technology may be able to screen against physical objects, despite the common misconception among those who frequent forum VS threads. But, there's nothing within Star Wars continuity that would support the assertion that *shipboard* particle shielding could stand up to something like a MAC round impacting it, especially not one fired from the Infinity's Super MACs.

    • @Installation00
      @Installation00  5 лет назад +30

      Depends. If you're talking in game, it will be simply due to game dynamics. In the lore however, you have to consider what you're dealing with. A needle from a needler is an extraordinarily sharp crystalline stake filled with an unknown mechanism of guidance and detonation. The needle travels at a decent velocity, and the impact would quickly weaken the shields, likely due to a plasma or electromagnetic effect. Once the shields are drained, the needle would be able to penetrate the softer armor at the joints fairly easily and would likely become wedged in the armor plating due to many of MJOLNIR armors plating being hollow plates. At this point, the needle detonates in a fairly powerful blast, sending smaller fragments of the needles crystalline material outwards in all directions with likely a plasm medium also taking effect. This also means the fragments will end up deep into the body. The sheer visceral soft tissue damage would be so high that the Spartan would very quickly bleed out.
      In real world terms, plasma is so hot that repeated shots from plasma weaponry would heat up and likely melt the titanium plating of MJOLNIR armor in just a few unshielded hits.
      Hope that helps!

      @seangroarke3774 5 лет назад +4

      In the lore, the problems with covenant needles is that they impale and then have a good chance of exploding. It causes havok on the body and victims often bleed to death because of the wound.
      Because of the energy in the needles and just how damn sharp they are, they can pierce mjolnir's underlayer quite easily, because of their self guidance they often do penetrate this underlayer much more frequently than normal ammunition. If a spartan is out of biofoam and can't stop the huge amount of bleeding caused by the needle, well...
      Spartans never die, they're just missing in action.

    Your videos are so good, I’m so glad I stumbled upon your comment about chiefs death on Twitter! I’ve always wanted to do a RUclips channel called SGT KILLJOY and cover all things weapon and fire power in the Halo Universe. But I don’t have video talents, scripting talents, or computer talents...

    Basically, wormhole tunnels. they twist the fabric like vortex, the fabric contracts and shrinks just like a water vortex. anything that travels within it travels much faster becaue the space fabric is compressed by the twisting of it, 1 mile of space, turns into 1 foot of space. its like getting a thread, and twisting it from both end, until it shrinks smaller and smaller. it shrinks because the threads tangle up more compact. thats how wormholes work essentially, but instead of strings, or water analogies, its with the fabric of space.

    started getting into D&D ethereal plane like stuff in the later parts there
    a lot of what was described there has an equivalent in the forgotten realms the "slipspace bubble" being akin to the famed "bag of holding" and similar artificial demiplane storage.
    granted the ethereal plane is also used for "ethereal travel" in which you cross into the border ethereal at a space it shares with the plane you entered from, cross into the deep ethereal which is the space between spaces, then cross back into the border ethereal sharing a space with the location you want to be in then reenter at that space. depending on how good the traveler is at concentrating on the concepts of these spaces this can take between hours and seconds
    for those who play D&D and didnt know about this it is the purpose of the "etherealness" spell or at least one of them.

    The Marvel Cinematic Universe missed an opportunity for an extremely cool effect. A true tesseract would appear to twist, warp, turn inside-out, etc as different 3D slices of its 4D structure intersect with the 3 dimensions we perceive. Unfortunately, all we got was a glowing blue cube.

    I find it interesting how the Covenant had the more advanced technology and hardware, but humans has the more advanced calculations and software, so when either gets ahold of the other, they suddenly have a huge advantage against the Galaxy as a whole.

    • @beeman4266
      @beeman4266 2 года назад

      The covenant was extremely advanced in some areas but they were stagnant. Their tech was basically reverse engineered forerunner tech courtesy of the hurogak/engineers.
      The san'shyuum were dogmatic and there wasn't much progress in a lot of areas after a certain level was reached. In the books it's mentioned that they're slow to react. For example I think it was after John was on a covenant ship and explained the layout/security protocol to the UNSC it remained unchanged the entire war. While the unsc would have completely changed everything after there was a breach. At least that's what the books say.

    Note: by default, in a topological space there is no distance function.
    Depending on what separation axioms apply to a given topology, the topology may be metrizable, meaning a metric (generalized distance function) can be applied to the topology. At weakest we want a T2 separable, called Hausdorff, space. This is where given any two distinct points, you can put a bubble around each point such that the bubbles do not intersect.
    However, some topologies do not even satisfy even T0 separability, such as a one point compactification of the number line. T0 separability means that given any two distinct points, you can put a bubble around one point such that the bubble does not include the other point. If a topology is not even T0 then there is no hope of metrizing the topology.

    Can slipspace be used to jump past the immediate area of effect of a halo ring activation essentially just popping up behind the wave of destruction where it had already been thus avoiding the effect of halo and surviving?

    Are there any plans for videos on other pocket dimensions in the Halo universe? I'm really interested in the prospect of learning about these alien dimensions and how they affect normal space objects and organisms. Even better, is it possible for a species to live or even originate in Slipspace or the other dimensions?
