I find it interesting how Marillion's most popular has more plays than king crimson's most popular despite king crimson being more well known prog band in my opinion and the fact that they've had somewhat of a resurgence due to fans of JoJo's bizzare adventure. I expected them to be higher.
Well, Pink Floyd does the same. Anybody can say what they want, but ABITW2 is not a great song. I will also say this about Kayleigh and maybe Owner of a Lonely Heart.
I'm a bit surprised the top track from Nektar is not King Of Twilight, I thought that would be the most popular one, but I knew it's gonna be from the Tab in the Ocean album.
Back Street Luv- Curved Air? Sliver Machine- Hawkwind? Heat Of The Moment- Asia? Not all Prog I know but they all are or have strong links to Prog, more than some on this list do.
ok question - how old are y'all? this seems like an extrapolation of bands from the Spotify Prog Rock Monsters playlist - which, I admit, is where I found a good portion of the songs I still really enjoy.
its a great song, but there is no doubt that pink floyd have better songs than abitw2 (A Saurceful of secrets, Echoes, Astronomy domine, all the dsotm, wywh and animals albums and many songs from the wall like Confortably numb and hey you)
Exactly. I have ranked Pink Floyd songs (I have top50 on my channel), and I didn't include ABITW. There are several better tracks on More or Ummagumma than ABITW :)
It’s good but overrated. Many Pink Floyd songs have hidden gems that are better. I would even consider half of the songs in the Pink Floyd discography to be better. But I don’t hate ABITW, its just shows that Pink Floyd as a whole is a top tier band that people overlook their early work or etc.
Not 'so hated'. Many Yes fans love the song. I used to like the song very much when I knew only this and Roundabout. After listening to the whole Yes discography, I found Owner Of A Lonely Heart quite unimpressive. I have 90125 on CD, but these days I listen to it very rarely.
I don't know, some people only listen to Yes 70s albums, I like that song.. Even Big Generator album had great songs, one of my favorite is Final Eyes from that album. But yea from 90125 I'd choose either Changes or Hold On as the best song.
I think you have never heard Fool’s Overture, Child of Vision or any track they did after Roger Hodgson left (weird, they became proggier after the one member that wrote occasional longer and more experimental pieces left)
@@hughmongous3160 Frank: I wouldn't describe myself as progressive rock either. In fact a lot of the time it's not rock and roll at all, it just happens to be consumed by rock and roll audiences.
You realize gatekeeping more mainstream bands from being considered prog only makes prog lest popular. Pink Floyd and Rush are how I got into prog, if they weren’t considered prog that never would have happened.
Went to check the Wobbler song and it's a 20 minute track, really impressive
I would have thought something like Goodbye stranger or Logical song would be Supertramp’s most played.
they're close second and third I believe :)
Give a Little bit got more attention due to being used in Coke commercials
I like how there is time skip in King Crimson's song.

also didn't expect dust in the wind to have more plays than carry on my wayward son despite it litterally being the anthem of classic rock radio.
most of king crimson's materials hasn't been on streaming services like spotify until recently, and they keep on getting taken down
not surprised. Marillion has Pop radio hits
That's good Marillion deservers its popularity, they are awesome.
Marillion in 1986 were bigger than King Crimson ever were
Genesis' top song just makes me sad.
Well, Pink Floyd does the same. Anybody can say what they want, but ABITW2 is not a great song. I will also say this about Kayleigh and maybe Owner of a Lonely Heart.
@@einarassipavicius1991 I agree completely
Génesis had to change its sound to survive on the market
What did you expect? Having in account their success in the 80s it obviously's not gonna be Supper's Ready or Firth of Fifth
Yes too
i didnt know the wobbler song, and it just became one of my favorites
It would be cool to see a most streamed prog songs by prog bands, so basically forgetting the mainstream stuff
That STARCASTLE song, it sounded a lot like I've seen all good people
It's almost like every Starcastle song sounds a lot like Yes.
Funny that it came up while I was listening to King Crimson.
I love how everyone here is complaining about Genesis's and Yes's top song or something. Can we talk about Frank Zappas' top song???
How popular was it relative to other Zappa songs? I would have guessed his most streamed would be Don't Eat The Yellow Snow.
It has way way more streams than any other Zappa song
I'm a bit surprised the top track from Nektar is not King Of Twilight, I thought that would be the most popular one, but I knew it's gonna be from the Tab in the Ocean album.
Yo pensé que iban a estar Dream theature y Tool
Me da tristeza que no salió ninguna en español, como Alux Nahual o Los Jaivas
Lamentablemente, tampoco hay Haken
Prog should never be ranked by songs rather than albums or concepts.
💯
Correct
Back Street Luv- Curved Air?
Sliver Machine- Hawkwind?
Heat Of The Moment- Asia?
Not all Prog I know but they all are or have strong links to Prog, more than some on this list do.
Que gusto ver ahí a WISHBONE ASH !!!
Oh my god i havent seen gryphon in a loong time
Camel is wrong, it is Lady Fantasy with almost 6M streams
That might be their best song, my favorite along with Lunar Sea.
ok question - how old are y'all? this seems like an extrapolation of bands from the Spotify Prog Rock Monsters playlist - which, I admit, is where I found a good portion of the songs I still really enjoy.
What lol
Another brick in the wall honestly isn’t even in floyds top 50 and maybe not even 75
its a great song, but there is no doubt that pink floyd have better songs than abitw2 (A Saurceful of secrets, Echoes, Astronomy domine, all the dsotm, wywh and animals albums and many songs from the wall like Confortably numb and hey you)

Im a very big Yes fan who has listened to their whole discography. I love the song, it just isnt prog rock, but a cool ass banger
I don't haté it

When did Supertramp become prog?
Supertramp is THE prog
they left prog after breakfast
I think you have never heard Fool’s Overture, Child of Vision or any track they did after Roger Hodgson left (weird, they became proggier after the one member that wrote occasional longer and more experimental pieces left)

Nice clickbait title. This isn't even 1% of every prog rock band.
It isn't clickbait, it is the most popular listened to song from bands who happened to be part of prog. Put your glasses back grandfather.
Rush, Kansas and Pink Floyd: not prog
They are definitely prog, you can make an argument for kansas but id say they are too. But for sure rush and floyd are prog
Kansas not prog? Damn god
They are prog
